1) dinner and breakfast were served in a private room with greenery view 2) room is very spacious with a small dressing room and balcony 3) every staff is very nice and attractive 4) they provide free taxi ride from /to the train station so you don’t need to worry about the traffic arrangements 5) the out door Onsen is good and I didn’t use their indoor one 6) the hotel very quite and peaceful 7) food of dinner and breakfast are of good quality

This hotel was fabulous on all levels: service, cleanliness, breakfast, room, onsen, etc. The staff took very good care of us. The hotel's private and public onsens were amazing! The hotel was not crowded; we would often be the only ones in the public onsens. The breakfast was outstanding. We were amazed at how much effort it took to prepare the food. The presentation and taste of the meal were outstanding! I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone planning a trip to Gero. You won't want to leave this property and the pampering of the staff!

Our room reservation comes with private onsen where it is located outside of our room and requires reservation. Besides that, nothing else we dislike about.

Nice room, nice food, very nice hot spring water!

Every time we got out of the ryokan we had to give them our room key and then when we got back to the ryokan they showed up with my key suddenly, smoothly. It’s ok but a bit strange too. Meaning, it wasn’t comfortable. The private outdoor bath needs reservation(once per day, only for afternoon) but after we checked in there was no availability. We stayed 2 nights so we could use it just one time.

The room was spacious, with two main rooms that can be used for leisure and sleep. Also appreciate the extra seating area with the coffee machine. The in-room bathroom was well equipped and the private outdoor bath with hot spring was a great place to relax in. The dining experiences were fantastic—the Hida beef dishes were particularly memorable—and they made minor tweaks for my 6-year-old so he was able to enjoy his meals too.

The in-room private outdoor bath water was not as warm on the second day, perhaps due to the weather? Didn't occur to me to call the hotel staff to tweak it—so that's partly on us.

The food was amazing, service top notch and the location very very central. The outdoor bath was spotless and the private outdoor bath is very nice and new. We would absolutely stay again.

As of Nov 2023 there is some light construction at the property that is minimized in the morning and afternoons but was still bothersome. It looks like it is very localized to one area and should probably be finished soon. The manager apologized for the inconvenience but no discounts or other offers were made except for free coffees with our breakfast, which was disappointing. There is also mold in the tub in the bathroom in the room which we did not use but needed to leave the fan on since it smelled musty.

Beautiful attentive staff, lovely gardens and onsen, and huge traditional breakfast included.

The location is walking distance, about 1 km to the town centre. No washing machines but there is a coin laundry close by that was easy to use. It is a traditional ryokan so the bedding and seating are all on the floor, which was cool for us but might be challenging for someone with back problems.

Great traditional-style Ryokan. Walking distance from the town and there is on site parking. Large, clean rooms. Ample meals. Both an indoor and outdoor public bath. Right next to a flowing river. Very pleasant staff.

The only things some people might not like is more of a clash of Western tastes with traditional Japanese bedding and cuisine so not really a minus in my eyes.

Location is about 5 mins drive from train station . If arriving between 1:30pm to 6 pm , just hope into a taxi and be driven to the ryokan for free . The room is clean and the view is superb .Meals were provided in private rooms . The outdoor onsen is small but clean and the ambience is great .

Dinner could be better with more meat (only 3 thin slices )

-great hospitality,able to communicate in Eng or using gg translate. When we were leaving, they even came outside to say goodbye ,also standing and waving until our car gone. - This hotel has to carry suitcase up one floor, but they helped to carry all the way in and out. - Big private dinner and BF room for each family. -River view from the room. -Coin laundry nearby outside the hotel. -Quiet area at night.

-small street,easy to miss at night if driving.
