The best place we’ve stayed in Italy so far! The host was incredibly friendly and enthusiastic, making us feel right at home. The location is quiet and peaceful, with a stunning view. Every morning, we enjoyed an outstanding breakfast featuring new local and homemade specialities. Guests can also bring and enjoy their own food in the beautiful garden (note: no cooking facilities available). We highly recommend this place as a perfect base for exploring the abundant treasures and beauty of Tuscany. It’s just 1 km – about a 20-minute walk – from Volterra, and there are also some great hiking opportunities nearby.

For my wife and I, this is the top hotel we stayed in during our visit to Tuscany. Excellent location with breathtaking views of Tuscany’s famous lush hilltops and valleys. Outside terrace and swimming pool are added value to this beautiful villa. Plenty of free and secure parking. Room was very authentic with a beautiful view on the mountains side. Luca, the host, was extremely friendly and helpful. He provided full details on sites to see in the region. Homemade breakfast was excellent with a large variety of food selection.

Our stay at Villa Rioddi was simply wonderful! In absolutely beautiful, hillside surroundings, superb, central location for exploring all of Tuscany by car - Pisa, Florence, Siena, the coast; everything in-between, and beyond. Lucca, our host, was charming and thoroughly attentive to our needs. Extremely well-informed as to all the local attractions, also restaurants, not just in the region of Volterra but certainly all of Tuscany and even beyond; wow! (Unfortunately we didn't quite have enough time to enjoy it all, but certainly appreciated being given the comprehensive information all the same.) Room was perfect - very comfortable, spacious and overlooking the beautiful scenery; bed was huge, very comfortable; lovely bathroom with places to put everything, and excellent shower. (Had everything we needed, except on the days it was raining there and we were confined to the hotel for longer periods, I think we both felt we would have liked a kettle in the room with which to make our own tea and coffee, but that's only a tiny quibble given how fantastic everything else was.) And last, but by no means least... breakfast. This was AMAZING!! Every day there was a very good variety of different things offered, freshly made in-house each day (and some delicious cakes, also home-made!), which Lucca took great pride in explaining to his guests what each one was. No two days were quite the same. Brilliant variety no matter your taste and dietary requirements; something for everyone. I found myself having to go back for more each time, pig that I am; all delicious! So yes, Villa Rioddi should definitely be at the top of your list of choices for a stay in Tuscany - it ticks all the boxes, and more! Beautiful location. Large Bedroom and comfortable beds. Excellent, extensive breakfasts. Close drive to parking with quick access to center of Volterra, which was a great place to walk around and eat at good restaurants. Luca, the host, was extremely informative, and helpful. We highly recommend Villa Rooddi to anyone wanting to explore Volterra for a few days. The trickiest part is finding the turnoff from the road, especially at night.

Best breakfast ever! Many, many choices of home made local gourmet dishes that changed every day expertly prepared by Adriana and explained every morning by host Lucca. Like nothing ever experienced anywhere before. Lucca helped us with local directions and maps and explained travel every day. He works so hard to make everything exceptional . Amazing location (old XV century building) with a breathtaking view on scenery over Tuscany hills. Conveniently situated just over 1km (3 min drive) outside Volterra village center. Our hosts were very helpful and efficient. Provided a lot of insights about tourist attractions in the area, even a "custom made" map with a few suggestions about day trips with very useful QR codes for an easy orientation on Googler Maps. Enjoyed a lot the breakfast with many local / homemade products.

Nothing in particular, just an abrupt staircase, but this is something that cannot be changed. After all, this building used to be an old two-story 15th-century inn.

Our stay was fantastic all around. We could list everything the hotel has to offer as a positive. However, we were especially impressed by the exceptional regional and diverse breakfast, as well as the friendliness and warmth shown to us by everyone. The host was more knowledgeable than Google and very helpful. Perfect location, beautiful outdoor area, pool, and one of the most stunning views. The room was beautiful, clean and comfortable. Highly recommended, and we would come back anytime.

We like everything about the hotel. The facilities are great, but what makes it special is the owner - Luca family. We arrived late, but Luca switched on the light of swimming pool for us, and let us use the plate for dinner. The breakfast is the highlight of this hotel. Luca and his wife cook everyday to ensure guests can enjoy the fresh and amazing Italian food. In addition, This is a family run hotel. You can feel the whole family tried to make you feel at home .

The pool was great as certain hotels in the area didn’t have pools, Luca, the owner was more than accommodating, taking me into Volterra free of charge. Offered different pillows options and mattress topper if needed. All the food at breakfast was top quality and locally grown.

The area of the hotel was tricky without the aide of taxis, as there were two major concerts in Volterra and all taxis were pre booked. That was no reflection on the hotel as Luca accommodated for the situation.
