Lovely room and location for the stay at this Domain . The pool housed in the wine cave area was just perfect on a red hot day . Our room was at the top of the house and very comfortable in period furniture and we had access to the large kitchen area below where meals were taken , or out in the terrace where we had breakfast . Our host was helpful , even with my poor French we could hold conversation . Unfortunately the restaurant ( the primary reason we booked here ) wasn’t open on the night we stayed which was disappointing however the proprietor made up a huge charcuterie platter for us and we had a gorgeous bottle of wine from a producer just down the road . The village itself was pretty for an evening stroll .

Disappointed that restaurant was not open that day as I would to have preferred to been told before making commitment to book . That said the Charcuterie platter was amazing !

Really great meal cooked by the host. Nice sleepy village and triple room was spacious. Swimming pool in the basement was good. Breakfast nice.

It was very clean, the host was a nice man and we really liked the swimming pool. We hardly speak French but we managed to get it right with the host. Highly recommended. (he was also a really nice dog)

The owner seemed to lack engagement with the guests. Perhaps he was just having a hard day.

A nice, rustic property situated in the lovely village of St Romain. Great location and nice to have the feature pool in the old wine cellar to cool down in on a hot day.

It was very expensive for what it was. We arrived after booking and prepaying online only to find the owner had double booked and given our room to someone else. He quickly rectified the mistake and we waited in the sunshine while he changed things round. On getting into the room we found the bathroom to be musky and damp, as it had already been used by the previous family and not been cleaned properly. The main bed duvet was also wet, we assume from someone sitting on it after they had showered. We stayed 2 nights and paid over £300 per night for what was billed as the deluxe family room. It was certainly rustic and had a charm to it, but there were lots of loose floor tiles that posed a trip hazard and resulted in our children stubbing their toes when they walked on them. The blinds didn’t cover the windows properly and one of them was broken. Some of the lights didn’t work and the shower in the bathtub had to be held with one hand whilst showering. The shower curtain was also stained and in need of replacing. Breakfast was basic and more could have been offered for the price I think. A basket of croissants/pain au chocolat, orange juice, coffee, basic rolls and a yogurt pot each. The kids were happy enough and got hot chocolate one morning but the following morning everything was just left out, there weren’t enough croissants for everyone and the owner had subsequently disappeared. We resorted to going into the kitchen ourselves to heat milk for the hot chocolate and to make more coffee. The pool was nice and allowed us to cool off on a hot day and it is a strikingly attractive feature. If you want to use the hammam however, it’ll cost you an additional €30 per session per couple, or €50 Euros for a group of 3 or more. Given the cost of the room I was surprised this was an extra. For the price we were expecting a little more care and attention.

Unfriendly owner. From the start we didn’t feel welcome. During breakfast he came by just before check out time to make us wrap up breakfast. We asked him on why he wasn’t friendly and what we had done wrong and he said he knew we were “stinky” from the beginning. We are young parents traveling with a baby. We requested a cot, it wasn’t set up but provided in a bag. Once we took it out we realized it was useless and broken, the mattress was super thin and no sheets provided. Luckily we had a back up plan.
