This is a really lovely hotel, the only mystery being why there were so few guests staying there. There were not that many staff around either and it was all a bit Marie Celeste! Good to be able to park in the small on-site car park though. The decor in the public spaces of the hotel is stunning. Our room was very comfortable, good sized bathroom with a great shower. Despite apparent lack of staff those we encountered were very helpful. The breakfast buffet was also very good

Location is perfect in close proximity to the old town. Personal was nice.

Asked for bath slippers but been refused with the note that it’s only provided to some luxury rooms… Tried to have a breakfast but kitchen wasn’t having sufficient amount of food as it turned we had to warm them one day before about our intention to have a breakfast. Umbrella was provided but it was broken. Bedding and the mattress wasn’t really comfortable however pillows were good.

Amazing Location , leaving in several hotels in Belfort. This one the best.

I prefer to be informed in advance if I need to leave a deposit while checking in. I’ve stayed in the property several times. This is the first time I was asked to pay deposit if 95 Eur. And probably I would like to add: It would be really lovely to be greeted in a more friendly way. Usual: welcome back , how was your flight and have a lovely stay in our hotel. I travel a lot for business and leisure. These words are must have. Grand Hotel is not a cheap hotel and it is a high level hotel. I believe some changes in this attitude will help.

My brother had recently died, and he had previously worked in Belfort staying in room 109 at Grand Hotel Du Tonneau D’or for 2 years. I planned the trip to visit all of his favourite places. I contacted the hotel who advised that they were currently in the process of carrying out renovations at the hotel, and couldn’t guarantee that the room would be ready in time. The hotel is based in the centre of Belfort and in east walking distance to the bars and restaurants. To my delight the hotel pulled out all the stops and had the room ready for our arrival, I couldn’t have been happier. The hotel is stunningly beautiful, the staff on reception were all so friendly, they all spoke English & were so welcoming nothing was too much trouble, they made our stay so comfortable. Our room was stunning with comfortable Ed and air con and all newly refurbished, the en suite was beautiful. The breakfast had a large variety of options available. I would highly recommend this hotel as a wonderful place to stay

Very grand and impressive common areas. The lobby is stunning. The room (superior) was comfortable enough, even if a little boring.

The reception staff were brusque and not particularly welcoming or helpful. There generally seemed to be a shortage of staff across the whole hotel. It didn’t feel like a very welcoming place.

A great hotel . We loved the sense of belle-époque grandeur in the Reception area and our room was really spacious and beautifully appointed . Huge bed and lovely modern bathroom . Also very convenient for the old town _ just 5 minutes walk away and about 15 mins walk (uphill) to the magnificent citadel . The little bag of chocolates left for us in the room was a great touch . Would definitely stay here again if we return to Belfort . Copious breakfast buffet - excellent !

It would have been good to have the option of some pain complet at breakfast .

Location is a 10 minute walk from the train station and restaurants are nearby, as is the (very nice) town square. The room was large and nicely appointed. The lobby is exceptional - a regal Old World feel with a majestic staircase. Very quiet hotel, well maintained and helpful staff.

Breakfast. Too expensive for what was there. And nobody fill out the food so no coffee, no bread.. etc Nobody told me that the Fortress was closed on Tuesday although that was the purpose of my stay there. Very sad

The close proximity to the "old city" and the history that can be viewed in the Citadel museum are the real attractions. The recent renovations are a great improvement to the facility (I had stayed there about 10 years ago). In spite of the renovations, walking into the front door and viewing the grand staircase evokes "history".

The ONLY downside (which is only significant in the event of a "heat wave" is the lack of true air conditioning. The evaporative cooler in the corner of the room helps, but a suggestion is to provide a "lighter" bedspread option as the provided comforters are a bit much in August.

Excellent....definitely the best hotel in Belfort. A touch of class and attention to detail not evident in the corporate branded hotels, well worth a vist and great value.
