The hotel and its surroundings are wonderful, offering my family and me a truly relaxing stay. I would also like to express my heartfelt gratitude to the hotel team and the staff at Semonto Rest Stop for their assistance when my family and I missed the bus back to Fukuoka. We were feeling lost and helpless due to the language barrier and difficulty finding transportation to Fukuoka. The hotel kindly sent an English-speaking staff member from Semonto Rest Stop, who helped us with all the necessary checks and communication. Thanks to his support, we were able to board the last bus to Fukuoka with ease. I am deeply grateful and appreciative, and words cannot fully express my thanks.

The breakfast and dinner menus would be improved if they varied on alternate days for guests staying more than one night.

We had the half board as a couple getaway, during our 10 day stint exploring Kyushu with in-laws. The property had clean rooms with modern furnishings. The yukata and slippers provided was very comfortable to lounge around the compound. Amenities are avilable upon check in at the lobby. You can choose your size of Yukata. Thoughtful touch and not just one size fits all. We had booked the private onsen for 1000yen. It was rather frills free but was wonderful as a precursor before our dinner at 6.30pm. U could choose from these timings: 6, 6.30 and 7. The half board was worth it as it had free flow liquer. Try the Hakutake Umepon! The next morning before breakfast, we explored the outdoor onsen (gender separated). It was surprisingly quite crowded for the female one. Very picturesque and tranquil albeit for the squeeze at the shower area. The breakfast was rather basic, after the fanfare that was dinner. But decent. One can have a short walk outside to explore the nearby swing, a nearby gift shop, or even fly a drone in their sprawling outdoor premise.

It was fantastic with picturisque view over the Aso five peaks alongside with grand plain of Senomoto highland. Absolutely great experience of hot spring, onsen, with open air public bath. Beautiful night sky view with splendid stars.

It would be great to write English menu in Dinner and Breakfast buffet. Also it would be great if they could give English speaking guided tour of night sky. But as this is Japanese hotel where mostly Japanese people come to relax, it would be appreciable if they do not give English speaking guidance.

Liked the open air onsen. It was snowing that morning, it’s really beautiful. We liked the room very much.. had the mixed modern and tatami room. It’s really very nice and big. Comfortable for a family of 4-5. Good parking spaces.

Quite disappointed with the buffet spread. Not much of choices. Sometimes plates were empty, and not refilled. Has limited tables to accommodate the guests. Only have one coffee machine and the queue is very very very loooong.. they should really do something about this. I think there are shortage of staff as well, as tables are not cleaned immediately after diners left. The staff are also not friendly, especially the one at the entrance. Not sure why.

it's a place more convenient for self-drive although they do have a fixed shuttle timing every day to fetch check-in customers. it was kid friendly and we could even find baby yukata for our 2yo toddler complete with shoes that fit her feet too. stayed in the new wing which was clean and had a lovely view as well. dinner buffet was also provided but it paled in comparison to our onsen hotels in hokkaido. one thing great was the free flow alcohol which many evidently enjoyed. they also had an ice cream machine. stargazing event was lovely, but do take note to dress warmly (some guests decided not to go out of the hotel due to the strong winds).

the stargazing briefing was about 30 mins and it was entirely in japanese with no english subtitles. the front desk staff who attended to us was a little slow and long winded when explaining everything especially since we reached at 6.40pm which was nearing dinner time of 7pm. they did not lay tatami for our room (whereas our hokkaido experience led us to think otherwise).

Incredible staff who took care of every detail. The location is gorgeous and very close to Mt. Aso and several other natural attractions—perfect for nature lovers. We booked the private onsen several times and really enjoyed it. The breakfast and dinner had a variety of choices we enjoyed. The hotel even let us use purchase our yukata. Great experience!!!

Beautiful hotel surrounded by lovely views. Friendly staff. We got an upgraded room in new wing, very spacious room by Japanese standards. Perfect stay. We were told you can do start gazing on clear nights.

Half board included was buffet dinner and breakfast. It was very good but was expecting the dinner experience to be more the traditional Japanese style dinner. (Just my personal preference).

The room comes with a view to kill. You can see the whole Aso mountain range. It is also quite spacious with modern design which I like. I came back just for this

The buffet meals. It is really the worst part about this hotel. Services at the buffet was poor too. Food quality and variety is the main negative factors else I will be back again and again. The good part is free flow of alcohol,so only those who loves to drink will benefit from this.

The location and view of the hotel was outstanding. Also the outside onsen are very nice. Our room was located in the newer building, with view on the Senomoto highlands and mount Aso, and it was very comfortable with an amazing view. We received a free upgrade :)

The women inside onsen have no view as the windows are covered in blinded stickers.

We got a room in the new wing so the room was fantastic. The onsen was simple, no frills. They have an indoor and outdoor onsen. Free coffee, tea and beer from 3 to 6pm in the lounge. Buffet dinner was good, free flow of drinks and alcohol. Interesting star gazing experience organised by the hotel staff in the evening.

Nothing!! Maybe just that the indoor and outdoor onsens were in two separate locations. But other than that everything was really good
