We enjoyed a lovely family trip to The Calm Resort & Spa. The large private beach was exactly as its name suggests; calm, blue, and picturesque. We could swim all day there. The pool at night was lovely as well. The staff, from management to housekeeping, were consistently polite and welcoming, which made the entire experience feel genuinely relaxing. The food (buffet) was great too. Most of my family liked the unique room layout — it added character to the stay. Overall, it was a peaceful and enjoyable escape, ideal for some quality family time by the sea.

While we had booked three rooms, only one was ready at the standard 2 PM check-in, so we waited about an hour for the others. It was a bit inconvenient, though understandable given the weekend crowds. As for the room layout — while unique, I think some people prefer the sink to be enclosed within the bathroom rather than open to the room. Just a small design quirk that didn’t quite suit my taste.

Good breakfast and dinner, always with multiple options to choose from on the buffet. Directly at the beach. When we visited, some waves (nothing the hotel can influence). Good service, always paying attention. Double rooms quite spacious, nice shower.

Air conditioning in the room quite noise, both insde and outside equipment.

Awesome beach for swimming and wading up to 50 metres in at waist depth. Firm sand under foot. Beautifully kept garden and beach.

1. Room service food was well below 4 star expectations. 2. Staff members were mostly awesome but one of them did graffiti in the secure parking on our car’s dusty windscreen with the singhalese equivalent of “F*CK*R”, despite heavy tipping on top of the 10% service charge throughout our 5 day stay. Little to no response to complaint at reception. Disappointed!

It’s so peaceful! Was a perfect two days stay and I would have stayed a little longer if we had the time. The beach is amazing, the staff were very helpful with our baby and it was very clean ! morning buffet was honestly amazing compared to other places we’ve stayed at. Special thank you to the lady that made our eggs every morning, she was lovely.

If I had to say something for the sake of leaving constructive feedback, I’d say a little work can be done on the kids club. Example: put a small notice letting us know where we can find the remote controls for air conditioning and TV. Maybe leave them in a cupboard? Some toys need to be changed they can be harmful for kids and the tables need protection on the edges. Basically just ask a mum/dad to walk in and help rearrange it! But otherwise it was nice the baby had an area to enjoy and helped us.

We had a wonderful stay at this hotel. The dinner and breakfast buffets were delicious, offering a great variety of tasty options. The rooms were clean and well-maintained, providing a comfortable environment throughout our stay. The staff were friendly, attentive, and always ready to assist promptly. We especially enjoyed watching the beautiful sunrise and taking in the scenic views. We also used the swimming pool both in the evening and the morning, and it was clean and well-kept. Overall, it was a great experience.

As a family of five; father, mother, and three daughters, we would have preferred to stay together in one room. However, since the hotel does not offer family rooms, we had to book two separate rooms. But the staff arranged the two rooms next to each other. I would like to suggest that the hotel consider adding family rooms to better accommodate larger families like ours who wish to stay together. Aside from that, the overall service at the hotel was excellent and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

Idylic beachfront location, plenty comfortable loungers, close to cabana bar, excellent pool in spacious tropical gardens. Clean beach swept daily. Well appointed room, seating area, quality bathroom including range of consumerables. Tastey breakfast, full range of foods. Top level staff service

4 hours of loud Dub style music one night. A classy place like this could have live jazz or piano music? Packed breakfast for early trip underwhelming.

The staff were fantastic. Everyone went above and beyond to make our stay as pleasant and memorable as possible. The scenic white sand beaches and the rooms were excellent.

Buffet was average. Booked a half board. Breakfast was better than dinner. Could do with a lot more variety and seafood and perhaps a larger sri Lankan menu. A lack of a proper live cooking station was also quite evident.

Calm Hotel and Spa My partner and I recently stayed two nights at this hotel as part of our honeymoon. The hotel is designed really well and the entrance lobby is quite a spectacle when you first arrive. The gardens are really well maintained and the pool is lovely, even if it’s a little warm for my liking! The staff are a stand out here. Always smiling, always greeting you and always ready to help! Special shout out goes to Pramod, the Restaraunt manager, who delivered a lovely meal to our room one evening and to Sehan for his exception service for our romantic private beach dinner. Sehan was incredibly professional and kind and Pramod went above and beyond with any requests that we needed. Would recommend staying here a few nights for some rest and relaxation next to a stunning coast line.

The rooms are nice but there could be small improvement, the speaker in our TV hardly worked and there was a wasp nest on the balcony

This resort is very aptly named: an oasis of peace and tranquility in a gorgeous spot. The room was clean and spacious, and we could access the pool directly from our patio. The swimming pool is beautiful, with a shallower area for toddlers as well. The he beach was pristine, and we felt safe enough to leave all our belongings on the beach lounge chairs while swimming / taking a walk. The staff is very nice and helpful.

Very minor issues. The desserts (both at breakfast and at dinner) taste a bit artificial. The swimming pool didn’t always have the best smell (although we saw it being cleaned often and thoroughly). It was impossible to get the room cleaned before mid-afternoon.

Our time in this hotel was awesome. The hotel staff is very kind and is always smiling when you see them. The food and breakfast was very good. You could always order fresh fruit juices. We were in the End of June and there were not a lot of people staying. So it was really calm and the service was perfect, as well as our room (suite). The beach in front of the hotel was one of the best and cleanest i have ever seen. We went for a walk on the beach to see the beaches of the other hotels there and i just can say in front of the Calm Resort was the best and cleanest beach. Also almost no shells have been there. The water of the sea was warm. I couldn't have imagined it better.

If you are afraid of lizzards/cockroaches then you should not go to Sri Lanka. They are almost everywhere also in the best hotels it can happen, even if they try anything not to have them there. In our room we saw one time a baby lizzard and outside of our room there were many when it got dark and the lights turned on. So you have to be careful that they dont enter, when you open the door in the night. Anyway in this hotel it was much better with this topic than in the other ones.
