Location, location, location. And the two rooms (1D, 1T)/shared bathroom had a gorgeous little courtyard where we had breakfast (I popped to the local boulangerie for fresh pastries).

I may have not looked properly on plan but had to book an extra double on arrival as the 2 bedrooms/shared bathroom format only works for a family with small children. As basically you go in, enter into a double room, then go through the shared bathroom to the extra double (and mezzanine) single). ie to exit the room those in the second room had to go through the first bedroom. This wasn't practical for the 5 adults we had sharing.

The location of this hotel couldn't be better. Right on the harbour side with plenty of restaurants and activity on the doorstep. Even though we were harbourside with wonderful views, we didn't find it noisy. We were welcomed at reception and the room was very good. We didn't expect to be harbourside but it was a total bonus that we were. We travel with 2 dogs, both of which were welcomed and the hotel provided a bowl and small beds, which was very kind. A note to say how comfortable the bed and linen was.

I was surprised that the reception was just a door alongside a restaurant and the hotel essentially sits above the restaurants, but on reflection it really didn't matter. We were welcomed and the room was very good. We didn't expect to be harbourside but it was a total bonus that we were.

Hôtel du Port is excellently situated to enjoy very pleasant setting of Saint Martin-de-Re. The room was very clean and comfortable with plenty of storage space, and we had a good view of the harbour. Our dog was made most welcome with a bed and bowl placed ready in the room before our arrival. Staff were extremely helpful and friendly and spoke English if required. We enjoyed the breakfast, particularly the home made yoghurt, and a cooked option was offered if required. This hotel was perfect for our 2 night stay and we would strongly recommend it.

In March parking was not an issue because the car park around the corner was free but in summer there would be a charge, although there is a year-round free car park a little further away.

The room was comfortable, and the personnel was competent and cordial. The location is excellent with restaurants, also for very pleasant breakfasts, just in front of the hotel

The only negative aspect of our stay was a very annoying and worrying defecty in Booking.com's reservation system. After having received confirmation of full advanced payment form my bank and from the hotel, I continued to receive messages from Booking.com indicating that I needed to do something because there were problems with my reservation. Thankfully the hotel was able to confirm that all was in order. But Booking. com's last scary message arrived on the LAST day of our one week stay. Booking. com needs to put it's house in order in this regard. Adrian Misarti

Location is perfect. Breakfast is beautifully presented and is very good value. The selection of homemade yogurt and basket of pastries was excellent value compared with what was available. The staff are so efficient they presumed one would have the same hot drink every morning as the first morning. I would prefer to be asked as one can often like a change. Beds are very comfortable and pillows are of exceptional quality. I slept at the back and the room was very quiet.

The hotel explains very well that it doesn’t have a lounge or lift. It’s a pity but it is clear so one understands. An older person or anyone with mobility difficulties needs to be aware of the stairs.

Location was excellent- and there was parking nearby ( not easy in St Martin). Room was basic but very clean and comfortable with good bathroom. Staff were extremely friendly and helpful.

The hotel’s excellent location inevitably means that it can be noisy until the restaurants - and particularly the ice cream parlour - close. The lack of staff overnight meant there was no-one to deal with an unpleasant guest who arrived back at 3:15am and woke everyone in nearby rooms by banging on his door increasingly noisily as he tried to wake his wife to let him in.

We had a wonderful stay at the Hotel du Port. We could tell that the room was recently renovated, as it felt fresh and was super clean and beautifully decorated. The bathroom was very modern and exceptionally clean. And best of all was the front desk staff. The woman who checked us in was wonderful. Not only was she flexible with our check in time (this was hugely appreciated), but she was incredibly friendly and even took the time to walk us to our room to show us around. We would definitely stay at Hotel du Port again, and I highly recommend it as well.

The location is perfect, close to all the restaurants and shops. Rooms were spotless. We were a group of 5 women . We had a double room and the harbour suite. The double looked out onto a small courtyard, and the suite looked out to the harbour. The suite was amazing. We didn't have breakfast here, so I can't comment on it. The air-conditioning was perfect.

To use the hairdryer in the bathroom, you have to keep a button on it pressed in all the time. It wasn't very comfortable to use.

Really central location in heart of St Martin in the harbour close to shops and restaurants. Rooms really modern and clean. Superb views of have harbour facing rooms. We had a double and a family room (4). Family room excellent and spacious. Staff really helpful. The harbour area is a timed vehicle access. We had a car and car parks very close by. We also required a taxi for an airport transfer and came right into harbour to hotel door.

We arrived to a very friendly welcome from gentleman on reception.. rooms allocated which were very clean..maybe bit on small size but perfectly acceptable, our dog had a bed and a bowl in the room. Very comfy bed and lovely clean bedding.. we had a wonderful view of the harbour..brilliant position for exploring.. we didn't have breakfast in the hotel but had it in the cafe just outside.. very good value

Rooms were maybe little bit small but we were hardly in them.
