The ambiance in the dining/reception area, the wonderfully integrated art deco original decor and architectural features.

Several groups of guests were staying for a weekend long event in a nearby town which involved two and sometimes three trips per day, and had no transport. The train is frequent and convenient, but the station at the destination is a big walk for people with mobility issues. The hotel was ideally placed to coordinate a shuttle bus.

Room was a good size with a very comfortable large bed. Huge smart TV and tea & coffee in the room. Nice buffet breakfast.

No catering on a Saturday. Originally booked a Half Board Saturday night stay, only to be informed afterwards that their kitchen would not be open during our stay! So cancelled and rebooked the cheaper Bed & Breakfast option. The private parking option as stated on Booking.com was non apparent. When enquired about at check in I was informed all parking was free on-street. ! was slightly concerned about unsecured on-street parking initially and was right to be so. In the morning I found my car had been vandalised overnight having the rear wiper snapped off.

The room was adequate. The double glazing was excellent. We couldn't hear a pretty busy road outside. The bar and dining room area was beyond expectation and was a little bit of the 'grand' in the hotel name. We had pre-booked dinner and the table d'hote was superb.

We arrived at breakfast at 9am. It was a little disappointing that the staff did not re-supply the cooked breakfast tureens but overall we enjoyed breakfast.

Great convenient vicinity, clean, nice breakfast

Staff didn’t speak very good English and supplies in our room not replenished well. Had to ask reception for a second bath towel and fit extra milk ( for 2 of us) no regular tea only green tea supplied. Not easy to regulate air con and because of lack of English spoken didn’t ask for help with this.

The breakfast is delicious, the beds are comfortable, the room is nice and cozy, the food at the restaurant within the hotel is delicious, plus the hotel itself is in a very convenient walkable area as well as cycling and transit area to do some sight seeing. The vibe in Valenciennes is very cultural.

The location was super, in 2min you were inside the trainstation. They let us take our bikes into the room, for which we used the elevator one by one. The breakfast (14€/pp) was very diverse and good! Also, cheap price for the stay (less than 40€/night).

We would have preferred to not have carpet everywhere.

A good sized, quiet room on 4th floor and a good but rather small lift to it. Location was close to the city centre and the Xmas market and there was a very convenient parking spot.

Not sure there was anything we did not like

We were met at the reception by a very friendly and helpfull member of staff, getting us a room close to the lift, as my partner has got waking disabillities. The room was very Clean, a good size and the bed was very Comfortable. The Staff in the Restaurant were very friendly and helpfull as well and the food was great. The Breakfast has a great variety to choose from, including a boiled or scrambled egg.

A great Place to stay. We were very happy with our stay at the hotel.

Breakfast was good and the offer was wide, storage of luggage was possible, Wi-Fi worked well, friendly personal

no complains, maybe the breakfast could been open longer than until 9:30

Very good location, the privilage double room was fantastic and very good money/value ratio!! Good breakfast!

Was a bit noisy by night but that’s the location being opposite the Gare !
