I recently stayed at Hotel Ivalo, and while there were several highlights to my visit, there were a few areas that could use some improvement. Pros: Stunning Views: The view from the hotel was absolutely breathtaking, offering a picturesque backdrop that made my stay quite memorable. Spacious Hotel: The hotel itself is vast and well-laid out, providing a sense of comfort. Clean Rooms: The room I stayed in was spotlessly clean, which I greatly appreciated. It was evident that attention to cleanliness is a priority here. Good Breakfast: The breakfast served was quite enjoyable with a good variety of options to choose from.

Cons: Unattended Breakfast Tables: One downside was that the breakfast tables were not cleaned promptly after guests finished their meals. This led to a cluttered and less inviting dining area, which detracted from an otherwise pleasant breakfast experience. Indifferent Desk Staff: I found the desk staff to be a bit disinterested. While they were not rude, their lack of engagement and enthusiasm was noticeable and did not contribute positively to the overall experience.

I had a super nice room overlooking the river which was frozen and was used as a road for snow mobiles and pedestrians alike. The bed was comfortable and location was good (about 8 mins from the main bus station, about 12 from the shop). Internet worked well, the breakfast was delicious, and the staff were friendly.

I was unlucky and my stay coincided with big French travel groups who tended to take over the whole place (not so great for individual travelers). Some of the staff spoke to me im French (trying to 'entertain' me, assuming that I was looking for some sort of entertainment at all), TV channels are mostly in French, translations of stuff for breakfast also. I don't speak French and don't care if it's French or any other language, just not keen on any kind of mass tourism and didn't expect it there. But they did their best to give me a quiet room away from the groups and to treat me as an individual :)

Location is very good, my room had river view and it is only 20 min walk from the small downtown area and the back door the hotel faces a big frozen river for all kind of winter activities (northern lights watching right at the hotel, cross-country skiing, snowmobile, snow-shoeing, etc) several of those activities one can practice at no-cost. The hotel has an office from where one can also choose and book lots of activities and the lady in charge is very kind and helpful. Breakfast is very good with lots of food options. The restaurant is open almost the whole day to eat buffet menu or a la carta from 15hrs. I tried several nicely cooked regional dishes. Very friendly atmosphere, family oriented but also good for solo travellers. Ladies at the front desk are also very helpful

Good price/quality hotel. Rooms were clean, and the staff was friendly. Good location in Ivalo next to the river. Free use of equipment such as ski boots, xc skis, and ice skating shoes was a nice bonus. Activities can be booked at the hotel.

The food was good, but there are not that many options for the buffet (usually one option for meat, one for fish, one type of warm vegetables). However, there is an à la carte menu, and there is a lot of choice for the breakfast.

The location by the river and closeness to the airport. The sauna and the pool, large restaurant area and a nice welcoming bar with a fireplace. And the shop with local products and the Northern Lights to see on arrival was magical.

Sauna not on in the morning! No karjalanpiirakkas for breakfast!

Hotel is very comfortable, very clean and close to the city center.The waiter's attitude is also very good, especially the tall beauty. Seeing that my suitcase is too heavy, then she asked me needed help? I really appreciate it! Finally, I want to say that breakfast is good, and there are many choices.

Was worth the money and time, friendly staff, clean rooms, nice food and enough possibilities to add adventure to your trip

Some thing were unclear like buffet or privat restaurant options, unclear in which welness offers had to be paid other not etc.

The location was amazing and very well connected as the bus stand and supermarket were just a few 100 meters away.

The hotel could be more creative and thoughtful about the lighting. In the evening when there are chances of the Aurora Borealis the back side of the hotel had some disturbing lights which should be turned off.

Location was good, food was good, staff were friendly. The hotel was good value for money. The room was very well decorated. The room was spacious and had good furniture. They have steps down to the river so you can go for a swim.
