We had booked a corner twin room which is a large room with a low sofa and TV, as well as a bathroom with a large bath as well as a shower. By pushing the beds together it made a massive bed :-) In Japanese traditional the beds are firm which siuts us perfectly. The location is connected to the Akita train station, very handy indeed, and right in the middle of the shopping area with many restaurants and the park within easy walking distance.

A higher sofa would be easier to get on and off and a second dining chair would have been great so we could both have used the table for in-room meals.

Location was right next to train station, so was really convenient for those who commute by train. We drove so not much of a difference actually. Shops and plenty to eat nearby. Rooms were in the North Wing so needed to walk a little.They were clean and comfortable, although could be bigger in size. Breakfast was excellent, had quite a big spread of items.

The lady at reception was not too friendly as she could not tell us the payment of carpark , we were expecting to park at hotel premise but due to limited number of carpark lots, we parked at the nearby shopping mall. As we could not understand her, it probably frustrated her and another counter staff came to help. So all good in the end.

The booking mentioned there will be 2 beds and 2 futons. But when I asked for the 2 futons, the front desk mentioned they did not have futons. And suggested I used the bed mattress as a futon. We needed the futons as we were a family of 5. A 5-yr-old and twin 3-yr-olds. I ended up asking for a cot, which came unassembled. Staff mentioned it is after hours, apologetically. When I assembled it, some of the joints were already coming undone... It was very worrying.

Pros: Right next to Akita station, with lots of places to eat nearby and a 7-11 right next door. There’s also a big mall you can get to undercover, so it’s a good place to go on a rainy day. The room was spacious and far nicer than your average business hotel. The breakfast was also exceptionally good. The price I paid for a stay in March was an absolute steal. 11:00 am checkout time. Cons: The room was too hot. Even with the heating turned off, I woke up sweating and had to open the window to get some cool air. Noise carries fairly easily. Only three clothes hangers, which seems rather stingy for a “luxury” hotel.

Location was exceptional, being right next to the station and a department store with all the associated comforts. The room while compact, was large enough for comfort and the beds and pillows provided (two were given with different levels of hardness, and this was much appreciated) were comfortable, as was the relatively spacious bathroom. The breakfast spread was impressive and I appreciated the highlights of Akita and the small write-ups about the local cuisine.

The reception itself was a little bit cold, even passing me by entirely to attend to the ladies behind me in the queue when I was waiting in line at the check-in counter, even though I had luggage under their care as well. They quickly rectified that however when I called out to them, but the person who assisted with storing the luggage was exceptionally friendly, so there was that.

Excellent location with direct access from JR station. Very new hotel stylish decor and good lighting options in room, quality big TV etc. Decent size room by Japanese standards (we booked a Double in North wing but bed seemed to be a king). Some nice touches in room.

Breakfast, there was a food enough choice with some nice fruit etc but very much a Japanese spread and not suited to our tastes and food tended to be lukewarm making it seem v greasy. Fancy TV system promised so much with both screen mirroring and casting but in reality it wouldn’t work (and I really tried). Was able to use UTube and photo mirroring).

I had a wonderful stay at the Metropolitan Akita Hotel! ・The staff were incredibly welcoming and helpful, making the check-in process smooth and quick. ・The room was spacious, clean, and well-appointed with modern amenities, offering both comfort and style. ・The bed was exceptionally comfortable, ensuring a restful night’s sleep. ・The hotel’s location is also ideal, conveniently situated near Akita Station. Overall, my experience at the Metropolitan Akita Hotel was fantastic, and I would highly recommend it to anyone visiting Akita.

Right by the railway station with car rental close by, the hotel is ideally located for travellers with heavy suitcases. Most of the touristy bits are within reasonable walking distance. The beds are super comfy and the breakfast great if you like Japanese and Chinese dishes. Travellers to Japan are often disappointed by the city hotel room sizes which are smaller than even European hotels. The twin rooms are larger than the doubles in this hotel and worth paying a little extra for.

Great location linked directly to Akita Station, shopping and eateries and also very near to Senshu Park, the Art Museum and Arts Theatre.

The coin laundry machines do not work well. We had to reset the dryer 5 times, the final 2 times splitting our laundry to 2 machines and still they weren't completely dry. Our laundry took us nearly 5 hours to do and it was nearly 3am when we were done.

You couldn’t get a better location than this hotel being right next to a food court and the train station, a Starbucks on one side and a 7/11 on the other. There’s also a JR rail shop in the station to assist with travel plans. The staff were friendly and ready to assist with some who spoke enough English to converse (this helps as Akita isn’t an overly big tourist area with limited English) We really loved our stay here.
