Absolutely loved the public bath on the rooftop. It was so refreshing to have part of it outside and an actual ice cold bath. Cute to have the peepholes with shutters so you could look outside while no one could look inside. The inside bath made my skin supersmooth. Nice dry sauna. Cool idea to have shower baskets with shampoo and conditioner for specific hairtypes to choose from. There was also a magnificent massage chair 👌 the extras like ice cream and free ramen were also appreciated. Loved how they decorated it with traditional Aomori Nebuta made by a local famous artist. They had tourist information on their tv which was really helpful. Room was small but everything was there, even space to hang your clothes to dry after washing them for free. Breakfast was abundant and well taken care of with a lot of diversity. Staff were all very helpful and kind. The apple juice was delicious ❤️ This hotel is worth going to Aomori for!

The locked drawers frustrated me. I have a curious nature and having paid for a room I don’t have full access to is incredibly galling.

Very happy about this place: excellent location, benefits (ramen, ice cream, massage chairs etc). In the center, close to everything. Service was particularly welcoming and nice (both at reception and for breakfast). Breakfast was good as well.

I think there was an issue with the sound isolation in my room (715 I think): every morning starting from 7:00am I could hear the music tone of the road signal in the street (when it goes green for pedestrians), window being closed closed, so I had to sleep with earplugs. Interesting to note that the music could not be heard at all from the room next to mine (716 I think) so it’s probably just this room

Location is strategic, just 3 blocks down to the bay area. Loved walking around especially during sunset. There's nothing much to do around Aomori itself but I loved my 3 night staycation at the Dormy Inn. The spa facilities are well maintained and top notch. The reviews from other folks are true around food and freebies. Yes it's further away from the Aomori station but if you are coming from the airport, just take an airport limousine bus and get dropped off at Kencho-dori bus stop, right by the hotel! Going back is just right across the other side! Super convenient!

The staff provided exceptional service in all areas - front desk/reception, parking attendant and restaurant. They were very professional and positive. The breakfast was very good - great range of food options, good quality and plentiful. Our room, while small, was well laid out and very clean. Common areas in the hotel are well-maintained and very clean. We enjoyed the onsen and the complimentary cold treats available in the common area near the onsen. Whoever sets the standard for operating this hotel is doing a great job and providing a very good guest experience. Thank you.

Dormy Inn is exactly as advertised. Not a luxury experience, but an extremely efficient and well-run hotel with a few unique features. The baths were clean with good natural hot spring water, and there were free snacks available outside the baths in a common area, which seemed to promote a certain amount of socializing, especially among the many Chinese-speaking guests.

Overall I'd say the hotel hits exactly where it is aiming in the marketplace, so I have no complaints. I didn't feel it went above and beyond expectations, hence 4/5 stars.

We loved our stay here. Location is great, an easy walk from the train station, and lots of food options around. (We loved Nonohana (ののはな), an izakaya just around the corner. We sat at the bar and had a great time chatting with some of the regulars - the food here is delicious and very affordable.) The hotel has an awesome natural hot spring, including an open air one, so I bathed while watching the snow fall - it was pretty magical. Then they offer free ice creams, a manga library, and free massage chairs - it doesn't get much better. The buffet breakfast was expensive but we had a lot of fun trying different dishes - this is a great way to try the famous Aomori apple if you're in a rush. We had apple juice, apple pie and apple jelly!

The staff were uniformly wonderful. As for the location, I usually prefer to stay close to the train station, especially if I am planning on any day trips. The Dormy is about 10-15 minute walk away (can take a bus to within a block, but we never bothered), but there are lots of restaurants, etc., nearby to make up for this. The public bath (which had an outdoor bath included) was the highlight. I would definitely stay here again.

Not a dealbreaker, but the rooms (at least ours) felt a bit dated.

the facilities of the hotel are just outstanding, the public Onsen, the free massage chairs, desert, comic books and ramen. It's very comfortable staying in the hotel. it's located in a very convenient location too, we walk to all the places we wanted to visit in the Aomori city.

the smoking room is not air tight and it's right next to the public resting area after you taking a bath in the Onsen, the place stink of smoke which is a let down for me and my family. that is the only part could be improved for this hotel

Everything was perfect at this hotel - staff were super helpful, entire building and facilities were clean and tidy, and so many complimentary services! - Fresh apple juice, Ramen noodle at night, Massage chair experience after Onsen etc... One of the best hotels we ever stayed in Japan! I'd also highly recommend you to add breakfast too! Variation of food you can get is fantastic. The location was great too and only 10mins walkaway from the Aomori station. Highly recommend!!

It would be much better if the smoking room on the 13th floor were moved elsewhere or sealed more tightly. The smell of cigarettes spreads throughout the 13th floor, even reaching the entrance of the onsen. As someone who doesn’t smoke and is allergic to cigarette smoke, it makes me feel very uncomfortable, and I can’t spend much time on that floor, even though everything else there is excellent.
