Beautiful building meticolously restored. Large room. The hotel is more like B&B. The owner is very welcoming. Breakfast - additional 30 Euro charge per person is amazing and worth the money.

Towels are very small (more like hand towels) and there is no shower - you have to sit down in the tub and shower in the tub. It was noisy at night. There is a bar outside the building and people were yelling/laughing till early dawn. Maybe worse because it was a weekend. Kleenexes in the bathroom would be nice.

Roberto is an excellent host and at every opportunity he exceeded our expectations. For example I mentioned that I would like fruit and yogurt for breakfast, so he provided a selection of fruits and yogurt. When I mentioned that I would like plain rather than flavoured yogurt he provided 2 different options of plain!! The house is stunning and the garden beautiful. It’s quiet and peaceful.

There was nothing to dislike!

Roberto and his wife were fabulous hosts. As a woman travelling alone they made me feel safe and welcome! It felt as though I were staying with family! The property is lovely and peaceful. The space was extremely clean, bright and welcoming. I had some clothes that needed ironing and they welcomed me into their home (on the property) and ironed my clothes while I was entertained by their adorable, sweet dog! I had to leave early in the am and Roberto greeted me in the garden with cappuccino and cookies and made sure I got off ok. I was very grateful for their warmth and hospitality and hope that I'm in the area again so I can stay at Villa Matildis!

I didn't have time to enjoy one of Roberto's meals! Hopefully I'll have more time on my next trip!

Everything was absolutely perfect. From our greeting from Roberto until we left. Very gracious host and the accommodations were perfect! Only complaint is we didn't book a long enough stay. Roberto's wife although she didn't speak much English was very charming. Thier dog just loved us and could tell he likes visitors. I would highly recommend staying here! Next time staying much longer!!!

Staying longer.

Our host Roberto was in constant contact with us. He had arranged for us to go to a restaurant and made the booking. Unfortunately, the boat we took from Patras to Ancona was 8 hours’ late. He waited up for us until 2 am! Villa Matildis is beautifully restored and decorated, with exquisite items of furniture. The bathroom was superb - as was the breakfast prepared freshly for us by Roberto.

Owner host Roberto was warm and welcoming. Very friendly, nice and did everything possible to make our stay pleasurable. The breakfast we selected was delicious.

There were no negative aspects to our stay.

Centrally located. Property was quiet and beautiful. Owner/host was very friendly and accommodating. Owner Roberto helped with recommendations for restaurants, food stores, sightseeing and more.

Roberto was a fantastic host! He prepared an amazing breakfast each morning during our stay (cooking mostly everything himself!), and the entire Villa was beautiful. It was exceptionally clean and has every amenity you might need while traveling. Roberto offered information about Modena and really made our stay in the area special. Roberto's son even provided us a personal tour of their balsamico cellars under the property. We had an amazing stay and cant wait to go back! Would highly recommend this stay to others.

Roberto is a most excellent host! He is passionate about both his property and the offerings to his guests - the comfort and elegance of his B&B, the food he offers and prepares for breakfast and the balsamic vinegar he makes in his basement. He is all too willing to make your stay with him and his wife most enjoyable. The location was very convenient to go to Modena and its surroundings.

I would have liked to have the bathroom ensuite
