First off let me start by saying Samkhya Villas is truly a hidden gem. Summary: + the hospitality is on a whole other level compared to the hotels we've visited around the world + breakfast and any food orders are being delivered directly to your room with stunning views + if you can't make it for breakfast due to an early day trip, they will prepare a lunch box for you + their food and Spa is on a high competitive level + their smiles and willingness to help you from the receptionist to the driver is exceptional + they are so responsive on WhatsApp + since their location is not accessible via car, they offer their own electric small vehicle to transport you to the main road

- the wifi is quite poor, we were in room 9. Not sure how the other rooms were - hot water was not always sufficient. It kind of stopped after a while - on the roof of the bathroom, we could hear stuffs falling off the tree, which would wake us up a few times during the night (i guess that comes with being in the jungle?) All in all i cannot stress and enough that everyone was EXTREMELY friendly. Reception, driver, cooks, waiters, spa staff, gardeners. Everyone. I hope they can review our constructive critic and make their hotel better than it already is. Thanks for having us :)

The spa service was very relaxing and the villa itself was wonderful. The breakfast was also quite tasty. The room was very clean and the staff was exceptionally cordial. The restaurant was also above our expectations.

The bathroom floor tended to get wet and wouldn't dry for a long time. We also couldn't fill in the tub for a hot bath completely. There were some insects too, but that's to be expected given that the villa is immersed in nature. Like other reviews, we also could hear the work in progress as they are building some more villas, but to be honest it wasn't too bothersome to us.

This was our second visit. Delicious breakfast, gorgeous view and very kind staff. QUIET because it is outside the centre among the rice fields.

We love the villa that we were in. The room is so spacious and they even prepared a bath for our baby moon. They have mosquito coils burnt every day which was a plus. The bed was comfy too. It’s not far from central Ubud, they also provide shuttle service to Ubud. The staff is very friendly, the WhatsApp service to speak to front desk is superb and so convenient. It’s so easy to order food and book massages and spa. I had one of the best Balinese massages at the spa. Because I am pregnant they even cater to my needs and was really nice and applied the right pressure. They have different breakfast options daily and also gave us a take away box as we had to leave early for a tour one day.

The last day of our stay, I think there was a communication breakdown. Normally breakfast order comes within 15mins. We were not told our breakfast order was gonna be late and we waited for an hour and wished they had told us about the delay as we had taxi booked for our checkout. We ended up eating at the restaurant which was fine but it was a such a rush.

We stayed here for 4 nights on our honeymoon. Service was fantastic, staff are so welcoming and helpful! The villas were peaceful as on a quiet side road just outside Ubud traffic and had beautiful views of jungle and paddy fields and very private. You do have to take a golf buggy for the last bit as the road is too narrow for a car but it’s easy to request a buggy via their WhatsApp and we never had to wait long. The waiting point is also comfy with seats and fan. Alternatively some days we booked GrabBikes and these can come right up to the villa entrance. Good breakfast selection alternates between Balinese and Western and they provide floating breakfast for free on request. There’s a restaurant, bar and massage on site if you don’t feel like going out as well.

Only suggestion for improvement is the shampoo and conditioner as we found them really rough on the hair, had to run out and buy our own after a couple days!

The location of the hotel is in the middle of the rice fields but still really close to the centre if you have a scooter. The room was very comfortable and clean with a beautiful view to the forest. The hotel staff was always there to help us with tours, renting a scooter etc. and a smile on their face. The breakfast was served in our rooms with plenty of options each day.

The private pool could be cleaner. The colour was greener than the expected. The bathroom is outside so you might be aware of small bugs, but that didn’t not bother us. Other than that everything was perfect.

For our family it was one of the best places we have stayed and we would return again. Room was big. Staff was very nice, smiling and helpful at all times. Breakfast was very tasty and nicely presented. A very big thank you to Hendra and Wayan from the Reception, they deserve a raise in their salary! Chef Gede was amazing and he took care for our baby food too!

The room floor was making a lot of noise and needs to be fixed in Villa 5. For families with kids and strollers to go in and out the hotel you need to get a buggy from the main street. That is available 24/7 but not very practical for families with 2 kids or more

Our driver had difficulty finding the drop zone, but found it after talking directly to reception. The drop zone is a sign, blink and you'd miss it! There is no driveway or parking space but hey the Balinese just wing it and it works. Reception sends a large golf buggy to collect you and your luggage in one pickup and travel about 500m down an alley behind properties and backing onto rice fields. It's quite an adventure the first time and absolute transformation, from the traffic noise into the serenity of rice paddies. The location of the villa, you only hear the breeze through these rice fields. It's quite amazing! Everything about this villa felt private and spacious. The decor was a bit dated and the interior felt very moody, but we loved the dark wooden floors, the exposed rafters and the timber-framed floor-to-ceiling windows and doors that gave an almost 180 degree corner view overlooking the garden, pool and beyond. The bed was very comfortable, it was Bali soft. Slept very well in that bed! The dressing room is very spacious with adequate storage and dedicated luggage rack next to a vanity which had a long bench space and large mirrors. The outside bathroom felt like a bit of a trek to get to during the night. We had an issue with lack of hot water in the shower but it was rectified once we notified reception. The staff are friendly and attentive. The breakfast was impressive. You order your breakfast the day before and we chose to have it served in our villa, on the deck. I loved that each day had different breakfast options catering for Westerners and Asian guests. We also enjoyed dinner room service a few nights when we got rained in and didn't want to trek the main street for food. The price was very reasonable including service charges. I'd highly recommend to keep walking that alley beyond the villas, it takes you through the rice fields and a few warungs too and you come close to the main drag of Ubud.

The bathroom. Normally I appreciate a Balinese bathroom that is not fully enclosed because it keeps it well-ventilated, less mould etc... However, this one felt too outdoorsy with the loose river pebbles and stepping stones as flooring (which can get slippery) and the stagnating small palm in the corner.

Everything was exceptional! Especially the staff who were always so kind and jolly. It’s private enough and they have cctv cameras facing the road and rice fields for protection :)

We were staying across the rice fields and at one point someone climbed the coconut tree in front of our villa. (To take out the falling palm and to get coconut I guess) A little warning from the establishment would be great to let their guests know of this possibility to avoid any privacy concerns. But it’s all so private so don’t worry.

Spacious room with a lovely pool, comfy daybed and sunloungers in a little garden. The spa was also very nice, and all the staff were very friendly.

The food at breakfast was a bit underwhelming e.g. what was described as apple bircher muesli was not bircher muesli but just a regular bowl of cereal with milk, the bread was the plastic sliced white variety, and the coffee was quite weak filter press coffee rather than espresso. There also wasn't much choice for vegetarians at the restaurant.
