I have travelled to many places and have stayed at fine hotels yet this one stands out above the rest. The property looks beautiful in the photos, however reality is far better. On arrival what impresses is the grandiose entrance, the large and beautiful gardens and the wonderful reception building. The setting itself is magnificent, a vast property floating above the sea in a tranquil environment with world class architecture. The rooms impress with their size and height of ceiling. Most importantly the quality of construction material and decoration is above that of any 5 star hotel I have visited. This hotel was not built to rent but was built to the highest standards that few can afford for their private residences. The driving force behind this project seems to be not profit but the pursuit of perfection. As for the people and service, you instantly feel you are at home and you have know them for a long time. Simply perfect!!

Bassa maina is one of the kind, with top facilities (pool with view, restaurant and lounging areas) and surroundings with a spacious and comfortable suite. But what makes Bassa Maina exquisite and wanting you to not leave forever this hotel is the staff - the team is professional, but warm; helpful and kind; and knowledgeable of the area. They will ensure you have the best experience in Mani. Thank you for everything.

Aesthetically amazing property, beautiful appointed with amazing views, the pool is also fabulous

The chef was off sick during our stay, we were not told until an hour before we arrived, there was no alternative given for the restaurant being shut other than a list of recommended restaurants, the hotel is too far away from Limeni town to be driving to dinner every night. The staff that were there were lovely but they were clearly short of staff, you had to go hunting for someone to get a drink by the pool.

The staff is friendly, yet professional, helpful and effective. Rooms are located in very nicely built separate houses, with stone walls, wooden floor, Italian shower, high beam supported ceiling, red tile roof, wonderful sea view. Everything has been thought to fit in the typical Mediterranean sea side greek landscape (although there is no direct access to the sea). Food is very good too and the staff strives to satisfy the client's specific requests. The only small improvement I would suggest is for a hotel of this standing to accept the Amex card for payment.

Bassa Maina is stunningly beautiful, from the beautiful pool to the views and sunsets. The Villas and rooms are so tasteful decorated. Quiet and peace…we love it here

All the staff are wonderful but could have done without the grumpy waiter at the restaurant in the evening. He looked like he’d been begrudgingly brought in on his day off…he did this beautiful restaurant no favours.

Stunning property, beautiful view and very peaceful. The villas were spacious and clean, the beds super comfortable. Angeliki was very welcoming and helpful. We would definitely return this place is amazing.

I really enjoyed my stay there—very nice location with a fantastic view. Also, the staff and owners were very polite. The Jacuzzi is an excellent addition to the room where you can relax in the afternoons and enjoy the view. Finally, the breakfast was delicious.

There were some issues with the internet, which were solved at some point (unfortunately the cell reception is poor, so without internet this can be an issue). I found the restaurant expensive compared to what we ordered.

Distance from the sea, and lack of a good beach in the area. But this is a characteristic of the Mani area.
