If you’re looking for a place to relax for a weekend in peace and quiet, this is it. The rooms are cozy and clean, with all the amenities you need. The breakfast buffet offers everything you’d expect and more. At dinner time, the hotel has two excellent options; however, Meja is a must. If you come to this part of the world to rest and relax, you have to reward yourself with (at least one) visit to this (albeit tiny) restaurant. You won’t regret it. In fact, you might regret not spending your evening at Meja.

The staff’s professionalism is on a high level and worth praise. The personnel seem keen on realising every wish of guests. The breakfast was one of the highlights of our stay. Meticulously labelling dishes is a commendable initiative in and of itself. The dishes were handpicked, local and beautifully decorated, as were the delightful desserts, especially the orange cake. A friendly team ensures guests are satisfied, dishes are decorated, and that select fruit never runs out. We must also praise the selection of local meat delicacies and cheeses. Even the coffee was splendid, as apt for a region home to Italy's coffee capital - Trieste. Hotel Franz is an excellent choice if you desire an excellent breakfast during your next hotel stay.

Hotel Franz is a mature hotel that is ageing like fine wine and adapting to changing guests' needs. Its last revamp in 2012 was a welcome evolution. However, with the fast-changing hotel fashion, the style a decade ago may not be as fresh today. That is not to say the hotel is missing anything in terms of functionality. Its design is thought-out, and everything is where you expect it. The spaciousness of rooms can be a competitive advantage or a drawback in some cases. The latter usually occurs when a space feels empty, even though it boasts enough elements. Although commonplace in Italy, the extra payments for wellness, breakfast and other activities are part of yield management. That often results in discontent among guests.

Pool and surroundings were great. Pool drink service was nice. Room was small but nicely appointed. Close to Trieste airport which was important because we had a very early flight. Staff was there at 5 am to check us out and make us an espresso before we headed out.

Not much around the hotel to do. Restaurant seemed pretty underutilized. Nothing really bad though.

I had a wonderful stay at this hotel. The services were excellent, and everything was spotlessly clean. The staff was incredibly friendly and attentive, always ready to help with a smile. The breakfast was fresh and delicious, with high-quality ingredients that made it a great start to the day. I highly recommend this hotel and would gladly return in the future.

A cozy hotel close to the old town center, and home of Meja, a top fine dining restaurant. Easily accessible from the highway, with its own parking area. Located in a beautiful town, at the famous emerald Isonzo (Soča) river, dating back to Roman times (and beyond).

The room and toilet are beautiful and modern. The staff is very polite and helpful, and they provide all the necessary information about the hotel and the place. A nice garden with a swimming pool, and despite the fact that it is in the center of the town, it is a very relaxing area

Great deal, easy parking, comfortable room. I particularly liked the chromotherapy shower in my room. I'd also like to thank the receptionist and the cleaning lady that on the morning of the 26th December contacted me to let me know that I forgot something in my room after I checked out. This is just to show the high level of service of this hotel.

Wonderful hotel :) Everything that you expect from a hotel, kind staff, clean, beautiful, great restaurant, didn't get to swim but beautiful yard and pool.

Our brief stay at Hotel Franz was absolutely lovely. The staff was super attentive and helpful. They truly went above and beyond to ensure a great experience. The room was spacious, modern and fitted our needs spectacularly. The breakfast (€8) was a great deal and very delicious. The pool and outdoor areas were well maintained. The lunch we had brought to our room was tasty and we paid a fair price. Overall we had a great stay at Hotel Franz and would definitely stay again!

Room service lunch was not cleared away after we returned from our evening out.

The rooms were a 10/10: quiet, big, clean and modern. Just entering the room was a good feeling because of how clean it smelled. The staff were so nice to upgrade our room to a bigger room with view and also made sure that we had everything for our big journey home.
