Great location, great services, very good breakfast, very kind people, very nice room/hotel. They informed us that the hotel is in the old town, therefore they do not have private parking. However, they send us all details related to the parking places near the location (there is free parking near the hotel, but you have to take into account that you have to climb about 100 stairs to the hotel.).

It's hard to find something not to like. The view from our room wasn't great, but let's be honest: it didn't bother us at all. We came to see the city and its surroundings, not to look out the window. The WiFi speed was slow, but it is something common in IT.

The location was prime! Right there in the quaint little town of cobbled streets and many choices of restaurants and cafes to choose from. The Ancient Roman Theater was a 3 minute walk from our hotel. Oksana, who met us when we checked in, was so welcoming. The room was clean and had all the amenities for a comfortable stay, including AC. (Which was very important in the high heat of July) The free breakfast was delicious. I wish I had known that we could’ve ordered the fresh made to order scrambled eggs before we had eaten the boiled eggs. We were very happy with our stay. I Highly recommend Hotel La Locanda.

This hotel is located right in the old town of Volterra near all the tourists' attractions and restaurants. Reception was friendly and helpful and advised us where to park our car etc . Our room was spacious and nicely decorated in white and cream fabrics with a big spa bath. We had a street view room, but it was quiet at night with almost no traffic. Breakfast was good. We liked Volterra town as it must be the highest located town in Tuscany with magnificent views of the Tuscan countryside.

I think the breakfast room could be a little bit more cozy - it is a bit clinical and bland.

My brother and I were doing the Tuscany Trail (446km circuit on bikes). Unfortunately my brother left his rucksack 20km behind in a restaurant. The lady at reception (I didn't catch her name) went above and beyond to sort out it's return to us. The hotel itself is just inside the north gate to the town. Comfortable room and big bathroom. Nice secure garden behind the hotel to leave our bikes. The owner also has a restaurant in the main square where we had an excellent meal.

The hostess was very welcoming and helpfup. The hotel is perfectly situated after the entrance gates to Volterra and just a short walk up to the main square. The breakfast was a beautiful experience. The hostess ensured we had our own private family table. The food was fresh with many options and coffee to our liking. The decor and rooms have beautiful old century touches with modern amenities (nice bathroom and shower). Beds were huge and fit a family of 4 comfortably. Our taxi was arranged seamlessly on a Sunday as we had no options for public transportation.

Nothing. All was exquisite!would stay here again 100% great value for money.

La Locanda is perfectly located in Volterra: right near a main port so you can easily drop off things before parking (for free, in Docciola parking), there is a nice little park area for dog business, and you have immediate access to the central areas of Volterra too. The hotel location was very quiet (unfortunately other guests were not), it is nicely appointed in the room and in very good condition, and the staff are the highlight! Every one of the staff members were caring, friendly, accommodating and a wealth of information. Also, the breakfast was wonderful--plenty of healthy options like yogurt with fresh fruit and granola, and nice meats/cheeses, but my favorite were the homemade tarts/cakes on offer too. The room was nice and large, the bed was very comfortable (even the pillows, which is rare), and a nice large bathroom. Overall a wonderful stay and we wouldn't hesitate to stay at La Locanda again. Lastly, we loved the big, beautiful windows with full-dark shades/shutters too.

The only thing we didn't like was that our room had a large jet tub (could be fun, but I like showers), but that was 100% our fault as that was the only room available on Booking. I only mention to ensure you ask if you are adamant about a shower. The tub had a sprayer, so it worked fine. Also, the doors are pretty thin, and sadly some other rude guests who got back late were rather loud at late hours, so just bring earplugs if you are a light sleeper.

The location is amazing: right in the middle of Volterra's beautiful historic center. Our hostess was very helpful in providing information on how to enter the ZTL area to drop our luggage off and helping us decide where to park the car outside the city center (we ended up parking in the free parking lot nearby). The Hotel and the room were lovely, the breakfast was delicious and with plenty of variety - overall we had an amazing time in Volterra.

La Locanda, Volterra, The hotel was easy to find and close to two pay parking lots. The staff was friendly and helpful! Our room had a comfy bed, large bathroom with a big towel warming rack. We felt very welcome and enjoyed our stay in such comfortable surroundings. The breakfast room was nicely appointed and breakfast options included hard boiled eggs, a good selection of sweet and savory items and coffee made to order. We throughly enjoyed the updated Guarnacci Museum full of Etruscan treasures!

The room was spacious and clean and the bed was very comfortable. The bathroom was well equipped with tons of hot water. The included continental breakfast was quite nice and provided everything you would need. The staff was friendly and outgoing

We had difficulty locating the hotel entrance - our GPS which had worked perfectly for the previous 12 days, failed us big-time in Volterra. It was likely user error, but if you are in a vehicle and attempting to drop off your luggage, you are best served by going directly to the Porta Fiorentina and either parking in the small, paid lot right by the Gate or taking advantage of the short-term free parking on the side of the road across from the paid parking lot. At this point you are a short walk to the hotel entrance. The free parking is located in the Camper Parking Lot which is located down a set of stairs (over 100 steps) in either direction. The walk is not for the faint-hearted.

Hotel La Locanda is a lovely small hotel centrally located inside the walled city of Volterra. We were greeted warmly by our lovely host and given information about the hotel and the city. Our room was a good size, clean and comfortable, the breakfast was very nice and plentiful and the entire ambiance of the hotel was enjoyable. Volterra is a compact, beautiful walled city which, despite being on top of the inevitable hill, is fairly easy to walk around. We really enjoyed our brief visit and would recommend La Locanda and Volterra for a visit.

This isn’t a criticism of La Locanda but a comment on the common difficulty with vehicle access to most European walled cities. Although our host explained in advance that it was possible for us to drive into the restricted area in order to drop our luggage (provided we registered our number plate with the hotel) we decided, on the basis of previous experiences with multiple fines caused by our ignorance of local traffic laws, to park outside the walls. There is a large undercover car park at the main entrance to the town which is safe and inexpensive. Although it is about a 10–15 minute walk to the hotel, it is mainly downhill. By the time we left we had worked out a quicker way to get our bags back to the car.
