A perfect base for a week exploring Besancon and area. Personally managed by the owner. On a historic site at the epicentre of town, at the end of a long courtyard leading off the main street. Terrace and balcony rooms open on to a large mature garden, so very peaceful at night. Excellent bed and bedding, breakfast, (small) bathroom, WiFi, TV. Thank you, Mme Bertin, for your hospitality.

Drivers should be aware of very narrow access and restricted parking space. Those with heavy luggage that this is a four/five-storey building without a lift. Reception on first-floor, rooms on second-floor upwards.

This is a family run hotel, a bit quirky but a delight to stay in. Madame is both helpful and amusing. 'Continental' breakfast - fine. Garden to sit in if the weather is good. Locked garage for bikes. Comfortable room. But it's the atmosphere and otherness that I liked.

Excellent, quiet location in the center of town near the principal sights and plenty of restaurants. Comfortable, well appointed room. For after-hours, you will have a code getting you access to the private alley as well as the front door

A great place tucked away in the centre of town, lovely garden to sit in, clean room, nice little balcony. Slippers and dressing gown were a nice little touch.

Coffee could have been replenished to last for a cup for each day I stayed. Due to the work going on outside, there were no realistic parking facilities.

The host had obviously been a local for a considerable period of time and was able to advise on different activities and places to visit / eat. The hotel was situated right in the center of town. It made walking to restaurants and other parts of Besancon really easy. The room was clean and the bathroom was modern. On arriving, the temperature was the other side of 35 degrees and the room we had originally booked (A family room) was as hot as an oven. The host offered us two rooms on a lower floor for no extra charge. They were significantly cooler and also afforded us more space.

The room was very hot (Its been a bonkers summer) and it made sleeping very difficult. In opening the window, the noise of a large air-conditioning unit for the adjacent building made it very noisy in the room. Parking is available - but its tight and I wasn't prepared to get my E-Class stuck in the narrow passage way to the hotel

Placed just right in the centre of the town. Friendly staff and safe place for our bicycles. Had first rooms in 4th floor, quite hot. Hotel moved us to 3rd floor - very nice.

No elevator.

Comfortable beds, very quiet.

Parking was to little for my family car, no problem but it would have been useful knowing it is a car park for small regular cars. Host very helpful as per where to park but as my own cost.

The hotel is run by an older lady with lots of sense of humor and perseverance. She was a delight. And she really has hart for her business and her clients

the bed linen etc was very clean but the room was in need of renovation and could have been cleaner

Our host was so caring, whilst having no English, worked with us to use goggle translate.

wifi was a little slow and started whirring if we wanted to download a movie.
