Such a pleasant property -- and even better that it is multi-generational family run! Everyone is so pleasant and helpful that we felt we were constantly being pampered. The room was spacious, the beds were comfortable, the breakfast outside each morning very tasty with custom made items each day. The pool was SO clutch given how hot it was, water very refreshing and also very little chlorine which we certainly appreciate. They serve other meals as needed and are happy to recommend (and make reservations) for many of the hill town restaurants near them. I was always greeted with a smile by everyone, and I do not think I received the least bit of special attention. You can see for yourselves, I am sure you will not be disappointed!

It was very hot when there, and the rooms, while beautiful, are also older...so the AC that runs does not stay in the room as much as a more modern room's AC would....so my only recommendation is to recognize this for these exceptionally hot days and nights and let the AC minimum temp go lower.

A beautiful stay with breathtaking views stretching all the way to San Gimignano. You’re welcomed as if you’re part of the family, especially by Federico and Niccolò, two incredibly kind and helpful young hosts who are always ready to assist with a warm smile. The room was very clean and well maintained, as was the bathroom. Every day, they asked if we wanted fresh towels or if we’d like the room cleaned. Great service. Having breakfast on the private terrace of our room was such a lovely extra touch. The pool was great, with enough parasols to find shade under the strong Tuscan sun. There’s plenty to do within a short drive. You can visit charming towns like San Gimignano, Volterra, and Siena, or enjoy local wine tastings nearby. Exploring the area by Vespa is also a fantastic option. Highly recommended!

Impeccable stay. Not a single complaint.

This portion of our extended trip throughout Italy was delightful. We were greeted by Nicolo, the owners’ son, who was a perfect example of the genuine, kind hospitality of Italy… actually he exceeded the norm and our expectations. The entire family was equally warm and inviting. Our room had the character and charm of a beloved Italian farmhouse in the vine-filled countryside and opened onto a lovely patio with a refreshing, wonderful view, room 10. Everything was well maintained and the large pool sparkled invitingly. We used it everyday and the water was always very clean and set at a comfortable temperature. Nicolo offered exceptionally good restaurant recommendations that made us feel like a resident rather than a vacationer. We will definitely return one day!

It was the perfect Tuscan weekend getaway with amazing views, unique traditional experience within the rooms and a modern twist (the pool). The breakfast was served in front of the apartment within the beautiful garden surrounding the villa with a lot of attention to details. The staff was super welcoming and nice, offered us recommendations for day trips and wine along a beautiful homey dinner on the joint terrace. It's very close to San Gimignano and Volterra, both beautiful towns to visit.

I would not change a thing.

We enjoyed our first Tuskany visit in Il Cardino and were sooo happy there. The room, our own terrace (were breakfast was served every morning), the pool area (where you can enjoy cocktails or antipasti in the evenings) and all the garden surroundings were just so lovely, we enjoyed our stay really very much. All the stuff around Nicolo were just lovely and they took care of all of our wished. Thanks so much for our lovely time with you, Il Cardino, and hope to see you soon again! 🌞

Antico Borgo was an absolute gem of a find. We loved it! At times we were the only family at the pool so it was almost like having our own villa but with the amazing family onboard to cater for all our needs. San Gimingnano is a very special place to us and this property has added even more to that. We will definitely return. We can highly recommend it. It’s family run and that is most definitely the feel it has. Nico deserves a special mention. A lovely young man and a credit to his family !

We enjoyed very much our stay at the Antico Borgo Il Cardino; it was above our expectations. The warm, personal touch with eye for details provided by the Family owners of the B&B and the Staff made us feel really welcome and well taken care of with a personal touch. The setting and location are ideal - the B&B is located between Volterra and Siena and really close to San Gimignano - in green surroundings. We loved that the breakfast was served at the private terrace of our room at the preferred time slot and we could choose daily from a large choice of produce. Excellent! The room for 3 was very clean with comfy beds and airco. We also loved the large and well kept swimming-pool and well-equipped area around - very private with beautiful views on the surrounding hills and San Gimignano. The B&B is easy to get to and provides a good private parking area. During Reception opening times you can enjoy the bar serving fresh cocktails and / or local wines, beers prepared by the friendly Niccolo'. We certainly would like to go back!

It was perfectly situated 15 minutes outside San Gimignano. It was exceptionally clean and the family welcome we received from the owners Monica, her husband and of course son Nico all of who made our stay perfect. The breakfast each morning was excellent and served at our apartment. Our apartment was great value for money and very comfortable . No problems getting extra pillows. Monica (Mamma) was adorable and both my wife and I really took to her. Pool area excellent. We have stayed in Tuscany several times and this is certainly the best. Highly recommend this property.

Nothing to dislike

Nicolo and his family are the most amazing hosts. We’ve truly got to enjoy the Tuscan lifestyle at this amazing accommodation. You get the breakfast served at your own little terrace, just taking in the peace and quiet of the region. The whole property is very well maintained, with activities for kids ( football ground, swing, pool) and just overall stunning views of the rolling hills of Tuscany. Great positioning between San Gimignano and Voltera. Breakfast was very nice, you get to choose from a large list of items, as many as you want, so no need to worry about that. Would recommend 10/10!

Fantastic hospitality from everybody; really cared for you. Breakfast served outside on the patio of your room with the choice you've chosen the day before. Enjoyed the patio where we could have little snacks & wine bought in other places. Nice pool area, with good sunbeds. Be prepared that there is nothing to purchase to eat apart from breakfast that is included in the room rate. There is one restaurant & one bar in the village 10 minutes away. Had one dinner in that restaurant; Tre Archi, and it was great food, and the wine was produced from next door to Il Cardino. Good parking possibilities. Overall a very nice place that we recommend.

You really need a car or some kind of transportation. But that did not come as a surprise; it was well described on the site.
