Relaxing environment. Beautiful beach and wild life. Right activities from the entertainments. Tasty buffet restaurant. Staff always available.

The restaurants:The Japanese is not a Japanese selection. Ketchup and peppers used everywhere can’t be Japanese. The steakhouse selection is poor and quantities are small sized. I finished my meal and I was still very hangry. Moreover the air conditioning is freezing inside these restaurants if you’re on the wall. Because of all these it’s better going to the Buffett. You got all the restaurants selections and more with all the plates you want there.

Amazing location and weather in November was perfect for families, warm but not too hot perfect medium sized resort with some jungle and wildlife but not too large to walk around comfortably Excellent staff attitude Pool and beach setup was awesome for kids. Pools easy for little kids to safely get in and out Beach had tons of chairs and very good shade Room key wristband makes it easy Dinner reservations easy to get Kids club, playground, and kids activities were nice

Food was overall good but not excellent We had a comfortable ground floor room but the buildings are 3 story with no elevator so just keep that in mind if with kids or seniors Pool chairs could run out but not too bad

It’s a lovely resort, with a great beach surrounded by palms and soft sand. There are a lot of animals there it looks like you stay in a jungle. Very comfortable and clean rooms. Great service, and we are very grateful for our treatment, especially due to my daughter gluten free diet.

Overall the food was good but it can be better. The breakfast was amazing, but not the linch and the dinner. The thematic restaurants were not at the level we expected, besides Bloved which was pretty good.

Food, cocktails and resort were great!

Air conditioning was too intense: inside public spaces and restaurants it was extremely cold. All Italians had to wear pullover or hoodies. Kindly consider that it not necessary to keep restaurants so cold. As an European, we are not used to this standard. Also, we all should be more sustainable towards our planet.

We were in the privileged section. The restaurants were right there along with the pool and beach. Everything was kept and clean. The staff went above and beyond. It’s definitely a family friendly resort and people made us feel welcome with our kids. I could see being there without kids as well. The beach was beyond my expectations. Playa Maroma is gorgeous and the chairs and beach beds made it that much better. There’s shade and sun and of course the waiters were great at coming around. The food was great. Not 5 star fancy but there’s definitely some great dishes and access to food at any time. Room service options are limited but good. We liked that reservations were on the website. We thought it was easy. We got to the resort early. They let us use the restaurants and pool/beach before we got a room which was nice. There’s a coffee shop. I definitely enjoyed this and the coffee was great! Privileged stay gets you access to Bloved restaurant. We had an amazing sunrise breakfast at 7a and a great Kate night dinner sitting on the patio with a breeze. Just to note, I’d always stay privileged for the proximity to facilities and bloved access.

Alcohol isn’t served until 11a. Not the end of the world but I do love a mimosa at breakfast on vacation so that’s a little disappointing. No shade in the pool so it’s pretty warm midday. The lowest temperature setting for the ac is 25C. It’s part of their eco promise so we understood it but we were also pretty warm. And it was too humid to have the sliding door open for a breeze.

100% why I came is Playa Maroma

Food at Grill, Coffee bar and breakfast at the Buffet were above expectations. The reservation system to book a restaurant is difficult to get a reservation for specific restaurants on any given night. People who worked the resort work really hard to make your stay good. Front desk people were the worse we interacted with on the resort.

There were coati (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Coati) sleeping on the balcony, and because I saw that they oftentimes climbed into trash cans, it was disgusting to sit in a sun lounger after them; they often left their poop on the balcony.

The hotel arrangement within the jungle that always made you feel like in an adventure. Also great for kids.

The food on some of the restaurants you have to book for was a bit disappointing. Totally prefer the food at the buffet

we enjoyed very much staying at the Catalonia Playa Maloma: the buildings are sorrounded by nature and very well maintained. The coatì are present all over the resort and they are cute and not annoying. The food was literaly amazing in all the available restaurant and in the buffet area too. The staff has been nice, supportive and kind during the whole time we stayed.

There are a couple of things that I would suggest to improve: 1) we always had cold water in the shower of our room, no metter of the time during the day, even in the night or early morning (when less people should be using showers) was possible to have at least warm water. 2) the electric outlets in our room were defenitely not safe.

It’s my second time staying here and love it more than the first time. The hotel is beautiful with traditional mexican style buildings on the outside, but modern upgraded rooms inside with comfortable beds and a reading light on both sides of the bed, which for me it is a big plus. The main passage way from the pool to the lobby is do incredibly relaxing, beautiful with so much lush palms and soothing music. That walk, in itself, for me makes this resort an extra star in rating. The food was great. The sea bass at the Mamma Mia Italian Restaurant was spectacular, and the “formaggio” appetizer also superb. The freshly squeezed smoothies with no added sugar were absolutely delicious and I enjoyed them daily. The cappuccinos at the Maroma coffee house were delicious. I saw a wild parrot flying through the botanical grounds. The beach is shallow even after walking quite a ways in; so it’s perfect for kids to enjoy the water. The hobbie cat was included in the price and we enjoyed it daily. Overall I absolutely loved my stay.

My husband would have wished that the AC was cooler. It stayed at 23 and 24 degrees. For me it was perfect.
