Hotel La Pergola on Ischia has many positives. The staff were incredibly kind and accommodating, and the view from the hotel overlooking Lacco Ameno and its bay was absolutely stunning. On clear days, you could even see Naples right from the balcony. The thermal pools within the hotel were a delightful feature—well-maintained and a great way to relax. Having a pool just steps away from the room was a treat, especially if you enjoy a swim or a soak in the thermal water before breakfast. Breakfast was satisfactory, with a good variety, although the selection of vegetables was limited. This was more than compensated by the salad bar at dinner, which offered an abundance of options and daily choices of excellent dishes. Lunch needs to be arranged at the reception at least two hours in advance, and the daily menu remains the same. This is available at an additional cost for half-board guests, similar to any bar services provided by the hotel.

On the downside, the hotel's location on a hill makes it challenging to access on foot, particularly due to the lack of sidewalks—a common issue across the island. However, the hotel provides a convenient shuttle service, and a paid local bus route also covers the area fairly well. Unfortunately, the cascade-like layout of the rooms involves numerous stairs, and the hotel lacks an elevator, which makes it unsuitable for those with reduced mobility or wheelchair users.

The shower was very uncomfortable, it was very small and without any curtains or shower doors therefore it was a mess of water after every shower. Our room had a terrace that was right next to the breakfast tables so it was a bit uncomfortable to hang out in the balcony in the morning. The location was very difficult also since it's on the way up to the mountain. Very disappointing beaches, the majority you need to pay because they belong to a hotel or restaurant and they are very, very small.

I stayed here 5 nights. The Staff and Owners are charming and very accommodative. Included breakfast is great: Many healthy options, eat outside with sea view. Pools are clean and varied. Property is terraces so there are stairs. Easy local transportation to reach Hotel Bus 3 and 4 from nearby Ferry Terminal.

Beautiful views, so peaceful and staff are so nice, welcoming and helpful.

The lunch and dinner menus are a bit restricted especially if you don’t like seafood or have any allergies. However it is not a big issue. The bathroom could be slightly more modern and maybe a small fridge would help.

as always amazing atmosphere there, the staff does excellent job, everything just excellent, I have been visitiing this fabulous place many times and many times my admiration is just only rising!
