The staff were friendly and reception was very helpful. They are able to speak enough English to get important notes for your stay across when checking in, although i tried as much as i could to speak in Japanese to make it easier. The rooms are nice, and the view from the mountain looking down on the coast makes it worth the stay. The onsen was just right, and depending on the time you go, you can be the only person there bathing. The amenities were plentiful, and they were close to the elevator, making for quick access.

First and foremost, make sure to book the shuttle to and from the hotel. It states it on the website, but there wasn't a clear way to do it from Booking's side. Thankfully, there are local bus lines that run through the hotel, making it possible to go back to the station. You can pay with IC or in cash. The only other complaint I had was the beds we got for our room were a bit stiff and thin, although some people may like this kind of bed, it didn't give the best sleep for me or my travel partner.

I loved the free spa with hot pools, both outdoor and indoor. Beautiful, big Japanese-style room with a big balcony and a spectacular panoramic view. Even the bathroom has this great view. Tasty free soup every evening. Free shuttle from the train station in the centre of Atami. I wish I could stay there longer than 2 nights. Thank you!

Don't make the same mistake as me and climb up there with a big suitcase, just because it doesn't seem to be very far from the train station. It's a very steep way up the hill. I arrived in the evening when it was dark and the free shuttles don't operate. Try to find a taxi then. It was one of the most challenging hikes in my life ;) The views from the hotel room made up for this big effort, though :D

Overall, my stay was a memorable one, and I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone seeking a relaxing and comfortable retreat. The hotel's rooms were spacious and well-appointed, providing ample space to move around and unwind. The breakfast and dinner buffet was impressive especially the sashimi station, with a wide selection of both local and international cuisines. Also, the onsen here was a true oasis of relaxation with separate gender room.

Although the hotel staff are friendly, they hardly speak english (even google translate almost couldn’t help us lol)

Room had a beautiful view of the beach, and was pretty spacious. Can't recommend the dinner buffet enough, they don't lie when they say they have a large variety of high quality items to pick from. The onsen was also very pleasant, overall a great stay.

The room was a little dry, it might be a good idea to put in a humidifier during winter.

Atami is awesome all-around. Western beds are so much more comfortable than Futons, but you still get the Ryokan experience here. Staff was exceptionally awesome as expected of Japanese service providers.

Buffet items were repeated the next day. View from the outdoor Onsen is obstructed. Free shuttle bus was too small to accommodate all guests.

The room was a very comfortable size. The tatami in the room was a nice touch and was comfortable to lounge on. The view from the room was amazing. Staff were very friendly. The onsen was amazing. Felt all the fatigue from previous travels disappear.

Location wasn't the greatest. The hotel is up a hill and far out, so you would have to take a taxi or bus provided from the hotel to go out to the city. The bus was also very small. Nearly impossible to fit larger luggage inside of it.

I feel like everything was perfect, the Oriental style room was large and comfortable with an amazing view, the buffet for dinner and breakfast was excellent with a lot of choices, the staff is very cordial and always helpful, the onsen was amazing and generally everything was just right. Seeing Atami from the top of the hill was breathtaking.

We visited Atami to watch the fireworks show and the view from our balcony was spectacular. The breakfast buffet was well worth the extra cost and offered plenty of variety. Despite the hotel's age, the room was large and recently renovated with nice touches like USB charging ports and attractive lighting in the room. The beds were very nice as well.

Not the hotel's fault—more Booking.com—but our reservation didn't quality for the government supported travel discount. Hotel's location makes you dependent on their facilities or what you can bring "up the mountain side."

Rooms were exceptionally big and spacious. Balcony looking out to the ocean Booked the room with breakfast and dinner included and the selection and variety was exceptional Check-in was smooth and clear, hot spring bath and facilites were good. We have a rental car so getting there was not a problem other than that there were 2 wings so best to check with reception before off-loading the luggage Very family friendly hotel so if you dislike the sound of children at meal times, consider elsewhere otherwise we enjoyed our stay very much
