The staff was very friendly and helpful. It has very comfortable beds and pillows, as well as great showers (very modern), a safety box that works with a credit card (very convenient), a minibar, and free water bottles and coffee/tea. The rooms also come with iron boards and irons, as well as bathroom accessories (combs, etc.). The breakfast buffet was outstanding (eggs, meats, cheeses, breads, veggies, salads, fruits, cereals, coffee choices, different types of milk for the lactose intolerant like me (almond, soy, oat), and sweet breads (which I passed, since I am trying to lose weight (but they were highly tempting!). The location faces the Retiro Park, hence, the rooms are very quiet. It is also near two convenient metro stations (Retiro and Banco de España). There are many restaurants on Alcalá Street, three blocks away from the hotel, as well as an outstanding Irish bar. It is also near the Prado Museum. I will return to this hotel.

Excellent location - a walking distance from many important tourist sites. Good breakfast - sufficient variety of foods, good quality fresh bread, fruit, cheeses, etc. Pleasant and helpful staff. Comfortable beds and great light blocking curtains ensured a good night sleep. Helpful and pleasant staff.

The decor at the hotel is somewhat style over comfort - the grey/black/white colour scheme is not to our liking. The shower tray was very slippery - dangerous - but no bathmats were offered. Also, there was only one comfortable armchair in the room for two people - the other two items (the plastic chair and the stool) were not comfortable to use, certainly not at our age:).

Breakfast was, as other reviewers have said, really wonderful. Lots of variety to choose from and a great start to the day. Staff was helpful and friendly. Hotel was in was in easy walking distance to museums, Retiro park, the botanical garden and the Atocha train station. Comfortable bed and clean room. We liked the hotel so much, we came back again for another 4 nights before leaving Spain.

The first room we stayed in had a lovely view of the park but we like to sleep with open windows and the traffic from Alfonso XII, was was noisy. When we returned we got an inside room away from the street that just looked on to other buildings in the back, and this was much quieter. It was also a larger room.

Excellent breakfast, good shower, very easy to manage A/C and park view from the room. Easy to manage a safe box, just remember to use your bankcard, not the room card. It really does make you feel secure when you need to keep your documents safe. Elevators are fast and reliable but try a staircase from the top floors at least once. You'll enjoy it.

There should have been an armchair in the room, otherwise, there is nothing to sit on, except for the bed and a chair by the desk. Some sort of lock/latch on a bathroom door would be welcome too

The highlight was our location across from El Retiro. What a gorgeous park! I went both days to walk. Petit Palace Savoy Alfonso is a nice area. Just a 20 minute walk to El Prado. Our superior double gave us plenty of space. Really nice closet and adequate bathroom. Everything was clean. They provided some basic toiletries. Great shower pressure as well. Just a lovely building. Staff were very helpful and allowed us to keep bags stored while we went to pick up a rental car. I am so happy I chose to stay there!

Superb breakfast buffet and very friendly and helpful staff. The location is perfect, near two metro stations and facing the Retiro Park. It is also walking distance from the Prado Museum. I am an avid walker, so, from my hotel, I could easily walk to the main part of Madrid (Puerta del Sol) [in 20 mins.]. It is also near the Atocha Railroad Station. There are plenty of great restaurants nearby, on Alcalá St. Therein there is a great Irish bar, The James Joyce.

Room very comfortable, location perfect for enjoying park and museums. Breakfast was very good, which we really appreciated (especially now having experienced hotels with subpar breakfasts later in the trip). It would have been nice to have a pot of coffee or tea at the table rather than having to make our own, which was time consuming and we had to wait. But the buffet was excellent and the omelette very good.

Great central location with Retiro park right across the road and the Prado round the corner. Able to walk to all the key sites or take a short cab ride. Pharmacy and small mini-market round the corner, a great coffee/bakery down the road and some tapas bars nearby. Breakfast buffet was amazing with lots of choice including lovely fresh fruit and some fresh salad. Staff were very friendly and helpful throughout. Huge family room that was great given we had our 2 teenage boys with us.

Sound proofing in the rooms isn't great but, with such high ceilings in an older building, that isn't surprising. It didn't massively affect us.

The breakfast was splendid. A wide array of juices, fruit, yogurt, breads, pastries, cakes, charcuterie and cheeses, hot bacon and eggs, omelette etc. My gluten free diet was well catered for. The bean to cup coffee machine produced excellent espresso, cafe con leche etc. The staff were friendly, welcoming and helpful.

The room was small (though I guess that’s a common situation in the city).

I liked the location - close to everything. The room was quiet, clean and comfortable. I didn't have breakfast, but I did have dinner and it was nice. The service was great

I didn't like the price for the breakfast. Perhaps it is appropriate for someone who eats a lot, but I generally need just a cup of coffee and perhaps something small. The price seemed steep for this. So I had to walk around and look for breakfast somewhere else.
