The facilities, the staff and the food were all exceptional. They could not have been more attentive. We were particularly impressed with the food (the japanese restaurant was fantastic). The steak and fish at seaside were delicious. Also a great breakfast and lunch menu. The evening entertainment was fab and all the facilities were amazing.

Lack of soundproofing between rooms

In general the staff were excellent, going above and beyond with a few exceptions. Three pools to choose from, our the gorgeous sea. Room was large and well appointed and despite being sold as a Garden View, we had clear sight of the sea even if halfway back in the resort.

Food was average and decidely bland. We were expecting a thrill of mexican spice which was sadly lacking. Lots of focus on regional cuisine (Italian, French, Greek, etc) which many guests liked, but we found them to be shadows of what they should have been; beautifully presented but lacking the taste intensity we expected. Given the average age of guests was probably pushing 50, there was two much duff duff duff music played at the pools which seemed to be more catering for the staff's tastes than the guests.

Absolutely everything about this resort is incredible!! We were celebrating our honeymoon and it was magical spending our time in secrets Akumal. Everything is done to perfection and that’s all thanks to the amazing staff they have. We loved seeing the entertainment team everyday and getting involved in all of their activities. Max, jonas, Abraham and Gina were amazing ❤️ The food and drinks in the resort were such high quality. We loved the pizza by the pool and also loved the grill for dinner! We snorkelled with the turtles which I’d highly recommend! Amazing experience! Thank you to all the staff for making our stay so incredibly enjoyable. We didn’t stop smiling the entire trip and we have memories forever!

This was our 2nd time visiting Secrets Akumal; we enjoyed it so much last year that we returned, bringing another couple with us, introducing them to the all-inclusive concept (they are now fans!!). Because of that, Secrets upgraded us to the Preferred Club, which has some wonderful benefits. Our room was at the back of the property, near the spa, which was perfect for us, as we love spending time at the Quiet Pool. Eli (Eliezer) was the pool concierge, and he did a fantastic job, as well servers Samuel, Jesus, Israel, and Evomm (not spelled correctly, I’m sure). The last day we had Antonio as the pool concierge, who was wonderful too. Secrets does an excellent job in training their employees - everyone is very friendly, courteous, helpful, and professional, seeing to our every want and need. The resort itself is beautiful, with wandering paths through a jungle atmosphere. All the restaurants are excellent, and the servers there are also so well trained. We enjoyed the pools and snorkeling off the beach, as there is some coral with quite a few fish. Secrets Akumal has become our favorite relaxing vacation spot!

The staff and service were above and beyond! The staff attention to detail and friendliness are what hotels and resorts should all have. And secrets is by far the best in that area of hospitality.

Nothing

The room is great. The resort is beautiful. The beach is great and we enjoy the ocean. All the stuffs are nice and we felt very welcomed. The food at the resort is great, there are lots of sea food options. We went snorkeling and saws lots of sea turtles with a great instructor Gaberial.

The sushi and sashimi at the japanese restaurant is not very good. At the checkin, there were sales people try to sale us the club membership and try to convince us to go to a sale pitch at the next day. We were tired and would like to go to our room first, maybe they could do this talk after we settle down at the hotel.

The grounds, the beach, the staff, the food---all were exceptional. We even enjoyed seeing all the wildlife around the property, including the iguanas and birds. We would definitely recommend Secrets to anyone looking for a fun, relaxing and high-quality resort by a beautiful beach.

Our only complaint was the exorbitant prices for items such as sunscreen in the on-site stores. We don't mind paying more for sundries that we forgot to bring, but $35 dollars for a spray can of sunscreen could be considered price gouging.

We stayed as a couple in the Adults only Hideaway section with Diamond Club service- and we literally pampered! We keep coming back to this resort for it's safety, food and entertainment variety , Spa services , and sheer niceness/ attention to service of staff! Special shout out to Enrique and Marlon our butlers for taking care of even our smallest needs and desires!

Leaving the resort

I thought it was very pretty the restaurants were done beautifully.

We were so confused!! We got lost a LOT…. We were there for 3 nights it was impossible to get the layout… we did have the map! Not helpful !! Plz put more signs.. i swear one of them pointed in the wrong direction. At night, we wanted to go to the theater on the last night. We never knew where it was. One of your employees was so kind. She walked us to the theater, but there was no signs leading up to the theater. It was so confusing!!!!
