We have stayed here before and so we knew it would be excellent. The covered/secure car park being so close to the hotel, is a real bonus in such an ancient city. We had a lovely welcome and they recognised that we had stayed there before which was a really nice touch. We had an American friend with us and she found the whole hotel a wonderful experience, especially its location, the facilities and views over Tuscany from the terrace. As requested we were in rooms next to each other overlooking the pool area. We will return, yet again, very soon.

The Hotel San Lino is excellent in every way. In fact, excellent in ways I did not expect. The location puts you within easy walking distance to everything in Volterra. The staff is friendly, courteous, and laser-focused on their guests. The facilities are beautiful and immaculate with gorgeous decor. The linens (sheets/towels) are very high quality and spotless. The beds are comfortable. The AC works as it should. The breakfast layout exceeded all expectations, including one of the best cups of coffee I experienced while travelling in Italy. Lastly, as an unexpected bonus, the hotel has a secluded, well-maintained pool and poolside lounge area perfect for a dip, sunbathing, reading, sipping a coffee/beer/wine, or enjoying a cool evening.

I didn't like leaving. I had a wonderful stay.

A hotel in the historic center with parking and a pool is a great find! It's in a great location just steps from the main attractions. The place is beautiful, and our room was renovated and a great size. The shower stall was a good size, unlike hotels in Italy, which tend to be small. Breakfast had a good variety and was constantly replenished. The pool area is very beautiful and has a bar that's open all day. Recomend it and would come back. Bed is very comfortable. Air conditioning is independent and really works.

The acoustics in the rooms are very poor. Since the hotel was full, I woke up three times during the night to noise from neighbors. The pool area isn't very large and gets very busy in the afternoon. They should rethink the furniture layout.

Location is great. Within the walls of Volterra. Private garage and easy to get into and a very short walk to the hotel. Reception staff were friendly and very helpful. Pool area was lovely with a bar for drinks and snacks. Great to use at the end of a hot day. Everywhere in Volterra is in walking distance. The map you are supplied is deceptive as you can get anywhere fairly quickly.

The breakfast was not that great. If you like lots of cake and sweet stuff you will be OK. The laid out stuff was OK, but was not replenished enough so you were left waiting around for staff to help you.

What a great hotel. I booked extra days it was so good. The staff are exceptionally helpful but not intrusive. The whole hotel is clean and tidy. Great swimming pool that has its hours restricted to stop noise at antisocial hours. Lovely breakfast selection again with great staffing. Parking available in a covered garage at a small (8 euro) cost, well worth it in this city location. The town is great filled with history and archaeology sites. The reception staff give great advise on where to eat and visit, even giving a free map of the town. I will be going back next year to further explore the area. It is not far from Pisa and Florence. A great base in Tuscany and so many great places to eat in town.

Nothing could be better.

- great location, inside historical walls - pool - very pleasant in summer heat - pool bar - very nice lady at the reception - very clean bathroom - good wifi - garage (need to pay 15 EUR) - the view to the Tuscany country from the viewpoint at the city walls (by the pool) is breathtaking

- the breakfast does not fit 4 star standard in variety and volume - some guest were loudy by the pool

Despite us being late arrival (late ferry), the lady on reception was so friendly and helpful. The room was delightful, large, with a small balcony overlooking the hills and the swimming pool. We really enjoyed the location, being near to the old town. We had reserved a parking space which was easy to find and covered, safe. The room had everything needed, the bed comfortable. The breakfast was included and was good. The place was made by the friendliness and helpfulness of the receptionist.

Lisa and Jenny were super friendly and helpful, rest of the staff was also very nice and professional - we felt very welcomed. They also prepared for us a breakfast bag as we were checking out very early in the morning. Entire hotel has a lovely Italian character. Great location, quiet area, few minutes walk to Piazza dei Priori. The room was tidy and big enough, a bit dark though as it was facing the corner of the backyard, so we had to put the light on during the day. Beds were comfortable, however the mattresses were squeky. Breakfast was fantastic with great selection of cakes, local specialities , jams and good cappucino. We enjoyed sunbathing and swimming in the pool. The area was clean and well maintained. Must try in Volterra: tagliolini nero with prawns at Alla Vecchia Maniera (restaurant recommended by Lisa) and phenomenal ice cream at L'isola del Gusto Gelateria.

Because of the old character of the building soundproofing isn't the best. We could very clearly hear toilet flushing in another room or people talking/rolling suitcases in the hallway, especially early in the morning,. It woke us up quite few times.

This was a former convent and it was lovely to see the history of the building hadn't been erased. Rooms were simply furnished, clean and comfortable, we had a little outside area which was wonderful. The pool and terrace were beautiful, there was plenty of seating areas and some fabulous views. The location was perfect and the staff were very welcoming and helpful. I'd return in a flash.

To me, the hotel was perfect.

The hotel offered more than we expected for the price. The room was very clean, the pool deck and common areas were very pleasant and offered rest from travel. The breakfast was delicious with a wide variety of options including many local. The parking was close and convenient. Location was a quick walk to center of town but away from noise/crowds. Rooms were basic but supplied all your needs including a refrigerator.
