Delicious! Lovely choice of cured meats local cheeses tasty jams as well as hot dishes. Our grandson loved poaching and boiling eggs and making us all pancakes. My husband made us all fresh orange juice. The breakfast room was spacious and relaxed with lovely views of the grounds. Thoroughly pleasant start to our days together.

We choose this hotel as it provided parking, something we found difficult to get elsewhere. Our inital interaction with staff was very positive, then some not so positive (it happens everywhere). In the end, the staff saved us by arranging transportation to Paris when all the trains were booked. We were initially given a nice room on the top floor that had a tub but no shower. I have difficulty getting in and out of a tub, so the staff not only found us a different room, they moved our luggage. Breakfast seemed a little over priced for what was provided. Location was great and after returning the car, we found we could walked from the center of Bayeux to the hotel in about 20 minutes.

The hotel is rated 3 star, and I believe that to be a correct assessment. We were informed that the second room we were assigned was recently renovated, but already had signs of mold above the shower due to poor ventilation.

Chateau de Bellefontaine is the kind of place you are sorry to leave, and hope your other destinations can live up to. Beautiful, historic, comfortable, peaceful, and elegant. The rooms are also quite reasonable, given their spaciousness and quality. The town center is just under a 20-minute walk, so while you feel you are in the French countryside from a bygone past, the vibrant medieval village of Bayeux is close by. The staff are very friendly and helpful. The beds are very comfortable and the breakfast is quite good! I highly recommend this hidden gem!

We couldn't think of anything to complain about here.

The Chateau is quiet and seems remote but as it was wet during our stay we used the car to get in and out of Bayeux and it took 5 minutes. We stayed in the main building on the first floor in typical elegant French style. Breakfast was very good with lots of choice. Evening meal had to be booked and was very tasty with 2 fixed price menus or à la carte. The staff were pleasant and professional and spoke English.

There was only one waitress in the dining room but she was very good. Be warned: we had just gone through a heatwave and there was no air conditioning. We didn't need it but there was a fan in the room.

Very beautiful room, but would need to fix several things. It’s great that it has international channels on tv and a bathtube in the bathroom. Beautiful garden.

As mentioned before they would need to fix several smaller things, so that the stay can be more pleasant- the clothes rack was broken, there is a scale in the room, which is also not working (I would change the batteries or remove it from the room), when I flushed the toilet, the water didnt stop running, etc. There are more or less things that are negligible, but it's still nicer if everything is as it should be.

My stay at Château de la Fontaine was absolutely wonderful. The property is stunning—peaceful, elegant, and full of character. From the moment we arrived, we were made to feel incredibly welcome. The rooms were spacious, beautifully furnished, and offered a perfect blend of old-world charm and modern comfort.

Breakfast in the morning was a real highlight—fresh croissants, local cheeses, and strong coffee enjoyed in a beautiful setting. The grounds were immaculately kept and perfect to relax in.

Authentic chateaux

Wasn’t finished as well as it could have been. We stayed in other nearby chateaux’s which were finished to a higher standard. The staff experience was mixed. The day before our arrival we called in to introduce ourselves in advance. The man and woman at reception ignored us and were generally unpleasant. But on the day of our arrival the 2 young girls serving drinks and food, were quite the opposite, friendly and helpful

Converted rooms across two levels in the stables were very comfortable for a family of three. Sofa bed was comfortable and doonas were cozy. Good water pressure. Main building with salon & fireplace was an indication of old world charm. Hostess was very welcoming. Good for onsite parking and close to town centre.

It was odd that use of tea/coffee in the room seemed to incur a charge, so we didn’t use that. The addition of a phone charging device or USB port in the room would be useful addition.

Breakfast was cold - cold scrambled eggs and cold poached eggs are not nice!

The hotplates had not been turned on and so the 'cooked' food was cold or lukewarm - not tasty and not very healthy either. Dinner seemed to be warmed up cook-chill food that could have been hotter.

Beautiful chateaux and setting with very helpful staff. Room was clean and spacious with lovely en suite. Even though you are near the main D Road, you do not hear the traffic. We would definitely stay here again, thankyou 😊

The breakfast needs improvement please ( we ate at 0830 am). The croissants had run out and not replaced and we felt breakfast was overpriced at 14 euros each for what there was. A bit limited..
