Lovely large deluxe room at the quieter back of the hotel. We had to ask to be moved from our original room overlooking the noisy main street at the front of the hotel. Good secure bike storage in a locked cage under the hotel, accessible from the car garage. Bike repair tools available. Good varied breakfast buffet. Reception staff helpful, but not always friendly. English spoken by all staff. Carpet and seating area in room made it very comfortable. Bed and bedding comfortable. Dressing gown, small refrigerator and coffee machine in room.

Small shower cubicle, barely big enough for one person. No kettle in room. No safe in room. Room was hot on arrival and air conditioning did not cool it down, but opening the windows worked well, except when people smoked cigarettes on the patio below our windows.

The welcome hotel does exactly what it says on the tin. It is a home away from home with friendly staff, comfortable accomodation, and best of all, very fast access to the old town via the Oberstadt Aufzug, 30 seconds walk away, just across the road. I had chosen it because, as a visually impaired person and a Guide Dog owner, I wanted somewhere that not only would be accepting of my Guide Dog, but from where I would be able to reach the Oberstadt easily despite being entirely unfamiliar with the area - and it didn’t disappoint in this regard. There were absolutely no issues with my dog, and all of the staff were happy to help me as required. My room too, was excellent, including a lovely long bath tub, quite a change from the tiny ones usually found in hotels. I also thoroughly enjoyed breakfast the next morning, with a good selection and good quality items. All in all, I felt that my Guide Dog and I were genuinely welcome in the hotel and I would definitely stay again if I ever return to Marburg.

Nothing much. I found it slightly weird that the hotel lift is reached up a step, which slightly defeats the object of having one - but the staff made sure I was aware of it and it never caused me a problem at least. Overall though I really enjoyed my stay and wish it could have been a little longer.

Fantastic location just a few steps away from the lift to the old town.

Extremely expensive for what it is, twice as much as we paid elsewhere in Germany for a similar level of accommodation. Poor hot food selection at breakfast if you are on a plant-based diet - just baked beans! Could hear all the noise from the street below in our room, a lot of drunken shouting into the early hours at the weekend.

Breakfast buffet was extensive and good. Location was excellent. The elevator to the old city was right across from the hotel.

The shower was one of those tiny corner/rounded units which was incredibly small. I kept slamming my arms into the sides while trying to wash my hair. Staff were mostly unwelcoming, with a couple of exceptions. Had no flexibility for an earlier check-in. Of course, there are check-in times for a reason but every other hotel I’ve stayed in, after an overnight flight to Europe, has made an attempt to find us a room, or let us know when one was finished with cleaning. Staff kept repeating ‘check in time is 3 pm’ without even trying.

We are staying in the Hotel for 3 nights. We are so happy and lucky to have the very kind and helpful Cathy, Reception manager in the reception when we checked-in. She has tried her very best to show the Hotel’s real welcoming hospitality! Not only she has kindly and thoughtfully helped us with the room, but also with our parking.   Our special thanks also go to Tram who has also helped us lot during our stay. We also very happy with the nice service and help of the housekeeping and restaurant . The hotel is in an excellent location with the free elevator just in the other side of the street to go up to the old town!  The rooms are quite big and the breakfast has a great variety of different choices. Marburg is very beautiful old town and we would love to come back and stay in your hotel again!

Great location near the aldstadt - just across the road & up in the lift to the old town. Easy car parking under the hotel (paid parking) lots of space. Large comfy rooms with TV, coffee maker & toiletries in bathroom. Excellent breakfast - good choice of hot & cold. Helpful & friendly staff

Spacious room. Rather quiet but that might have been because it was not a busy period and a quiet Sunday-Monday night. Good beds.

The shower was very small. The door to the room did not close well and could not be locked properly from the inside. The breakfast was ok, but not outstanding, neither in quality nor in choice. Elevator very slow, but stairs proper and bright. No possibility to block the view from opposite houses without turning the room dark.

Location is great. Parking is easy (but no free parking, and have to pay every time you go out). Room is a great size and convenient (there is a desk to work on).

The shower - it was small, it leaked and it had exposed hot and cold water pipes, the hot water pipe got very very hot and when I touched it I burned my fingers a few times (and because the shower was very small, I touched the pipe by accident a few times even while trying to avoid it). Other than the shower, the hotel is great.

The Welcome Hotel has a fantastic, unbeatable location in the very heart of the town of Marburg, Germany. We were in town to attend a friend’s wedding and we never were more than 5-10 minutes walk than all of the event locations. The town of Marburg has a very steep hill in the middle of the town but fortunately there is a free elevator immediately across from the Welcome Hotel. Most of the restaurants and notable attractions are on top of the hill so the elevator was very helpful. In terms of the room itself, the bed was really comfortable. The bathroom was a good size but the shower stall was on the smaller side (especially compared to the standard shower stall size in the US). Another highlight of the Welcome Hotel is the very extensive and appetizing breakfast buffet they offer. They have a massive breakfast space for the guests. Things can get a little crowded and chaotic during the peak of the breakfast rush but not too bad. We enjoyed the eggs, various breads and the largest muesli / fruit/ nuts/ yoghurt bar we have seen. Part of the breakfast seating area is outside so it was a treat to dine al fresco.

Something that management should look into addressing is the door between the indoor and outdoor breakfast space. The staff seemed to prop it open for their convenience since the weather was nice and their hands were full of plates being cleared. However, some guests kept closing the door because they might have disliked the breeze (it was actually quite nice). Management should look for an automatic door solution for the sake of their staff.

Location is perfect for allowing some site seeing after work. Rooms are basic but clean and comfortable. Staff are very friendly and helpful. View from the hotel room was amazing!

The shower screen in room 314 is leaking so I had to use most of my towels to mop up the water from the floor. the pillows on the bed are far too big and I could not sleep without my neck aching.
