The rooms are exquisite, very spacious and newly decorated. The onsen were also terrific, an incredibly authentic experience with robes also provided in the rooms. Lastly, the food was incredible. Breakfast and dinner with so many courses at such high quality they almost make the room feel like it’s free. Lastly I need to say an incredible thank you to the staff who went out of their way to help us when our friend broke his leg out running. They made sure we had a wheelchair and even drove us to the top of the mountain in order to have a simpler time accessing the bus to asahikawa

It certainly wasn’t a dislike, but it’s worth noting that the rooms are en-suite but without a shower. If you want to clean yourself it has to be in the onsen. Similarly, whilst the food is impeccable it is lacking in carbs so maybe bring some snacks on holiday to supplement this

State of art Ryokan experience with superbe onsen

Ryokan feel to it. We had yukata and slippers to wear to the onsens and dinner. Dinner was fabulous—so many dishes and so much variety! Breakfast was also quite good and filling. The onsens were comfortable, well thought out, and varied. I appreciated that they did not smell of sulfur (at least the one I went to). Coffee was available much of the day at the cafe (machine to make lattes, etc.). Fresh spring water is constantly flowing in the lobby. Staff was good humored and helpful.

Really nothing. We learned the first night at dinner to look over the set menu and, if there was a dish we knew we weren’t going to eat (there was so much food!), to let our server know. It truly would have been impossible to eat everything!

Amazing stay here. Rooms are big, very clean and very comfortable. They even give you Kalita coffee grinder and grind in your room if you want! ( but there is also a Jura coffee machine downstairs 😂). Traditional Japanese food was a very cool experience.. Multi course meals, wow. And the onsen is fantastic,,, like multiple different to choose from. Also they have self laundry in the basement that is reasonably priced. And it's 5 minutes from the ropeway for skiing...

Although old the rooms were warm,clean and comfortable. Onsens were very nice and quiet alrhough outdoors onsen was closed

I was not aware at the time of booking that outside onsens were closed. there is a huge fire place but the fire was always tiny in the lodge area, not inviting. Also the coffee / tea area was chilly and lacked a cozy feeling for reading or comfort. The dinner and breakfast was very traditional. No other options.

Modern Japanese rooms, extra fluffy comforter, multiple hotsprings, kaiseki dinners, super close to the ropeway, great little shop with local goods, public transportation dropping off right outside the hotel

Amazing and very special food, good size room, excellent onsen facilities. Authentic Japanese experience. Also good location to access Asahidake ropeway.
