The hotel is right on the waterfront and has a very nice outside bar and restaurant. The breakfast is very good laid out on a beautiful boat shaped table. It’s an old building that’s got a very interesting history and there’s a book in each room explaining this. There’s a good carpark and we were able to reserve a space before arriving.

We stayed one night in Room 5 and the window is completely covered by a shrub. Without the shrub you would get a great view of the lake. When I asked at reception about why the shrub had been allowed to completely cover the window I was told ,very kindly, that it was to stop the room getting too hot in the summer. I think a curtain or shutter would be far more practical and much nicer for using the the room but maybe it’s a Finnish thing ??

It's the perfect location in the oldest part of Savonlinna and right by the castle to explore. The hotel was spotlessly clean top to bottom, as was our double room on the third floor. The bed was one of the most comfortable beds we'd slept in. Our room had a fabulous aspect overlooking the lake and with a balcony, perfect for our short stay. The buffet breakfast was extensive and delicious.

Sadly the hotel doesn't have a lift to any of the floors. Plus how the bathroom layout was in our room, we thought the hotel could have made better use of the space available.

Location is superb, and the breakfast is excellent. Staff is very friendly.

Room was ok but very small and not practical when travelling with luggage. In the bathroom there is no space to lay down anything. In the room is no big enough table for using laptop. Corridors are very dated and tired. If they would classify the place Bed&Breakfast instead of a hotel, there would be no disappointment, and I would still happily pay the same price I did now.

Well located, on the lakeside. The hotel has a long, interesting history. It is well maintained and clean. The staff are very charming and helpful. Breakfasts were varied and good quality. We had one of the better rooms, with a balcony and lake view. We really enjoyed sitting out there and, if we stayed again, would seek to pay the extra and have the same room.

Nice and historical small hotel next to lake Saimaa. Breakfast was good. Room was above average what comes to decor, toiletries etc.

Parking place was disappointment. We decided to take private parking place inside hotel yard, which cost 15e/day. It was not so private as it looked to be common walkway through yard from street to the lake. Also it was obvious that some locals (?) parked their cars to hotel parking places without paying, as there were no control who paid for parking and who didn't.

The location of the hotel is perfect for a visit to Olavinliina Castle, being only a five minute walk away. The hotel from the outside looks like a normal square boring building, but inside is a completely different experience. It was designed by a Finnish Architect in the 1930's as a hostal, and is now a listed building. The night we stayed the hotel put on a very nice free buffet and then follwed it the next morning with a fantastically varied array of foods for breakfast.

The location of the hotel was excellent. Its right on the edge of the lake and it was very quiet and peaceful the castle is only a couple of minutes walk away and the harbour and town were less than a 10 minute walk. It's an old building with beautiful old style rooms. Our room was really big with a nice sitting area and a separate kitchenette with a sink, two ring cooker, kettle, fridge and utensils.. Tea, coffee, and sugar was supplied but no milk. The beds was very comfortable and the bathroom was lovely. It was well stocked with very nice toiletries. The breakfast was excellent. There was a wide variety of both hot and cold foods and extremely tasty. The staff in the hotel were extremely nice and helpful.

There was nothing I didn't like about our stay. The only thing I would do differently if staying there again is I would request a room on one of the upper floors. We could open the windows in the bedroom and kitchenette which was wonderful but because we were on the ground level we couldn't leave them open overnight which I would like to have done.

The hotel is very well located. We received a friendly welcome and were provided with all the information we needed. The hotelier also had very good tips for our stay. We particularly liked the “cozy” atmosphere of the hotel with the Christmas decorations. Thank you also very much for the late check-out.

There is nothing to criticize.

The staff was nice, the room was clean but small and old. Not far from the train station. The hotel doesn't have lift so not very convenient if you have a heavy luggage, but the staff helped me to take the luggage to my room. The hotel is right next to the lake, had a walk around the lake in the morning was nice.

Our stay was exceptional! The historic building exuded charm, and our spacious room easily accommodated our family of five. Nestled in the city center. A stunning view from our window on the lake, making our stay truly memorable. Highly recommended for a perfect blend of history and comfort!

It was a bit fresh inside the room, but the outdoor temperature was about -30 degrees during those days.
