what could be better - an earlier checking time although we did not need it in the end as too busy visiting !

We enjoyed our stay at Le Castel. The house is old but, that is part of the charm of staying at Le Castel- no lift, stairs only. The shower was slow to drain and the toilet seat was not secure. (These were minor maintenance issues that are probably repaired by now) The breakfast consisted of pastries, bread/ butter and cake or cookies and yogurt. There was also dry cereal and granola with milk options. Coffee, tea and juice to drink. Fresh fruit options were apples and oranges. If you are exploring the town of Bayeux this is a prime location. We had a car and drove 15-20minutes to Omaha beach and the American WWII memorial cemetery garden. The hostess was very kind and we enjoyed our 2 night stay.

The parking is tight, the gate to the property is very narrow and off the main street. That said we were thrilled that there was free parking! This is not a complaint, just be ready for it if you have a car.

The hotel was absolutely fabulous. The interior design was classy and fun, everywhere was extremely clean and tidy. It is situated just a couple minute walk from the nearest shops, restaurants and town centre. The bed was amazingly comfy and the room was kitted with all the essentials- soft towels, comfy bedding, tea, coffee and milk. The lady who runs the place was extremely friendly and helpful. The breakfast was fab too, and you can tell the owner works super hard to keep such a lovely place!

There was nothing. I was worried that the doors to the rooms were not thick enough to keep external noise from keeping us awake but you could have heard a pin drop! Not a noise from traffic or other guests the whole time we stayed.

Location is brilliant, just a short walk into Bayeux, 5 minutes to the Tapestry Museum. Le Castel is a very striking building from the outside

The bathroom was a bit tired, the loo seat needed fixing into place and the shower lacked pressure. There is no free parking at the guesthouse as implied on booking.com. Apparently parking can be reserved in advance but this was not made clear. There is free parking 5-10 minutes walk away and the hotel does provide guidance and a map in the room.

The hostess was extremely helpful and friendly. She was all you would want from a French bed and breakfast hostess. The room was clean and good. Breakfast was cold but really excellent with many choices of homemade bread and pastries. The butter in Normandy really is the best in the world. The location was excellent- only 10-15 min walk from the train station and 5-10 mins to all the restaurants and cathedral/museum/meet up for tours. We really enjoyed this place.

It’s an old building so as others commented- it’s true the shower is slow to warm and drain. But we just think of it as quaint ☺️

What we liked best was unexpected. The advertising made us think our group of six were staying in the chateau pictured. When we arrived we discovered this was not the case. We were instead showed to a separate building in the garden- a gite as the French call it. This was initially disappointing, but in fact the Gite was lovely and perfect for a large group to share! Nicely presented, with a full kitchen, three beautiful bedrooms, it was perfect for us and we loved it! Great location a five minute walk from jut about everything we wanted. And the price was ridiculously good for such a large group- a real bargain!

The parking situation is a little tight, and in fact our second night we actually paid for a spacious public lot right behind the property rather than deal with trying to navigate our large van into their parking spaces again. But this was very minor indeed.

The breakfast was great. Lovely Cheese and delicious bread. Madam was a treasure.

We got confused when we arrived as the owners had departed and we couldn't get in!. There WAS a sign on the front door saying that they had gone home but unbeknownst to us access was via a side door where there was a coded lock. Although they had sent us a message to that effect, which contained the code, we had missed it and so an unhappy hour ensued. A very helpful couple in another local hotel made a call on our behalf and got the code and the instructions for us. Nobody's fault but a sign on the front door directing us the the side door would have helped. Anyway, it all ended well .

Breakfast was wonderful and filling with many choices of food to eat. Included fresh local produce. Room was very clean and perhaps freshly painted, with windows and view of the cathedral. Enjoyed using the fan to keep cool on these hot summer days and nights. Location was excellent with good access to downtown and many restaurants. Good walking distance to the Bayeux Tapestry museum. Staff was very helpful in finding a place to park my car.

The rooms were all different. We had 3 of the 7 rooms. The shower had great water pressure, our room had luggage racks which was nice as we did not unpack! We were able to leave our luggage both on the day of arrival and departure. Breakfast was lite, but good. The code to get in after you checked in was nice, as the staff is not there around the clock, so you could come and go as needed. You could walk to most places.

Can't really think of anything, just be aware the rooms are all up stairs and there is not lift.

Location was excellent, both the room and the en-suite were spacious and very clean with a very comfortable bed. Access throughout the day was super easy which meant we could come and go as we pleased.

Personal choice but I would have preferred my coffee served fresh in a coffee pot to the table at breakfast rather than coffee that had been sat in a flask that was lukewarm warm and stewed.
