This property offered all we were looking for in a one bedroom full kitchen situation. The furnishings are best described as basic and that worked for us not in looking for 5 star. Cooking facilities and the Internet worked great. Bed comfortable. Most importantly NO noise/sounds from other rooms were heard. The proprietor Pat was FANTASTIC to work with in that he was immediately responsive to any questions or needs. (You'll find the front desk unmanned but Pat lives across the hall from it and is a simple phone call away). Did not expect an ocean or Diamond Head view with the address but had a nice pastoral view of the canal and mountains behind. Price (including parking rate), and location were excellent.

The big issue we had was the noise! Ala Wai Blvd. is LOUD and became a speedway well into the night. Then too since last visiting Waikiki that the area in general seems to have become much more crowded and noisier than ever experienced before. Still, Ala Wai was at times uncomfortably loud. That was not the hotel causing that. To his credit Pat is in the process of replacing windows and slider doors to minimize that noise, once again showing that he is responsive to his guests needs and comfort. The only thing we'd suggest adding to the apartment (besides having a quieter slider/windows situation) was for our bedroom to have had a ceiling fan there (like in the living room) as an alternate to/instead of AC.

Great value hotel, you get what you pay for. Excellent location within walking distance to everything. Spacious room, full kitchen with large fridge. Good aircon, some street noise but nothing more than usual for city living. Great service from staff able to book an appointment to drop off bags early before check-in. Would stay here again.

Considering that this is a budget hotel - a great value for the money. Perfect location and very helpful personnel, easy to communicate and fixing all what we needed. "Vintage" style of furniture does not matter - photos show clearly what to expect. Late arrival fee was a bit of a surprise, but acceptable as it is a small family owned hotel. We liked the two bed room suite concept, it was an awesome experience with family. All of us in the family really enjoyed our stay at holiday surf hotel. Great bank for the buck for a family trip to Aloha state. Location was great, close to all the amenities, food restaurants, wakiki beach and Ala Wai Canal.

Underground basement parking is limited and bit tricky to park at some of the spots as they are very tight. If you don't need parking then this hotel is an awesome choice for family trip with two bed room suite with full kitchen.

Locaction. If you don't want the high resort hotel fees, and don't need the full on resort experience then this could be the place to stay. A hostel with good amenities, great accessible staff and good location. Comfy bed, decent cooking facilities if you want them, good bathroom. Small balcony with furniture, good laundry facilities. Very clean. Short walk to main street with lots and lots of restaurants, bars, shops and a bit further to the beach.

There is no getting away from the traffic noise, the main road outside and lack of double glazing means it is impossible to get away from it. Personally it never bothered us. Was mainly during morning and evening "rush" hours. Good earplugs?

The location of the hotel is excellent, across the street from the Ala Wai Canal, 5 minutes on foot from International Market Place (a very nice mall), 10 minutes on foot from Waikiki Beach. It is located quite close to the Waikiki Aquarium. The area is full of restaurants, shops, bars, the sound of the ocean. The hotel room was big, spacious. From the point of view of cleanliness, I have a few observations: it can be seen that cleaning is not done in detail, for example, the stove and the stove holes have not been cleaned for some time, as well as the toilet paper holder. Otherwise, the staff was very kind and professional. There were no incidents and during the entire stay I completely relaxed.

We thought Holiday Surf was a very good value compared to other places in the area. We accepted the unit would not be highly rated as a trade off for the savings. We really appreciated the mats and beach towels we were offered. We really liked having a small kitchen to prepare breakfast and lunch. The canal view is nice when rowers are out in racing boats and there’s a wide sidewalk alongside that water. The location is good.

Check in is a little odd because no one is there continually. You have to get everything done and anticipate needs in advance because the manager has to return to help with an issue. The A/C is pretty noisy, but you get used to it.

Awesome location on Ala Wai Blvd, where if you get lucky, you could actually find the only free parking in Waikiki. The staff is responsive to room service requests, and the room itself is no-frills and charming and pretty adequate. While we didn't use the kitchen, I appreciate it being included in the room. The value is pretty unbeatable for what you get, if the only thing you want is to store your stuff, sleep and shower. Definitely recommend.

was able to stay past check out - paid 1/2 day, which is great when you have a flight at 11pm - basically adding another (less stressful) vacation day. the kitchen was fine; staff was friendly and accommodating; bathroom was fine; enjoyed morning coffee on balcony; had (paid)parking spot; location - (20min 1.5km walk to main beaches); shopping and pubs close; driving strategic - easy and fast to get out of Waikiki. If you are a family of 4 - it doesn't get much better.

everything seems so much more expensive then in the past visit to Oahu, this isn't specific to this property. Ultimately these are the times. 1) clothes line on the balcony would be a nice, but we made do with the chairs. 2) basic coffee machine would also be nice.

It had a stove, microwave, sink, and all necessary utensils, making it easy to prepare meals and enjoy the convenience of home. For families, this is a big advantage, especially if you want to avoid eating out every day. * Excellent Value: Great quality at an affordable price.
