The hotel is a 5 minutes walk from the train station and the main entertainment/shopping/restaurant street leading up to Himeji castle. It's a great spot, both close to everything and quiet. The room was big for a single room in Japan and the blinds were amazing - they didn't let in the sun at all, perfect for a peaceful night. The hotel has some nice extras you can grab for your room for free, including drip coffee and bath salts, both very appreciated.

I asked the staff if I could refill my water bottle but the hotel doesn't have a water fountain and the staff didn't help me refill my bottle so I left without water.

This hotel was the first one to let us check-in before check-in time which we’ve been really happy about. The reception was excellent and also really friendly. The room’s a little bit on the smaller side. Still, we were musing about why they gave away maybe 20cm in additional bed space for the gap between bed frame and table. If the bed had been wider it would have been a 10/10. Nonetheless, the room is really comfy, the area is calm and close to the train station and the castle. We also enjoyed the later breakfast time until 09:45 - usually it finishes before 09:00. Breakfast itself is ok but not too special.

Clean, comfortable room. Quiet. Staffed front desk. Very near train station.

All four washers did not drain properly, so dry cycle did not work. Had to find a coin laundry nearby to dry our clothes. Notified staff so perhaps this will be addressed. Don't know if it is a chronic problem. Although hotel is obviously newer, the hallway carpet appeared in bad condition with fading and staining visible.

The staff was very pleasant to work interact with. They received my forwarded luggages and filled out the paperwork to forward my luggage to the next location. Some hotels will make you do it yourself. The hotel room was larger than the average twin room in Japan. It was conveniently located about 5-10 minutes walk from Himeji Station. They provided free umbrellas when it was raining.

No in room laundry machine.

Our second time staying here. Good location with a big car park next to the hotel. 800 yen for overnight parking. Buffet breakfast was good with enough variety. They don't always replenish the dishes on time or when it is close to the end but you can ask the staff to refill.

There was one counter staff who point blank said no to our request to make a booking for dinner. In all my years of travelling in Japan, this was the first time I hv encountered such behaviour. To be fair we don't know whether it is the hotel policy. Anyway, aside from this particular incident, the rest of the staff were friendly n helpful.

Very convenient location. They have self check-in and checkout systems available, however we got there at night and the reception was still open to help with any questions we had. The amenities and facilities were great, and we especially liked the bathtub and the big sink. Amazing breakfast! It was a free buffet with both western and Japanese food choices. The staff was very friendly too.

Everything you need when you've got a busy itinerary. All staff around the hotel are polite and kind. The room is a little basic but it has all the essentials needed and the hub on the TV was really useful - particularly for laundry. Only a few minutes away from Himeji station so very convenient. Great value for money and recommend if you've got a busy schedule.

Missed having shelving or a place to unpack clothing. There was only a rail next to the door for coats/shoes.

The Richmond met all of our expectations. Only the location being just a little away from the JR station was unexpected. However, it was only a 10 minute walk to the station where we could find a ton of restaurants and shops. So being on the south entrance had its benefits of being a quiet, slower side of the train starion which was great for families with young children. This was very evident in what we witness at the buffet breakfast where half the patrons of 40 plus diners were children under 10 years of age. The breakfast itself was great as it had a good array of food and dishes for all ages on top of being very oishi.

The laundry operation is visible on the in-house TV so you can see how many machines are being used and when they will be finished. This is very handy. Also means you can see when your washing is ready to collect. Very good breakfast

We chose the eco cleaning option which we understood would mean room cleaning every 3 days. We were there for 4 nights in early summer and would have liked the bedding changed after the third night but there was little evidence of a room clean on the third day. In retrospect we would have chosen cleaning every day. Four days without a change is too many. Also, there is no benefit to the guest, apart from the idea that you are saving the world; feels more like you are saving the hotel some costs. This is the only niggle. Otherwise an excellent hotel

We often stay in Richmond hotels in Japan. We find that they are very clean, comfortable and offer very good value for money.The one in Himeji was no exception. It is a five minute walk from the station and walkable to the Castle. Alternatively, you can take a short bus trip from the station to the castle. They young staff are very helpful and several spoke some English. There was a variety of western and Japanese food for breakfast.
