Best quaint hotel in Iceland (oldest by the way)! Nestled on the beautiful northern coast with a wonderful restaurant with classic Icelandic offerings this will be one of your favorite stays during your time in Iceland. The rooms are spacious and romantic, while authentic but updated. The pictures don’t do it justice. Great hot tub in the back and sitting areas in the reception if you have a group. The Viking Museum is just around the corner along with the Hofos Swimming pool about 15 minutes away. If you are a huge Icelandic Horse fan this is the countryside for you with a local show stadium near by and great stables to ride call Icelandic Horse Tours.

This was our favourite accommodation of ten in total on our Iceland adventure! It was utterly charming in every way! Our room was in the attic, the building beside the main, and completely comfy and quiet. We learned that this hotel is where people stayed while they waited for their ship to take them to Canada and America to their new life - very moving. Breakfast was delicious with the standard cold offerings like breads, cheese, ham, eggs, jams, cream cheeses, pastries, etc - but it was dinner that really impressed! They have a tiny seasonal menu - like one fish dish, one vegetarian, and one lamb - but the lamb was the most tender and delicious I have ever tasted! I will recommend this place to everyone! (And also recommend the Emmigration Centre at nearby Hofsos to any people of Icelandic descent who are tracing their roots!)

Nothing - we loved it! Perhaps a more varied dinner menu would have brought us back for our second evening dinner, but there were other options down the main street in town, so we opted for something a little different.

Nicely decorated old house (we were staying in the main building) with well-functioning everything (friendly and welcoming staff, decent décor, nice toiletries, well-stocked coffee station in the room, WIFI, clean but a little bit too dark rooms with a few nice historic features). We had a snack in the restaurant in the evening, and we did have breakfast - both went well, I would perhaps consider adding local cheese for breakfast (would definitely make hotel standout compared to the competitors).

This is one of the oldest houses in the country, so please be aware that it's not as sound-proof, as one might've wanted (but there are earplugs for light sleepers). The sink in the bathroom was a little bit worn off and shall be lined up for a replacement. You will need to take stairs - it's an old building, there's no elevator (and I didn't dislike it - just a thing to keep in mind when making a reservation).

The best quirky, unique old hotel of our entire 2 week trip! Character, charm, personality throughout. The room was comfortable. Spacious room big enough for four adults. It's an old hotel that is very well maintained. The restaurant downstairs is just as charming as the rest of the hotel and breakfast was terrific! I'm sure they serve a great dinner fare but we did not partake. There is also a nice hot tub that we didn't use. We loved staying here!

Access to electrical outlets was limited in our room. Stairs up to the front door, stairs down to the restaurant. There are rooms on the first floor, the stairs to the second floor are steep. Not a complaint by any means, just something to be aware of. The hotel is 140 years old, they're entitled to some leeway.🙂

Love the classical European style of the hotel. The decorations make it really vibey. The wifi is strong, and the room offers the most comprehensive package we've seen in all Iceland hotels we've seen. There's body lotion, tea bags, tissue paper, a big trashcan, a big table (though broken), and a big TV. The reception and the dining area are very cozy, and there's also a hot bath outside.

The room is very atmospheric but pretty dim, and the table cannot stand properly (one of the feet is too short). The breakfast is very simplistic. Some of the wall lamps are not functional.

Loved this slightly eclectic, comfortable, cute hotel. Well-located. Immensely grateful to the lovely receptionist who kindly let us dry our clothes in the big drier as we had got absolutely drenched during a boat trip. A geothermal hot tub, gorgeous dining room, very comfortable bedrooms - what's not to like! Highly recommended.

Beautiful hotel. While it is old, rooms were comfortable, and you could feel that you were in a historical site. Personnel very friendly. Very good location. After a terrible at Siglunes hotel, ending our trip in this lovely hotel was simply great. We highly recommend it.

It would benefit from having more parking spaces.

Small, cozy hotel with a really beautifully designed restaurant and really good breakfast (the home-baked bread was delicious!). There is also a hot tub in the back garden. Peaceful location by the sea. We really enjoyed our stay.

Nice hotel partly in a very cool old building. The room was comfortable and clean although on the smaller size. The room had some tea and coffee available. There is a decent hot pool you can use.

The restaurant is a bit pricey and there aren't too many options in the area, however it was very convenient for us on our route.

A warm welcome, and room clean and comfortable, if a little on the small side. A nice evening meal in the restaurantdownstairs, which was full of character, and a decent breakfast, too

Access to the annex, where we were staying, could have been better. A smooth path, perhaps covered, would have been appreciated.
