Lovely hotel in a great location, within walking distance of the beach, shops and nightlife and close access to public transport. The room was lovely and clean with a large shower and spacious bathroom. Air conditioning in the room which was important as it was so hot during our stay (although you did need to have the key in the pad for it to work). Lovely pools and sun loungers with a pool bar. Friendly reception who were very helpful if needed.

The hotels wifi connection was very poor. We had two single beds which were very hard. Breakfast buffet every morning which did have a large selection but could have been changed a few times during our stay to add more choice e.g. fresh fruit and fresh juices. We had to pay €2 per day to use the fridge in our room for our full stay (it was locked on arrival).

Hotel California Gardens *** Just back from a 4 day trip and here is our honest review. Rooms - We had an attic room which we couldn’t fault. We had a view of the pool and disco across the road. We couldn’t hear the disco which was great. The balcony had two sun beds and was a sun trap. Pool - There are two big pools. Perfect size and suitable for everyone. Pools are clean and life guards are always on duty. The pool bar staff are very friendly and the service is brilliant. Sunbed - There are no sun bed wars in this hotel. It’s very relaxed. However the beds will be gone by 10:30am as the pool opens at 9:30am. We didn’t mind as much as we had sun beds on our balcony. About 3:30pm beds begin to empty at the pool so that’s when we went down for a swim. Inside bar - staff are very friendly and it is spotless. Great air-con. Food - We only had breakfast and dinner. The food was OK. There was always pasta, chips, veg, salad, desserts, fish and other meats. There was always something being fried by the chef. There was always fresh fruit. Breakfast had full selection cereals , pastries, bacon, sausage etc. We did eat out for breakfast after the first morning as we missed breakfast. There is something to eat for everyone. Entertainment- From what we had seen it was fantastic. The energy and enthusiasm from the staff was great. We didn’t stay in for the evening entertainment and always managed to miss the poolside one but what from what was seen and heard we can’t fault it. Overall the hotel is great. The staff are very helpful and friendly. The location is good easy to get to Portaventura, the beach, the strip and bars all are about 10mins walk away. It’s a 3 star hotel but we honestly could say it deserves to be 4 stars. We will definitely be back.

Everything was great

Lovely Pool Area. Room's are simple but a perfect base for being out and about. Bathroom gets rather warm when showering as no extractor or window. Good location only 10 min walk to the beach but beware of busy main road to cross to get to beach. Food options for breakfast were good does get very busy though.

On arrival some of the staff speak very broken English which can be a little tricky to navigate but manageable. One male member of staff however was very rude we were a large party (17 of us) we had phoned to try and pay for the hotel in advance before arrival but advised not allowed so when it came to paying we paid in one total we was given a card machine which gave the option for pounds or euros at which point the staff pulled the reader away whilst we tried to insert the card and chose euros - we advised we wanted to pay in pounds but was told no this is Spain you are in Spain you pay in Euros and was incredibly rude about this laughing and talking in Spanish even the other member of staff looked embarrassed about how rude he was.

The hotel reception was clean and well lit, and the check in was speedy and efficient. The rooms were comfortable and clean, plus the bathroom had a lovely walk-in shower. The location of the hotel was very good, there is a supermarket across the road and a very good snack bar not very far away. It is not a long walk to the beach.

We only got one key card for the room and you needed to insert that to get the lights and air conditioning to work so you couldn't leave the key card in to keep the room cool during the day.

Staff need to at least look happy , the all looked like they did not want to be there, the only person I found welcoming was the senior bar man who always welcomed you and had time to chat.

Attitude of staff, and definitely not enough entertainment for visitors, can be a faboulous pool side in the evening with a little more music and other forms of entertainment.

Efficient check in, helped with ordering taxis, walking distance to PortAventura and the bars/shops/beach, reasonably priced bar, good selection on buffets for breakfast and dinner, clean room, good air con, nice lobby and pool area

There could be more beds at the pool and maybe laid out in rows for better use of the space. Balcony was smaller than the one pictured on booking.com

Perfect location, spotless, great facilites and excellent value for money. Highly recommend. Ignore any bad reviews.

Food was ok now and again but not enough variety if all inclusive. Balcony only had one chair and pretty small but we rarely used it.

lovely clean bright spacious hotel. lots of space around pool area. lots of vending machines.

The pillows were very uncomfortable and only one per person.

First of all staff is amazing, rooms are tidy, couldn't use gym or sauna/spa,but rest of the facilities are really good. Localisation of the hotel is excellent. Food was very good. Desserts were amazing.

Snooker tables were somewhat dirty and uneven, Snooker balls were sticky. Food was really good, but mostly monotonous ( but on the other hand there was a variety indeed).
