The hosts are exceptional, from offering to help bringing in our bags, asking if we would like tea or coffe on our arrival, booking a restaurant for dinner, sharing their knowledge on the history of the area and where to visit, making sure we were happy where we were parked. Lots of parking on a quiet road directly outside the house in a quiet neighbourhood. They will share with you the history of the building, our room was large, bed very comfortable, dressing gowns provided. Wonderful shower in the ensuite. Being able to sit in the garden was lovely. Location in the town was ideal for walking down to the local restaurants. Although the property is on a hill it is not a difficult walk. There is also parking near the restaurants. We arrived as guests left as friends, we hope our travels allow us to stay again.

Very nice building with a rich history. Very friendly guests and Mathieu is a great storyteller. He knows a lot about history and the history of the building.

Everything was really great but just one recommendation: dinner was quite basic. But I do realise that our hosts wanted to help because of limited availability in the city.

Superb ensuite room in a French town house. We felt like French aristocracy. The owners were charming and very accommodating to our needs. They had a secure place to keep our touring bicycles. The property is quite close to town. Lovely breakfast.

A lovely spacious room with impressive Napoleonic architecture (very high ceilings) and a lovely finish. Breakfast was great with a delicious assortment of home made jams. Parking is on street, but plentiful and free of charges. The owners are very friendly and welcoming.

The location is ideal, in the middle of the town with safe off street parking, within the grounds of the hotel. The property has historic interest and the rooms reflect this. Highly recommended

Matthew and Vanessa gave us a friendly welcome and we enjoyed a nice evening with them. The room was very large and authentically furnished, absolutely comfortable with a spacious shower. In the morning after a great breakfast we had to say goodbye again, our journey continued. Many thanks and all the best.

The Hotel d'Herce is an utterly charming historic property owned and run by the charming Vanessa and Matt Williamson. The location was perfect - right in the heart of Mayenne and with secure parking right outside the front door. Breakfast was delicious and Matt and Vanessa were extremely welcoming...even to the extent of rustling up some delicious food for me on the evening of my arrival. I'd recommend the Hotel d'Herce without any hesitation whatsoever.
