I think this is the first establishment I've ever stayed at that actually understated their distance from the beach! Our bedroom window was so close to the beach that I swear I could throw a stone from our bedroom into the water at high tide. As there is only a promenade and no road between the hotel and the beach, the hypnotic sound of the gentle waves lapping upon the shore sent us to sleep every night. The bedroom was modern, spacious and clean with views out across Sword beach and down the coast towards Ouistreham. The hotel itself has (in our opinion) the best restaurant in the town with a varied and inspiring menu, and the outside seating area for the restaurant and bar is worth visiting even if it's just to lose yourself for a couple of hours with the view.
We traveled to the hotel on our pushbikes, and despite sending emails to the proprietors prior our visit inquiring about where we could lock them up at night, no-one ever replied to us. Upon arrival to the hotel there was no-one to greet us, just a key with a tag with my name on placed on the counter, so we ended up locking our bikes to railings a short walk from the hotel. No big deal really, but it would have been nice to have been able to talk to someone regarding where it was ok to lock our bikes up.

The room was clean, spacious, and nicely decorated. Air conditioning was a plus, as was the ability to open windows to let fresh air in, if desired. Additional touches, such as bottled water and coffee in the room, were great! The free breakfast was good - fresh fruit, yogurts, bread & croissants/pain au chocolat with various preserves, juices & coffee. The staff were all very pleasant and accommodating to us and our limited French speaking abilities. Also, free parking!

Location, 15 minutes drive from car ferry port, center of the town, very close to promenade and beach. Nice clean room, windows that could be opened, (not reliant on air con) little extras in bathroom, small soap, ear buds etc. Access to hotel was via a door code, sent day before, via e.mail, and key pad was on the desk in small reception area. Never met anyone all through two day stay, which suited us fine!
Breakfast was served in the adjoining restaurant, accessed via an adjoining door at bottom of stairs. Very pleasant lady, but was just bread and pastries, and coffee and juice. Would have loved some fruit, yoghurt etc. Otherwise all nice!l

The location was on the beach. The room was like a suite, with another bedroom attached to it, stunning views over the beaches of Normandy. Fantastic bathroom, and the restaurant was also amazing food. Very close to the “Brittany Ferry” terminal (10 min) If you get nice weather…… it’s brilliant.
The staircase The sea front had loads of beautiful ( old empty or boarded up ) properties. It must have been an affluent sea side town, that became empty…….. but we loved the beach.

Everything about Hotel de la Plage is as easy and convenient as you could possibly hope. With a carpark directly outside, a very attractive bar and restaurant attached and stunning views, it is an exceptional hotel to which we hope to return. Highlights include: Amazing views (our room looked directly onto the sweeping beach. Fantastic, well-stocked bar with friendly staff. Great breakfast (comprising fresh coffee and juice, bread, Croissant and Pain au chocolat). A very comfortable and spacious room. Friendly staff who are available but unobtrusive.
Honestly? Nothing. We enjoyed every aspect of the stay.

On the seafront . Upstairs rooms with lovely big windows and high ceilings. Well equipped. Nice quiet breakfast in the restaurant below the hotel.
Two flights of stairs to room wouldn't suit everyone but not really an issue for me. I was able to leave my bicycle in the small reception area.

What an amazing small hotel. The room was beautiful, luxurious and so very clean. The sea views out of the large windows was exactly what we wanted and being able to see them from the bathroom as well was an added bonus. Breakfast in the restaurant was perfect, fresh and the view was great. Parking was free and easy to obtain.

I am disabled I had no idea I would be confronted with a steep set of stairs to get to my room. It would have been nice to be forewarned. It took us sometime to work out the check in procedure. Again a desciption would have been really helpful rather than struggling after a long journey.
