A lovely, clean family run hotel! we were greeted so warmly and treated so well during our stay. The rooms were very clean and the grounds were well kept with a beautiful pool and bar area. The home cooked breakfast buffet had a lot of options and was more than enough food. Very convenient to all areas of the island and you can arrange anything you need from a ride to a sightseeing ticket through the front desk. Such a lovely family running the hotel! We really enjoyed our stay.

For somebody who does not swim very well I think a pool with the same level throughout the pool would be more ideal. However it did not stop me from using the area.

At the airport I met some friends who informed us there were local buses that we could have used during our stay. If that is the case I felt it was not dacent on the part of those we met at the hotel not to inform us of this bus service causing us to use the expensive taxis all the time during our stay.. I like dealing with honest people at all times and this will be a memory I have taken back to Ireland. Beware beware when organizing a trip to town taxi or bus!!

We have returned to Hotel Star many times. We are warmly welcomed and find the hotel ideal for what we want. The rooms are comfortable with modern bathrooms and it is ideally located for the airport, ferry port and exploring the island. It is great to return to a lovely swimming pool and padded sun-beds to relax in the afternoon with a cool drink from the bar pool. Chris and Linda Hoyle

some of the most lovely people I have ever met. nothing is too much. a great hotel that caters for all.. we stayed as a big family with kids, was fab great location and amazing trips they helped us with. it really does make a difference when people care about the guests.. I will 100% be back ! keep doing what your doing hotel star its appreciated

Beautiful property, spotlessly clean, spacious rooms and lovely pool area. The small village of Megalochori is just a 10 minute walk, there are restaurants, bars and a few trinket shops. If you wish to travel to other resorts and you don’t want to hire a car this place is perfect, the bus stop is a few minutes walk and will take you all over the island for approx €2 each way. We used the bus service nearly every day with 2 children - can’t fault it.

What an incredible place! Everything needed for a magical vacation is within reach. You can even watch both the sunrise and sunset from your own terrace without leaving the hotel. The room is more than just comfortable, and let the details be a surprise for you. The owners are very friendly; they will tell you and show you everything they know and help with anything you need. If you visit, be sure to order a cappuccino; it's the best in the world!

The only downside is the proximity to the road, especially if you like to sleep with an open window. On my next trip, I'll definitely bring earplugs. I can't wait to return again!

Rooms are amazing with good views, great comfort. The pool is well maintained and the family running it were extremely nice and accommodating. We were a large group of 14. It’s also close to some nice bakeries and eateries - the town is cute and fun to walk around.

The pool closed early 😕 wish it stayed open until 9 or 10pm.

Hotel is well located and walkable to the village of Megalochori. Room was spacious and comfortable with nice view of the water from everywhere on the property. Nice pool area and friendly staff.

Nothing to do with the hotel, but know that taxi service is very expensive and somewhat unreliable. I would suggest you have the hotel help with taxi/transfer to/from airport or ferry port as Uber confirmed my reserved taxi to the airport the night prior and then in the morning, the app said "no drivers available'... thankfully the hotel was able to call and get me a taxi (took 3 tries though!) to the port so I could catch my ferry.

It is out if the hubbub of Thira but not too far to be amongst it each day. The owners were exceptional, helping us with bookings including car hire and trips. Breakfast each day at a small fee was delicious. The small Interesting town of Megalachoria was close by- with beautiful shops and tavernas. We also realised that if you walked down the street a short way and across the road you could view the caldera - a bit of a treat at sunset. Loved our stay.
