The hospitality of the staff was excellent, the room was extraordinary. It was perfect a-z.

A lot. We ended up getting a full Japanese 2-floor house, with a private outdoor onsen and a garden overlooking the nice river. I guess I wasn’t really sure what kind of room I had booked. Everything else was great, too much to mention. I at least have to mention that we especially enjoyed the private dining rooms with views on the maple leaves and the river.

It’s a bit far from the actual Kurokawa Onsen town, but the property itself provided enough onsen experiences that we skipped the town. If it had been closer, we probably would have at least check it out.

Quite far from the village center. We walked to the river to see lantern at night but staff could not explain the direction so we try google maps but it lead us to main road which was quite dangerous at night.

Lovely ryokan nestled in the lush greenery with many options of public baths. Great location near to attractions! Excellent service level - Greatly appreciate the concierge service staff patiently waiting for us at the carpark in the rain to welcome us with umbrellas and helping with our luggages.

Excellent japanese style Hotel with friendly staff. We arrived to Kurokawa by bus, were contacted by the Hotel well before hand, and Hotel staff was waiting for us to take our luggage to the Hotel for us by car. We also got a ride to the bus after check-out. Not all of the staff was fluent in english but they were eager to help whenever needed. Onsen pass can be purchased from the Hotel lobby and they can give recommentations of nearby onsens. The hotel's own onsen was really nice, including both in- and -out-door baths and a cold bath for cooling off especially after sauna. In February we enjoyed onsen with light snow. During summer or autumn, the scenery is surely even more stunning. In addition to men's/women's baths, the Hotel has three small private/family onsen baths that can be reserved from the lobby even in the early morning hours. Sauna in the onsen smelled a pit feird. That is, said by a Finn - but onsens are the THING here. Really good breakfast and dinner! The room had plenty of space and a really nice atmosphere.

Beautiful old ryokan located by the river with great onsen facilities. The hotel has a public part and a separate one just for guests and three private onsens, which must be booked in advance at the reception (one visit is free). fantastic, discreet service, the reception staff spoke very good English. Beautiful, spacious room with a toilet.

Excellent. The Onsen was amazing and it was so tranquil and peaceful. It's definitely one of the best to make you feel like you've gone back in time and experienced it the way they did in old times. The traditional multi course dinner was exceptional. One of the best meals I had during my holiday in Japan. The staff were great and the bus shuttle from the bus stop helped a lot with getting our luggage to the Onsen.

The meals that were prepared were absolutely phenomenal. Beautiful onsens that can’t compare to anywhere else. The scenery and the staff we’re the best.

The food was exceptional. My son really enjoyed every dish. Private bath was very nice. It's half open air with dry area to get change. Dryer and amenities are provided, very convenient. Around the area was very nice and shady. It feels cool even in the mid of summer.

We slept in a room with a private bath, the views to the river from the balcony were fantastic. The hotel has a beautiful Japanese design, the dinner was one of the best we had in Japan. Everything was perfect.

The hotel’s location is a bit outside of Kurokawa center, but still reachable by walk or by 5 min drive.
