The staff in the horizon club were very kind and caring. Because I was a vegetarian they went out of their way to give me lots of choices. Particularly Pat, Ni, Piano, Min and Sarah. The taxi driver Oak was also very helpful and gave me insight into different birds and Thai culture. The young man at the pool who usually wears a leather hat was also very helpful.

We were glad that the burning in the fields was stopped this year as that would have been a negative. There was nothing about the hotel that we didn’t like. We will be back.

The hotel was great and in a good position to explore Chiang Mai. Our first time at Chiang Mai & it was amazing, absolutely loads of temples & things to see. We only visited a fraction of the places to visit in our 4 days and would definitely return. We had a smart Horizon double room with club lounge access. The room itself was lovely, clean & comfortable with views of the city & mountains. The staff in the club lounge were exceptional, especially Pat who provided loads of information & suggestions about places to visit and Nancy who worked tirelessly to serve the guests, ensuring they had what they wanted & made delicious cocktails. The lounge staff were all great actually, polite, informative & helpful but Pat & Nancy stood out to us on this visit. Breakfast was a delight with loads of choices & the pool area was comfortable too.

There wasn't anything I didn't like about this hotel.

Breakfast was fantastic. Room was amazing. Bed was comfy, lighting was great. Super nice to have a little cozy balcony off the room. Very hot shower and nice bathtub for a good relax. The pool is great too and love the extra touch of jug of ice water and glasses when you get to the pool.

Arrived just as the 7.7. earthquake hit. Very scary. However the building withstood violent shaking and the service of water and juice and umbrellas for the heat was great. Wish there would have been a little more compensation for the emotional stress that occurred.... prehaps a nice massage gratuit? :) Sunday brunch was amazing.. however note that you have to pay for all drinks. I definitely think water should be free when you are paying such a high price.

Very attentive staff. Nice clean hotel

We could not get a room at the end of the hall so we were upgraded (?) to the Club floor…so no kids. The air conditioning did not work very well so they moved us next day to another floor. Lots of kid noise around us. The pool was too cold for us to use…the only people in the pool were kids under 10! No control of screaming children like there was at the Shangri La in Bangkok a few days before (seems parents won’t do it so the lifeguards had to!)

I recently had the pleasure of staying at the Shangri-La Hotel in Chiang Mai, and I must say, it was an exceptional experience from start to finish. The staff were incredibly helpful and knowledgeable, always ready with a warm smile and excellent recommendations. The food was amazing, every meal was a delight. I was especially impressed with the concierge team, who provided great advice on local tours and helped make the most of my time in Chiang Mai. My room was spotless, spacious, and very comfortable. I couldn’t have asked for more—highly recommended!

The services for the Horizon club patrons are very commendable. Staffs are extremely careful in remembering your needs and they even remember your favorite drinks at the different hours of the day. Well done to the Horizon Club staffs....

Nothing much to fault about the property or the staffs.... however i think if there's a pillow menu on the bedside table, that would make the sleep so much more comfortable

From our room, we enjoyed serene views over the beautifully landscaped property, with an atmosphere of calm that made our stay feel like a true escape, even within the vibrant city center. Shangri-La Chiang Mai redefines luxury. The exceptional hospitality, led by our butler Tiristan, exceeded all expectations. Tiristan’s attentive and genuine service made us feel like top priority at every moment. His dedication and warmth turned our stay into something truly extraordinary.

Staff were so lovely, breakfast was pretty good (but definitely not the best we’ve had in a luxury chain), beds were big and comfy and LOVED how effective the blackput curtains were, the whole family slept great. Lots of storage space was a plus too. They changed our room swiftly when we weren’t happy with the first room.

Our first room smelled damp, the rooms definitely need some maintenance, the walls were a bit grubby and the lamp shade in the first room looked really dirty.

There was nothing to dislike about this hotel. The staff were lovely, including house keeping, it’s in a great position to explore Chiang Mai. The pool was beautiful, all the food we ate at either at the pool side or restaurant was delicious. In my view this hotel deserves 5 star or more. We did various trips but the one we did through the hotel to the elephant sanctuary was an amazing experience. My Dad lives in Thailand and I’m trying to persuade him to move to Chiang Mai.

Very good security. Excellent staff very friendly and helpful. Good range of restaurants in the hotel. We upgraded to the club package on the 11th floor which included free happy hour drinks and snacks. Good location for local markets and booking trips out to see the historic sites and temples. Great food for room service and the bar food pizza. Very safe for families. Use the grab app for taxi as on the roadside can be more expensive. Pre-book all tours and sight seeing from the hotel or the local agent down the road near the markets.

On of the three restaurants was under refurbishment near the pool so no pool drinks at the time. Need to pre-book chef tables within a day or two of arriving.
