The staff (and I will call them PEOPLE because they are far more than just staff) at this hotel are extremely kind and very often proactively help you. For example, my wife couldn’t finish her breakfast one morning and they immediately noticed this. The lead waiter immediately asked us about the reasons, whether we were not satisfied with anything. The reason she couldn’t finish it was a change in her appetite due to a very mild form of Bali belly. The waiter immediately went along to offer to make a special ginger and herbs tea for my wife and she gave us the best ginger tea we had ever had. Attention to detail and attention to the needs of guests is at the highest levels at this hotel. Great location, great villas, absolutely recommended

Location is second to none. Very central. Lots of restaurants and night hangouts. Nice shopping too. Walking distance to monkey forest. Room is amazing (justifies the price). Excellent staff. They gave us complimentary 15 minutes massage. Over all very pleasant. Not far from most of the attractions

The private pool isn’t heated which negatively affected our experience big time. The food in the hotel is the big the best (not bad as well, may be it’s our taste). Be careful as they use alcohol in the eggs (we told them one day in advance and they prepared halal sauce for us specially which was great). The private pool doesn’t benefit from the sunny weather.

We thoroughly enjoyed our generously proportioned one-bedroom villa with private pool and jacuzzi bath. We stayed in villa 8 which happened to form part of the monkey highway resulting in daily visits. Constantly entertaining, and fearless but not fearsome, they positively enhanced our experience. The restaurant staff accommodated our dietary needs without hesitation or question, when ordering room service or in person at the restaurant, and all the staff from housekeeping to spa were friendly, welcoming, and humblingly enjoyable to be around. They greeted us politely and respectfully, and could not have offered more to ensure we enjoyed our stay. The gym facilities are clean and adequately equipped for maintenance workouts - who does more than that on holiday, anyway?! The large main pool was a great addition, serviced each day and with foliage regularly removed and the boardwalks swept. Attention to detail matters here. Although situated just off one of the main roads in Ubud, barely any sound transmits into the resort. The couples massage was just perfect! We would happily return.

Our experience at Royal Kamuela was absolutely wonderful. The rooms are stunning, impeccably clean, and serviced twice daily—every morning and evening. The room service is exceptional, reflecting the hotel’s commitment to guest comfort. The food at the hotel restaurant was a highlight of our stay. The breakfasts are varied and include options such as granola, traditional dishes, pancakes, and crepes, all of which are incredibly delicious, my favourite was the Nasi Goreng . We loved the restaurant so much that we didn’t feel the need to explore other dining options outside the hotel. Another standout feature is the on-site spa, which offers massages and various treatments. It’s a haven of relaxation, and the service provided is excellent. We were fortunate to attend the hotel’s special Christmas dinner, and every dish served was truly five-star—an unforgettable culinary experience. The staff were exceptionally friendly and accommodating throughout our stay, which made the experience even more enjoyable. Without a doubt, we would love to return to Royal Kamuela. Our stay was nothing short of amazing, and we highly recommend this hotel to anyone seeking a luxurious and relaxing getaway.

First of all the bed was super, super, comfortable. The room was great, very clean, nice size and set up with a balcony. The bathroom was huge, beautiful and luxurious. The property was clean, breakfast was included and was a la carte but with many choices. The staff at the restaurant were very polite and friendly.

The reception at the front who checked us in did not understand much English.

The service was first class and the staff couldn't be more helpful. The room was extremely clean. Breakfast was excellent. The monkeys were fun! The location is brilliant - right in the heart of Ubud, but very secluded.

There was so much foliage that our villa was in the shade pretty much constantly (not that there was much sun anyway). Choose a villa with less shade. You are told not to feed monkeys as that will encourage them to come and steal more food. But the kitchen is outside - why? Guess what happened when we used the kitchen facilities - a monkey came and stole our food! The taxis offered to us by the hotel were about twice as expensive as those we arranged ourselves via the Gojek (think Uber) app. This feels like a bit of a rip off. Hotel guests should get a better deal, not a worse one. Sort your own transport.

The room was amazing with an incredible bathroom Great location and very friendly staff. The whole vibe of the hotel is great

The breakfast while good we were limited in what we could have, for a 5 star hotel it was unexpected. We felt a bit controlled by the staff, when leaving we had to wait to make sure the room was ok and had a very passive agressive comentary about ONE towel we had dirtied as our mouth wash leaked and stained it. This was before they even attempted to wash it so it’s not like it was permanent. Just made us feel uncomfortable

A very beautiful property. We stayed here for 4 nights. We had wanted to explore the temples and monkey forest and the hotel location was perfect. Our room was overlooking the pool. It was so spacious and very comfortable. The restaurant and staff were always welcoming. The food was very good. I always looked forward to having breakfast and dinner. We had a couples massage and facial at the spa which was so relaxing just what we needed.

The only thing I would say I didn’t like was that there was no elevator to the upper rooms and there were stairs from the lobby to the rooms. If a person had mobility issues it may not be suitable.

Centrally located in Ubud centre. Many restaurants and shops on either side. The property is within walking distance to the monkey forest and there are lots of monkeys around but they don’t disturb anyone. The hotel has a tranquil feel. The staff are attentive and helpful. The massage and facial were lovely. The breakfast was nice and a good amount.

There was a regular small of sewage in the room and crossing the bridge after the spa leading to reception. I think this may not be necessarily a hotel issue but one of wider sewage management issues.

- the bed and the pillows were super comfortable - the villa we stayed at and the hotel in general was very clean - staff were friendly, welcoming and very professional - the hotel and its staff were very organised and proactive - food was made quickly and we didn’t have to wait for long - the massages were great and the staff very professional.

-The location and its surroundings - not much to do -The food portions were small -the villas could do with a bit more privacy in the toilets and bathroom with some frosted glass covering the whole toilet and shower. -The transfer we got from the hotel to the airport on the way back was a taxi and the car smelt of cigarette -I put no for ‘would you stay here again’ purely because I did not like the location and the surroundings. They was no much to do and it was far from the airport. However, the hotel and its staff were amazing!!!!
