The reception area and sitting rooms were lovely and comfortable. The bedroom was lovely, bright and airy. The bed was comfortable. The staff were friendly and accommodating. They had a small private carpark (at an additional cost) but i felt the car was safe. There was a lovely small swimming pool area with pool side chairs. Breakfast had a very good selection of cold meats, salads yoghurt and lots of cakes. It is closer to the old town which is lovely as you are near to the cathedral and lots of historical buildings.

The main carpet to bedrooms is very stained could do with replacing. The pool area needs to be swept on a daily basis. The small patch of ground beside the pool needs flowers just to make it nicer to look at while sitting at pool. There are no "Do Not Disturb" signs and staff knocked and opened bedroom door every morning before 9.00am it was very annoying especially when we were staying for 5 days and breakfast was served til 10.00am. The main restaurants and tourist areas are about a 15 min walk away which is far enough if you are not great on your feet a lot of uneven surfaces you would probably need to get a taxi up and down.

Everything is excellent. The reception desk team is very pleasant and helpful, as well as breakfast team and cleaning ladies. Breakfast is excellent, with a variety of food: grilled, fresh, and marinated veggies, scrambled eggs, quish, cold cuts , cheese, fresh fruits:apples,watermelon,,oranges,pineapples, varies drinks: water flat and bubbly, coffee and served to the table tasty csppuci ! Service is great and very pleasant. Thank you, teams !! Mind though that the property is older and hallways carpet has to be changed. Rooms are pleasant, panelledfloor, interior is stylish and bed mattrace is firm ! Space in closet is good,safe works well, windows are tall, new and fresh air can be let in ! Good space size. We recommend Grand Hotel to everyone ! Perfectly located, steps to the railway station, Castromediano Museum is very close and a must to visit!!, Old Town just 4 min ,and not far to bus terminal (8 min by taxi= 13 euro) to Matera via Taranto,Rome, Napoli...

Unfortunately, we have experienced a leak of the toilet in room 212 , during our last night stay. Staff immediately offered extra towels to dry the floor.Hope it is already well maintained !

- staff at the reception desk, kind and helpful - elegant hotel with a vintage feel - spacious and clean room - well-equipped bathroom - very good breakfast (also with outside dining by the pool) - good location: right next to the train station (and buses to Otranto, Gallipoli, etc.) and very close to the city center; as with any train station, there are homeless people, but they don't seem dangerous, at least during the day

- the cleaning lady is too early, she comes into the room while you are at breakfast; but she is fast and efficient; there is no "do not clean" sign to hang on the door - the light is a bit dim in the bathroom

Rooms are clean, spacious, neat, comfy linen, beautiful decor. I had a balcony to view beautiful sunset & sunrise. Jacuzzi bathtub. Staff are so friendly & helpful, and made me a very early breakfast to go. Pool and garden courtyard area is a like haven. Walking distance to train station & old city.

Rest of hotel may have been grand once, now tired, faded & lost its lustre… Carpets outside rooms & on landings were very dirty, stained, not vacuumed. Smell in bathroom from drains, which I discovered in other hotels in Lecce as well. No basin drain covers so take care nothing falls in. Don’t choose a street room if you prefer quiet.

Location perfect including breakfast. Staff very helpful besides with a smile.

The customer service is excellent from reception staff to kitchen staff. They are more than happy to assist you with anything. Pool is fantastic. The breakfast bar has everything you wish for , from cereal, to fresh fruits, freshly cooked local specialities, sweet savoury, yoghurt, any type of coffee, we liked cappuccino. Parking is great, direct at the hotel, for a daily fee. The hotel is/was grand , now it is a bit tired and is being refreshed one step of the time. Great location to train station and old historic town. Highly recommend it.

The pool area only has 10 sunbeds that are taken pretty fast. The hotel might want to invest in more as there are more guests missing out . The carpet on the corridors is pretty used and dirty. Some room has dirty carpet too. We were luck to get a room with floor boards. TV has one English speaking channel and the signal is weak.

Great location- we arrived by train and the hotel is a two-minute walk at the most and is also a short walk to Old Town. The hotel itself is an architecture gem. Also, throughout the hotel it is decorated heavily with gorgeous paintings. Lovely, superb staff, great breakfast buffet in a beautiful restaurant, and the girl working there was fantastic- always smiled and paid attention to every detail serving the guests. Our bedroom & bathroom was huge (we had room #201).

The hotel overall needs a bit of updating regarding some details. The carpet in our room was stained (not just one or two but overall) it looked bad although everything was clean. The paint everywhere in the hotel, in our room and staircase also needs to be refreshed. The balcony door in our room had some rotten parts on the bottom (inside).

The room was very large, and I liked the style of the furnishings and muted colours. Space provided for a suitcase, other than the floor. The bathroom was huge with plenty of space around the basin for toiletry bags - a nice change! Shower was good but over the bathtub, but there were adequate hand-holds. The breakfast was very good. All staff were friendly. The pool was open (early Nov) but a bit too cool and then we had rain. The pool seating area looked well maintained. I was given a good map on checkin. Very close to the railway station and to centro storico.

Other reviews are correct - the carpet (in the hallways in particular) lets them down. The carpet in my room was okay. I noticed some rooms had timber floors. I received a scam email which purported to come from the hotel's wi-fi provider - so it seems they had a security breach, although I did not get that confirmed by the hotel. I did not use the wi-fi after that.

The hotel has a real charm and atmosphere with a lovely 1920's feel. Our room was a great size and very comfortable. Shower was good. The pool is excellent and very welcome after a morning in the sun exploring Lecce. Access to the old town is an easy walk and the proximity to the railway station was useful for us. Breakfast was very good and also has further options should you wish to supplement the buffet.

It is a shame they do not open up the bar or restaurant at lunchtime or evenings as the facilities appear to be there, just not used.

first room did have a sewerage odour coming from bathroom (which l was aware of in other reviews) however the staff immediately moved us to another room with no hesitation and complete professionalism which was brilliant.
