The breakfast was superb, each morning a different homemade pastry along with homemade jams, lovely croissants and bread, fresh fruit and excellent coffee - truly a perfect start to the day. Carole was extremely helpful, advising us on making early reservations for dinner. She made us feel very welcome. We enjoyed seeing her beautiful garden. Location was perfect - walking distance from the train station and to every attraction in Bayeux. We had a very early departure the day we left, and she arranged for the taxi to meet us as well as preparing a breakfast to go.

Nothing could have been better, except a longer stay.

The location is excellent within a 5 minute walk into the centre of Bayeux where you can find many restaurants. One tip is that it’s preferable to pre-book your restaurant evening meals as there are more tourists than dining spaces, and you could be disappointed. Carole, the host at Clos de Bellefontaine kindly provided us with a list of possible restaurants before we arrived. Wonderful accommodation, breakfast with freshly cooked cake/crumble and so much more was absolutely superb, and Carole was charming and so helpful. Would definitely recommend this as an outstanding place to stay and excellent location for visiting the WW2 memorials.

For us there wasn’t anything to dislike at all but it is worth mentioning that in our room there wasn’t a shower (only a bath) and for people with mobility issues this may be a problem.

Breakfast was excellent. Fresh food and drink with an offering of local cheeses. The house was a classic French experience and great location in Bayeux. We especially enjoyed the warm welcome we received from the two pets, Marcel and Bazille. They made the stay even more enjoyable!

Only issue is that there is not a true shower in the upstairs bedroom with twin beds. The room was lovely and bathroom very spacious, but a shower is really a fair expectation in today's travel world.

The property was impeccably maintained - inside and outside. Everything was clean and fully functional. The location was ideal for exploring Bayoux and a reasonable commute to the Normandy attractions. Our host (Carole) was friendly and thorough, and prepared a 5-star breakfast each morning. A positive experience in every respect!

This is NOT a complaint...just a recommendation. If you experience mobility issues and/or are very tall, you may want to consider not staying in the attic (third floor) guest room, as it requires climbing a narrow set of spiral stairs, and the sloped ceilings in the bedroom and bathroom present a potential contact hazard for your head.

Everything! Although it is advertised as a B&B, Clos de Bellefontaine felt more like a luxurious boutique hotel. Carole is an incredible host! The house is beautiful; the gardens lovely. My suite was immaculate. Breakfasts were plentiful and delectable—bread, croissants, homemade jams, orange juice, a bowl of fresh fruit, a huge selection of teas and coffee, a different cheese each day. While I was there I also had brioche French toast and raspberry cake Carole made from raspberries picked from her garden. You can easily walk to the Bayeux Tapestry and the Bayeux Cathedral from the house. Carole suggested restaurants in Bayeux. I sampled two and they were great. Staying at Clos de Bellefontaine was a wonderful experience, one that shouldn’t be missed.

The European shower , being American, we just weren’t use to it

The location was superb, as well as the breakfast that was plenty of fresh fruits, cheeses, egg/pancakes, jams, etc., not to mention the just baked baguettes and croissants. The place is top-notch design, and Nicole was always ready to assist with suggestions, places, and restaurants to visit.

The lack of a door (or even a curtain) in the shower was inconvenient as there were splashes of water all over the bathroom, which is BTW quite large. Also, a holder for the shower was missing, so to get a shower you need to hold the shower by yourself. Not a tragedy but an inconvenience that can be easily solved.

This is a very lovely property. An old home that has been renovated on the edge of town. It is a few minutes walk to town. It is very quiet, well appointed, comfortable and serves a very full breakfast. The garden is beautiful too. We would definitely recommend this, and would love to return here!

The shower for our room was a bathtub with handheld shower. The tub was a bit slippery & would not be too easy for older folks. Though the stairs didn’t bother us, there was no elevator ( very common in France). These were not negative s for us, only something to be aware of when booking.

Breakfast was amazing with a full range of food. The location was perfect, in a quiet area of Bayeux, readily accessible to the main roads to places of interest outside Bayeux but very easily and safely walkable to the town centre within 5/10 minutes to restaurants/bars/Bayeux tapestry/cathedral etc

There was nothing that we didn’t like

First and foremost, the proprietor, Carole, was warm and welcoming. She was extremely helpful and gracious. Each morning she set a lovely table and served an incredible breakfast - delicious with homemade jams, fresh fruit, pastries, crepes and more. Location of your property was ideal to walk to restaurants, meet tour guides, visit the Bayeux Tapestry. We’re very happy we stayed there.
