The view from our room was worth the small upgrade...stunning lava field landscape across to the lake and a wonderful 'weather' viewing spot too! The weather changed every half hour (or quicker!) and it was great to watch the clouds, rain, sunlight, mist & rainbows morph & develop, either form the protection of the very comfortable room or on the veranda. Despite it being quite a large hotel the rooms were quiet and private. Breakfast was busy but there was plenty of choice and availability, including for specific diets and all enjoyed with the wonderful view. A great hotel for a base in the area as there is lots to see and enjoy & the staff were always very helpful & courteous. There are also a couple of good restaurants & cafés nearby if you don't fancy the hotel dinner, though the menu was good and the food very tasty.

The music in the dining room was pretty tinny and the layout quite stark which unfortunately gave the area a less welcoming space than it could have been - reminiscent of a motorway stop dining area but thankfully rescued by the stunning view! A couple of softer touches to the table layout and new speakers might make a big difference?

Nothing bad， only a little bit expensive

The room we booked was moderate and clean. We were lucky that there was a small balcony, it’s good enough to give us the chance to feel the fresh air around Mývatn area. The hotel is not far from the attractions around Mývatn, East & North Iceland, driving to Húsavík where you could do whale watching, to Goðafoss, to Dettifoss, are all within 1 hour. The view provided by the hotel restaurant is just great, and the breakfast selection is good

For us, the restaurant and the bar at the hotel are closed a bit early, 9 PM and 10 PM - we wish we could have more time to enjoy

The hotel was clean modern and comfortable to stay in. The restaurant was sleek and yet not over the top. The food was delicious and they gave you a decent portion. We purchased the breakfast option at time of booking which I feel is always necessary on travels. The options were all there and the food was good. We had a beautiful view of the lake and we were able to have a stunning view of the northern lights right from the window. We did go out to see them but did not need to. The location is beautifully secluded from the lights of cities and surrounded by mountains, volcanos and water it was perfect for a get away. I wish we would have stayed longer.

The shower stall is a bit tiny but that's not a deal breaker.

I loved the big window looking out on to the lake, the sky & beyond. I loved the bathroom - a counter big enough to hold toiletries, a shower that contained the water. I enjoyed the dining room - dinner in the evening & the full breakfast buffet in the morning. I even took advantage of the picnic lunch offered. Bonus: I saw the Northern Lights for the first time in my life from the big window looking out at the sky in the middle of the night! : )

The only thing I didn't like was that the parking lot was not cleared of the snow.

The location and the customer reviews were the main reason we selected this hotel and we were not disappointed on any level. We did see the Northern Lights. The hotel is beautiful! Great buffet breakfast, staff were helpful, friendly, and professional. We were on a 10-day self-drive trip around the country. Each day we embarked on a new adventure and moved to another hotel as we made our way around the Ring Road and exploring off the beaten path at any given opportunity. Our room was well equipped, comfy bed, nice hot shower, with a great view which was what we needed after a long day of hiking and exploration.

Everything was perfect!

The triple room was spacious and nicely decorated. The little balcony was a nice touch that we were not expecting. The hotel has beautiful surroundings, it was still beautiful even though we didn’t pick a room with lake view, it would have been nicer with a lake view though. The breakfast was really nice.

Previous reviews here mention the hotel providing aurora wake up calls, we enquired with reception and they said they don’t offer it because the reception is not open 24 hours. This was very disappointing because we chose this hotel thinking they would offer this service.

Hotel was clean and nice. Beautiful view of the lake. The sauna was good and so was breakfast.

We had a lake view room, the first day it was so sunny and it was baking the room. Our room was unbearably hot and there was only a very small window. We had to sit with the room door open to try cool it down and so did many other people on our floor. The room was very hot all through the night.

The best place I stayed along the ring road (with Fosshotel Glacier Lagoon being a close second, only because of a stained bedsheet found in the latter). Above average breakfast. Unfortunately, my room did not face the lake but the view was still green and pleasant.

There are flies in all of Iceland, and we had to keep the windows closed to keep them out. It can get slightly stuffy as a result.

Stayed one night. Location is 5 minutes outside town with views of Lake Mývatn and crater from dining and common areas. Room was clean and modern. Bed was very comfortable. Breakfast was good quality with many options. Dinner was excellent - had chicken breast with mushroom risotto and blue ling. The chicken dish was the standout. Hotel is close to Mývatn Nature Baths. Only regret was staying just one night.
