Divine setting inviting the guest to enjoy long walks around the property in the heart of nature to the sound of babbling brooks with glimpses of the occasional deer grazing peacefully. The lovely owner and her helpful, non-intrusive staff add a sense of the familial here which made us feel welcome and at home. The gastronomic restaurant receives a star from the Michelin Guide (ref. https://guide.michelin.com/gb/en/nouvelle-aquitaine/nieul_1470595/restaurant/chapelle-saint-martin). Sadly, for the two nights at the beginning of the week that we stayed here, the restaurant was not open. However, the dinner menu in the garden restaurant was sufficiently excellent enough to satisfy our tastebuds amply. And the breakfast? Ah, the breakfast! The cheeses, the meats, the bread, and everything else … y’a d’la joie … here you’ll know that you’re in a place where food and hospitality are loved. A better than solid 4-star to return to again and again.

The location suited me perfectly for my journey from Spain to home in the UK. The provision for my dog was brilliant. Bed and bowls provided and wonderful parkland for him to run about in. It’s a lovely hotel.

I thought the breakfast was pricey. 30€ for a croissant, yogurt and coffee. Of course I could have had more but didn’t want more. A more flexible approach to breakfast pricing would be welcome.

Staff were fabulous in each department: reception, bar, waitressing. In particular the lovely young lady with the red hair (sorry forgotten her name) and the sommelier. Cocktail, restaurant meal and the breakfast were absolutely perfect, fresh produce, creative and generous. The garden walks were a bonus.

Supper that night was chaotic run by two seemingly quite inexperienced waiters - they were lovely but when I asked for a vodka and tonic they didn’t know what I meant. They did go and find me a bottle and then managed to find some tonic which they poured into another glass for me to make my own!

There were a few small areas of wear and tear in our bedroom- chipped paint, loose fittings etc - but nothing more than you would expect from a busy well occupied business

Exceptional staff made the hotel feel more like a family home, all staff are young including the kitchen and fabulous chef Henri. would strongly recommend to friends and family.

From start to finish it was an exceptional stay! We were greeted by the most helpful staff and the whole way through the couldn’t of done enough for us. The food lived up to its reputation - absolutely perfect.

The location is good to explore the area and the limoges manufactures during the day and lounge at the pool late afternoon. It's a retreat. The staff is nice and discreet, the rooms are cosy and have almost all you might need (some amenities are missing and some were not replaced the next day), the setting is pretty and you can have all your meals on the property which is convenient.

I wish there were spa services, pool-side service, heated pool and a wider choice on the more casual restaurant's menu. I was really not very impressed by the Michelin starred (1 star) restaurant - it wasn't bad, it just wasn't great, but it also was not very expensive for that category. I was also disappointed with the underwhelming quality of the breakfast (a lot old and stiff cakes and croissants...).
