Our stay at Palazzo Rustico in L’Aquila was absolutely unforgettable! From the moment we arrived, Paolo and his wonderful dog Argo made us feel so welcomed. Paolo went above and beyond, giving us a personal tour of the entire town — including its incredible historical sites — and sharing stories and insights you’d never get from a guidebook. The accommodations at Palazzo Rustico were charming, comfortable, and full of character — a perfect blend of rustic beauty and modern convenience. Every detail was thoughtfully prepared, and the atmosphere made us feel right at home. If you’re an American traveling through Italy, do yourself a favor and make a stop in L’Aquila. Staying at Palazzo Rustico and meeting Paolo and Argo will be one of the highlights of your trip. Highly, highly recommend!

The property here is incredibly beautiful and the owner is extremely helpful and friendly. The rooms feel like you're staying in an antique palace, (which you are), and the furniture is a nice mix of comfortable bed and updated bathroom with historic furniture as well. The parking was very easy right in front of the place, and it is extremely easy to access L'Aquila downtown from the place. Breakfast was outstanding, a mix of local cheeses, meats, unique pastries, and of course Pan Ducale. We stayed here on the busiest weekend (Ferragosto) and were there to climb Gran Sasso, which is easy to access from L'Aquila. Once again, this was the best host we have had in a very long time and I highly recommend this property!

We enjoyed the whole experience! Paulo was an excellent host. He was friendly and very helpful. The location was very good. A short walk to the Duomo Piazza and so many of the sights. The courtyard was quiet and there were chairs for us to sit and relax outside.

I don't think there was anything about the stay that could have been better!

We loved the charm, cleanliness and helpfulness. The owner was very helpful and the breakfast was delightful. We traveled with our adult children and this was their first trip to Italy. I wanted to them to experience the charm and vintage feel of Italy. And this Palazzo Rustici did exactly that.

As with almost all places in Italy, parking is difficult. However, the owner was very helpful in assisting us in parking. And, once you get the feel of the area, we managed. So this really wasn't a problem.

Location is perfect- very close to Piazza Duomo, actually in the street lined with palazzos and other historic buildings. The hotel itself is the historic house, very well maintained. The owner, signor Paolo, is a nice person, responsive and helpful, he provide us with some valuable advices Concerning the l’Aquila city- which is beautiful- places to see, to eat and bye things. Insomnia, very recommended.

Well situated within walking distance to major attractions. Received a warm welcome and was provided with a details guide of the local and regional attractions. I highly recommend this B&B.

Nothing in particular. Public parking may be a challenge some days but received help from the property manager to find a spot.

Beautiful apartment - very grand with lovely antiques - in a great location. Paolo was very friendly and helpful. Breakfast was plentiful and delicious, and the shower was terrific.

Car parking was difficult but not unexpected in a city where a lot of reconstruction is still occurring.

This place was a hidden gem. Our host Paolo was amazing - we had trouble at the beginning getting from the airport and parking but he always answered when we messaged. The lodging was incredibly beautiful - hand-painted frescos and antiques mixed with modern touches like Kartell lamps. The bathroom was a dream and our breakfast was outstanding. We will definitely visit again and would recommend it to anyone who would like to stay in Aquila.

Had great charm.

The mattress was old foam and had no support. The breakfast was ok. No eggs . Paolo did fix us espresso. He was very hospitable. The roads and parking were very tight and minimal. Have a tiny car.

The Palazzo was lovely and the owner and his family couldn’t have been more helpful.

L’Aquila is still suffering from the 2009 earthquake and is still in the process of being rebuilt. So from an absolutely selfish point of view our terrace was spoilt by having scaffolding right in front of it.
