The buffet breakfast was really very good, with many local specialities. There was an older female member of the breakfast staff who spoke good English & encouraged us to try many different dishes. Sadly, I didn't get her name, but she was so enthusiastic about her job. On the ground floor is a Lawsons & also a bakery, which sold delicious pastries - both savoury & sweet. Our room was spacious, by Japanese standards & very clean. We used the coin-operated laundry here. The English instructions were very helpful. Easy walking distance to numerous restaurants & shops. We even walked to/from the JR station once we'd orientated ourselves.

Sadly, there is a huge amount of single-use plastic in the breakfast room. Richmond Hotel could & should replace plastic pots, spoons, coffee muddlers, etc. with ceramic bowls, stainless steel spoons & wood, etc. I'm not a tree-hugger, but do want to reduce my use of plastic, so I hope the hotel will take my comments on board - I would have given this hotel a nine otherwise ;)

Firstly, I want to start this review with some context. I’m not normally a big reviewer, however, I recently spent 30 nights in Japan, and the reviews on hotels were helpful for me when I was planning my trip, so if my experience helps the next person then great! Together my partner and I visited 32 different parts of Japan, staying in 19 hotels, giving me (I think) a good basis for my review. We only stayed in Aomori for one night after taking the car ferry from Hakodate. We arrived in the evening and headed straight out to dinner, so we didn't spend much time in the hotel. That being said, this hotel was comfortable and clean. We ended up wandering around to find somewhere to eat and there were lots of restaurants and bars in the area to choose from. This hotel was great for what we needed and we would stay again if we revisited the city.

Nothing

I liked that there were complimentary drink vending machines on every floor (apple tea, barley tea, green tea and hot/cold water). Laundry baskets were provided in the coin laundry room which was very handy. Beds were comfy and the room size was great with a wide entrance that allowed us to comfortably fit 2 large luggages.

The hotel is far from the Aomori train station - a 15 minute walk. However it is close (less than 5 minutes) to a major bus stop though, with buses that can take you to the shin-aomori / aomori stations, aquarium, jomon jiyukan and so on. The bathroom was a little smaller than other Richmond hotels we've stayed at and we kept knocking our elbows in the wall or sink when using the toilet. For reference I'm quite a small person - 150cm tall (5ft) - and still felt the bathroom was on the smaller side.

The room was spacious and quiet. And, I liked the wall detailing of the kogin-zashi designs. The room was well furnished and warm. The drinks dispensers on each floor that served hot apple tea, hōji-cha and barley tea were a lovely touch too. The apple tea really hit the spot after a day in the snow. Staff were very friendly and there was a wide variety of board games that were available to borrow from reception. There's a bakery and a Lawson on the ground floor of the building which is very convenient too

Convenient location, smart TV, all amenities provided including face mask and bath powder. Comfy bed and even provided iron. I would see this hotel be a great option for someone who is also on a business trip. Parking support provided for parking tower. Air purifier in the room was appreciated. Ice machine on top floor. I would be back.

We were in the non smoking room but the smoking smell must have seeped in from a different amoking room. We smelled some cigarettes from our room. No water provided in the room but there is a water machine in front of the elevator. Some detailed cleaning misses in the room were spotted

Room size, cleanliness

Location was a little further than expected; if you drive then it's perfectly fine because it has a car park for guests but if you are walking from the train station then it may feel a little far with your luggage. Area is relatively quiet with dispersed restaurant options (the hotel knows this - you get dining recommendations on the room TV), so good for those who are keen to sleep but probably not for those who want to explore and stay out in the bars late!

Plenty of room and clean. Free cold/hot tea/peach tea vending machine near the elevators at each level - this was really good and not met at any other hotel we stayed in. Good view of the city, tower and mountain backdrop. Staff was helpful and nice, patiently instructing us on how to choose different cleaning options.

We were not aware the breakfast voucher payment is on the check in/out machine, and so we had breakfast elsewhere. We would have preferred staff informed us of this.

The hotel has cozy rooms and classy design with a good price, and the location is very good — within walking distance to the Aomori station and some really good cafes :D The staffs are also really nice!! They discussed with me about my journey and experiences, which makes me feel very warm! Thank you! I’ll still considering staying here next time if I have chance to go to Aomori again.

I like the location of the hotel, and enjoyed the sea and moutain view out of the room window. The room decaration is quite new, display is reasonable, I used the table for laptop work, comfortale and cozy. At the coridor drinking machine is available, we can choose different flavor and water. I think I made right choice for the short stay at this quite and beautiful sea side city.

Comfortable and clean room. Wide range of amenities provided including face mask, which is very generous & thoughtful.

Room wifi failed but receptionist provide us a portable WiFi to solve the problem. Same breakfast spread every day and no raw fish serve which is a disappointment.
