One of the really few truly deserved 10 star ratings. Amazing historic house, perfectly maintained, stylishly furnished and with parking and a calm yard. Excellent location, close to everything in the city - the beach, the port, nice restaurant, supermarket and at the same time in a quiet street. I can recommend having breakfast as well, high quality typical for the region products, served in the relaxed garden - a perfect start of the day. And last, but definitely not least the fantastic hosts Laurence and Rodolphe, make you feel like you are visiting old friends who take great care of you, to have your full comfort (speaking fluent English and German as well). When I go back to Normandy will be my mandatory stop

Rodolphe and Laurence were wonderful hosts; delicious local baking and jellies. They woke quite early our last day to accommodate our travel schedule. we are grateful. The house is gorgeous, great location. Hosts very helpful with recommendation for tours and restaurants. They hosted our evening meal with local foods.... delicious and great to promote local.
The seagulls were loud around 4 am each morning....a little confusion with our booking but it worked out well.

We loved staying there! The hosts are wonderful! They were very accommodating and helpful as well as friendly. Thankfully, they both speak English. The house was clean, nicely decorated and the beds were comfortable. The breakfast was great! Homemade yogurt, granola, fresh cut fruit and juices, fresh assortment of breads, eggs if desired, etc. We had a dinner prepared by the hosts and it was delicious! Overall, wonderful!

If you appreciate attention to detail and a personal touch you can’t do better than choose La Cantarellerie for your accommodation on the Normandy coast west of Caen. Rudolphe’s and his wife Laurence have created a charming bed and breakfast venue in their delightful mid 19th century mansion surrounded by walled gardens in a quiet street within easy walking distance of the seafront and beach, the harbour and the centre of Courseulles sur mer. We chose the Deluxe double room with shower, (very modern and efficient) for our three night stay. There was no TV, which suited us, and instead of in- room tea/coffee facilities we enjoyed tea in the delightful lounge or in the well- kept rear garden, brought to us by Laurence who added local delicacies to try. They advertise an ‘exceptional breakfast’ and they are not wrong! Homemade yogurt and granola with fresh minted fruit salad followed by pastries and a selection of homemade jams. We were also offered cold meats, cheese and eggs but we didn’t require anything else. Our Earl Grey tea was poured into bone china cups with saucers which we really appreciated. We were lucky enough to persuade our hosts, who both admitted that they love cooking, to prepare us dinner one evening. It was superb with all the ingredients locally sourced, and accompanied by Rudolphe’s wine recommendations. La Canterellerie is truly ‘Something Special. ‘

Absolutely beautiful hosts . They were always pleasant , interested , helpful and very easy to communicate with . They had an inate sense of what people needed / wanted . We were very late ( which I was so so embarrassed about but it was our fault not checking our messages ) and they were amazingly pleasant about it ! The property itself was in a great location , beautifully maintained and inviting and relaxing . I must add that the dinner Loris cooked ( and Rudolf I think !) was exceptional . One of the best we’ve had in France. I would highly recommend La Cantellerie .
I think I’ve said it all ! Beautiful relaxing

Rodolphe and Laurence are very caring and lovely hosts. Their love and dedication are also reflected in the details of their house and in their home made breakfast that had many culinary tasty surprises. Location is also top: 5 min walk to Juno beach. Weekly street market is around the corner. Top sightseeings can be reached well by car: Omaha beach, Pointe du Hoc, Bayeux, Caen, Arromanche, Cabourg, Deauville, etc. Delicious restaurants directly in Courseulles.

La Chantellerie is a really lovely Chambres d'Hotes in a beautiful mid 19th Century grand Norman town house, 5 minutes walk from Juno beach. We stayed for a week as our son had been studying the D-Day landings at school and wanted to visit. The house itself is peaceful and restful. The new owner, Rodolphe, has opened up the downstairs to have a communal sitting room and enlarged dining room, which give a sense of space and welcome, like being really well looked after at home, which is, by his own admission, what he is wanting to do. The bedrooms are simply finished which gives a very "clean" feel and the bathroom and shower are great. Rodolphe is exceedingly attentive as a host - excellent advice for restaurants, markets, etc. They have a beach hut for use during the day on the lovely and uncrowded beach by the lido, which is very convenient. Rodolphe's great passion, however, is food and entertaining. He arranged a wonderful evening meal on the beach at sunset, where he provided cooked and raw oysters, langoustines, exceptional prawns, brown shrimps, perfectly cooked whelks and his homemade mayonnaise, with a delicious home made dessert and lovely bottle of wine (fizzy drinks for the kids). His breakfasts are also very, very good, featuring loads of home made jams and jellies, home made yoghurt and granola (by his daughter, I believe), with fruits, freshly cooked eggs and a wide selection of croissants, breads and brioche. We weren't able to join his "table d'hote", but the terrine he had made we tasted the following day and it was exceptional. Rodolphe speaks French (of course), English and German fluently (maybe other languages too?) and it was obvious that he really wanted us to have a wonderful time.
Honestly, it was perfect for our needs.

From the moment we arrived we had exceptional service. We were given a coffee then our bags were taken to our room (up 2 flights!). Breakfast was delicious - fresh croissants and breads with a variety of home made jams, home made yoghurt and granola, juice and coffee. We were able to walk to the Juno Beach museum and to the beach, port and restaurants. We were given good advice on places to visit - especially the local Friday market. We would love to stay again!
Nothing to dislike - maybe the stairs would be difficult for some, but it does say that in the booking description.

Hosts Rodolphe and wife Laurence, provide exceptional service. Very peaceful place, a short walk to everything in Courseulles-sur-Mer. Breakfasts and optional dinners were excellent in freshness, quality, and presentation. If you have preferences, they will do their best to accommodate your wishes.
No negatives.
