The location of the hotel, on one of Lecce's most historic squares, cannot be bettered. BUT it comes with a downside - private cars are not allowed on the street. So if, as we did, you arrive with your own car, it gets complicated. The wonderful reception staff worked with us to make it feasible - came to meet us elsewhere in the city, helped us carry luggage to the hotel, then went with us to a car park some distance away etc - but it's not straightforward! The view over the amphitheatre makes up for it though.

As described above, the location is challenging. The rooms / apartments are also interspersed with offices in a multi-use building, with several mezzanine stairs etc to manage. Not feasible for anyone with disability.

The manager, Franzi was excellent. He was knowledgeable, very helpful and a very nice person too. The townhouse was perfectly located in the old town and we could walk everywhere. The car had to be parked elsewhere by Franzi but he got our car for us whenever we needed it; the system worked well. Very clean and comfortable. We have no hesitation in recommending Casa Dei Mercanti.

The location is amazing! Franzi met us and we were escorted to check-in while he drove our car to the parking lot. Excellent service! The suites are huge (I travelled with my sister and she had her own suite). Breakfast was delicious and served promptly at our requested time. Again, excellent service! Franzi was ready with our car at departure. Again, excellent service! Thank you to Franzi and his team.

I developed back pain during my travels in Italy. I found the low platform style bed difficult to get in and out of plus the mattress a bit hard.

Just lovely, couldn't be more centrally located. I checked out of the hotel I was staying at with friends that had to return home earlier than I did, and I wished I had stayed here for my entire time in Lecce. The staff and manager were so nice, even allowed me to check in early. Breakfast served in the room was a nice touch, room was really spacious and beautifully decorated, not a detail spared for design or comfort. They even recommended Museo Faggiano to me, and it was fascinating

The property is ideally situated in the heart of the old area of Lecce so ideally placed to explore all the historical sites of beautiful Lecce on foot. Also it is there are many restaurants and bars very close by. The hosts were extremely helpful particular in relation to parking as no immediate parking near to property. The apartment was large and comfortable.

There was nothing to dislike.

It was perfection! The gigantic beautiful apartment that looked down on Pizza Sant’Oronzo in the center of the old town. Franzi is a gem. He met us to guide us to unload our car and then parked it for us. He Spent more than expected time with us orientating us to his beloved city. A wonderful breakfast was brought to the room each morning. I cannot imagine a better place to stay in Lecce!

The score for this apartment is 10, but I think it is not enough! The car-parking service, the breakfast served in your apartment (like a 5 stars room-service), the huge apartment, nice decorated and with an amazing view, confortable beds, AC in the whole space, wi-fi, smart TVs, kitchen, cofee, snacks... everything you can want. This in the best place I ever stayed, with best service ever. Congratulations, Franzie & team! You took the hospitality to a next level!

Franzi is exceptional friendly and helpful. He is well organized and gives detailed directions. The location of the appartement is directly at Piazza Sant' Oronzo, in the middle of the wonderful old town of Lecce. the appartement is big and in a good condition. On request, Franzi told us about possible Restaurants and places to see. All good choices. The breakfast was delicious. We could order, what we liked.

The location was absolutely amazing. It’s right in the centre of Old Town but the apartment itself was quiet. The apartment was spacious and comfortable. We particularly enjoyed the generous breakfast, delivered to your room. Franzie was very helpful and kindly arranged for us to check in early. Lecce is a wonderful city and we highly recommend the apartment.

The breakfast and the proximity to the center of Lecce. A big thank you for the kindness of the person who arranged the parking for the car. The communication with the establishment was very clear and came exactly when we needed it.

The check-in was very rushed and hurried. It felt like they wanted to get rid of us as quickly as possible.
