The location was excellent for its close proximity to the ferry terminal. It was also a very pleasent location and hotel, and superb for travellers to use as a base from which to visit all the WW2 musuems, memorials, D Day beaches, and Bayeau. The hotel itself was really nice with a good sized bedroom and bathroom, very good breakfast, and friendly, helpful staff. The Padam Padam restaurant next door to the hotel serves delicious meals but a 10 to 15 minute walk along the back roads (head for the church and then turn right) takes you to a square in the town with a number of alternative restaurants. Ouistreham is a lovely little town and the countryside in Normandy is beautiful.

Excellent stopover option: accessible to the ferry port and catering for early breakfast and departure. Staff friendly and helpful: we had a medical issue and the night receptionist was very helpful in liaising with local services. The hotel is clean and comfortable, easily accessibly and in pleasant surroundings (a gentle walk into local village). Breakfast was excellent: a wide range of choices and gluten-free options available. The convenience and ambience mean that we plan to use this hotel again on future trips.

Perhaps not an issue about the hotel itself, but the adjoining restaurant, while convenient, was a little underwhelming in terms of welcome and value.

A pleasant room in an accessible hotel with friendly, helpful staff. All seemed clean and tidy. They catered for a dietary request (gluten free). Hotel very well placed for late evening ferry arrival, with reception still open (we chose it for this reason) and secure parking. All sufficient for an overnight stay, and we will use this hotel again. Breakfast pleasant with a good range of choices. Also close to Pegasus Beach memorial, which is well worth a visit.

The wifi code didn't work initially, though we didn't need to rely on this as it happened. Shower space in ensuite a bit limited.

Location. No problem with late arrivals and always always someone there to serve you. Good restaurant attached.

The rooms were modernised a few years ago and as part of the bathroom modernisation an opaque screen was inserted in the wall next to the bedroom. This results in anyone going to the toilet in the night wakes the other occupant of the bed when the light is switched on. These should be painted over. In addition the door to the bathroom is now on a push/pull basis so even if the light doesn't waken the other person the noise from the door will. Should be replaced by proper handles.

Good location close to ferry. Great base for a 4 day visit along the Normandy coastline. All round good hotel, room and breakfast very good, restaurant next door very good, staff excellent. Short walk into town for evenng meal. Nothing really to complain about. Me and friend on motorbikes and appreciated that hotel slightly out of town / out of sight, the on-site parking, perimeter wall / fence and the fact gates closed from midnight to 6am.

Room a little basic but still very comfortable.

I have regularly stayed at this hotel as it is well located for the ferry terminal and onward travel, with secure parking. It is very quiet and rooms are a decent size with good bathrooms. Although I arrived too late for it, there is a restaurant right next door which has a very traditional French menu which looks good.

Breakfast is a little limited, but perfectly adequate. Some might not like the self-service style of breakfasts that are the norm nowadays but it means that there are no delays in extra coffee, tea etc and no fussing: ideal for first thing in the morning.

We stayed her as we were looking for a hotel near to the ferry terminal and were very pleased we chose La Mare O Poissons. The staff could not have been more friendly or helpful and genuinely made us feel welcome, the room was clean and in spite of it being one the coldest days (and night) of the year it was very comfortable. The breakfast was a buffet with a good choice of hot and cold food and drinks. The Padam Padam restaurant adjoining the hotel is recommended, both for the food on offer and it's value for money. We will certainly stay here again.

We asked for a ground floor room which was provided. The bed was comfortable and the shower good. The small bar and snack area was good. The breakfast was first class with a good assortment of food on offer. I thought the coffee from the machine there was some of the best I had had whilst in France The adjoining restaurant had a good menu and the food was very good and well priced. The hotel is well placed for a short drive to the Ferry terminal, but a bit to far to walk into the town centre

For a hotel that caters for a lot of travellers from the UK the in room tea and coffee facilities were not what you would expect in the UK. Paper cups are ok but not when they leak when filled with boiling water. We asked at reception and we're given china ones and additional milk in a jug. I found the floor of the shower tray to be slippery and flexed when you stood on it. I weigh about 90kg.

Excellent location for the ferry, with a good restaurant attached. The restaurant offers many typical French/Normandy dishes and my husband said he had the best onion soup ever. Good staff in the hotel (thank you for your assistance and conversation, Severine) and the room was extremely clean. Definitely a hotel to revisit when back in the area.

I would have liked to have had some coffee available in the room. There were just two tea bags and some coffee creamer. A Nespresso machine and a few pods would have been a great addition.

Bathroom designer should be shot. Ridiculous translucent screen between bedroom and bathroom, so going to the toilet in the night wakes partner up. Cant reach towels from shower because shower door hinged on wrong side. Basin too small, very difficult for wet shaver not to get water all over floor. Not great value for money, rooms could be bigger at this price - or a little cheaper to match competition with similar facilities.
