My partner and I stayed at Elda guesthouse in early June for just over a week and absolutely loved it. It suited us really well with it being good value for money and very close to the Myvatn lake (great if you're a keen wildlife photographer like my boyfriend or enjoy a long cycle/run like myself!) The staff were really friendly and helpful, working hard to prepare delicious breakfasts (including salads, meats, cheeses, yoghurts, croissants, pastries, bread etc) and keep the place clean and tidy. All the staff were so kind to us, for example preparing a little breakfast the night before our early morning flight for us. In terms of other amenities, the guesthouse had everything you need for self catering with an oven, fridge and cooking facilities. There is also a supermarket just a couple minutes walk away and a hotel just down the road where we sometimes went to enjoy an evening drink and a game of chess! I also hired a bike one day. Overall, we would highly recommend this place for people with similar interests and values to us :)

Nothing we didn't like but would recommend a couple of board games to have around on rainy days :)

Even though the place was old it was very clean and comfortable. Our room was clean and bed was reasonably comfortable (a little hard) Plenty of hot water No stairs to carry luggage up. Parking was quite close for us. The breakfast was very good and quite a bit of variety.

No hooks, hanging space or shelving in the bathroom to put our things on or hang our clothes and towel. We don’t like putting our things on the toilet as this is not hygienic. Limited power points in room especially with a sleep machine. Couldn’t check in until 5pm. Walls were very thin. There were ten agents in the next room and while it was still early enough they made a lot of noise and were banging on the walls.

It was a clean, quiet, comfortable retreat after a long day. The staff was very friendly and helpful, and check-in was easy.

Because it’s like a dorm room style, where everyone has their private rooms, but a big shared kitchen and two shared bathrooms, we had to be very quiet when we returned after 10 PM. Typically, we would stay up and chat quietly, but we couldn’t do that here, as the walls were quite thin, and we did not want to wake our neighbors. All around a great place, and much more affordable than some of the bigger hotels, just not the place to be loud and social after hours if that’s your goal.

Apart from being a short drive away from most of the Myvatn area natural wonders and sightseeing spots, as well as the Myvatn Nature Baths, the guesthouse is also near a supermarket and a gas station as well as couple restaurants a short walk away. This was one of the few exceptions in Iceland where we had someone at the reception for check-in. While we had booked a room for two people, we were given a triple room, therefore it was a nice spacious room. As elsewhere in Iceland, the beds were comfortable with nice clean sheets and a warm blanket. There was a very decent breakfast included in our fare and we really enjoyed it in the morning.

There is not really much to complain about. While on the looks of it, this guesthouse (especially its "main" building) maybe looked a bit older compared to other guesthouses within the same segment we've stayed on our trip, overall it is a great option if you're planning to stay around Myvatn area.

Excellent breakfast buffet each day. If you want to explore the main sights of Myvatn the location is great! It is also very close to the only grocery store in Myvatn. We had two nice rooms.

Quite late check-in (5 pm). Be aware that the kitchens are very small and can only accommodate one family eating at the time. We were lucky with the weather, so we could also sit out and eat. Bring earplugs as some noise travels from the hallway to the room, but the other guests were mindful of not making too much noise.

Location could not be any better, so close to so of the area highlights such as the baths, the krafla crater, geothermal area Hverir… Staff is very nice and available You have two bathrooms per unit where there are three rooms, so quite unlike you have to wait to have one to use

Wifi was always reliable I guess this is not property’s fault but sometimes toilets and shower water smell was simply unbearable, probably due to leveraging geothermal resources. It smelled just like Hverir, which again was hard to handle Units are a bit packed and tight, so if you have neighbors using kitchen or bathroom you will get some noise

Good location with easy access to restaurants by car. Room is clean and comfortable

Only 2 bathrooms for sharing among 11-12 guests; should consider to have the WC and the Bathroom separated. Also the hair dryer is inside the bathroom makes it a long wait during peak hours

The people at Eldá Guesthouse were so friendly. It’s really cosy! Everything is clean and well organized. The kitchen was really good equipped with everything you need. Also the breakfast was so delicious. I ordered gluten free bread but forgot to mention it at check-in, so in the morning it was not defrosted. But instead they baked me some gluten free pancakes in the morning which was so nice and absolutely delicious! We would definitely book again ❤️

very nice and friendly stuff, the room was ok. definately on plus can be counted the sink in the room. it was warm enough and clean. check in and check out without any problems. also no problem to park a car. good location - close to main attactions in the area.

the kitchen was very small. usually everybody wants to use it in the evening to cook a dinner. the size allows just one person to cooking and there was 4 or 5 rooms in the place. every accomodation in this area is expensive, compring value for regional prices the Elda guesthouse was ok

Comfortable twin room with own sink, shared bathroom, shared kitchen and breakfast provided. Very friendly helpful staff. We were thrilled with the gluten free breakfast they prepared for two of the family including pancakes, cinnamon rolls and bread. Although the accommodation looks like a scouting hut from outside, it feels modern inside. Great location close to main tourist sights. Would definitely stay here again.

It happens everywhere, but other people can be so noisy when they leave early in the morning!
