We had a family room with river view and we enjoyes our stay very much. The location is a short 10min walk from the train station. And the river next to the hotel was beautiful with bamboo lamps at night and a nice walkway on the other side. The staff was very friendly, we got a tour around the inn at the beginning and some explanation. There where also flyers in our room with instructions for how to ware the yukata and how to set up the futon. The public bath was very nice and clean. The water temperature was also just right in my opinion. There are also 2 privat Onsen for 2 people max. You can use them also for free, you only need to look if the are occupied or not, remember to always keep the fan on and the doors closed when you leave the private Onsen ;) like the Instruktionen say. Thank you for the stay

Since it is and old building (in good condition and nicely renovated) the walls are thin and the floors squeek, you will hear other customers. This it not really a negative point but a fair warning for sensitive people, we had no problem sleeping. They provide earplugs for free in the room if needed.

Best place we've stayed in Japan, loved all 5 days we stayed. The Onsen is wonderful and so easy to use since it's open all day/night except 10am-3pm (I think). Amazing old and very well maintained building, we loved lounging by the river in the common area. Kitchen was also great, and other guests as well as staff were so friendly.

I'd upgrade to a riverfront room next time they look delightful ! but my basic room was economical and we spent most of our time in the common room anyways.

Lovely traditional room overlooking the river. I loved sitting in the sun room with a book. Well equipped kitchen and spacious communal spaces. The staff were fantastic. My daughter got sick and they accompanied us to the doctor to translate. Both private and communal onsen are clean and enjoyable.

Really beautiful hostel, we had a private river view room and it was fantastic. Futons were comfortable and we had a private sink and fridge. The area is lovely and easy to walk from the station. The onsen was fantastic, very spacious and clean, we wish we’d stayed longer.

As you can see from my responses, this was magic. Loved it. The view from our terrace was tranquil and cool. The lights on the path opposite made the night sight wonderful too. The onsen was clean and elegant.

Can’t think of anything.

The 4 of us stayed in one of the private family rooms - beautiful views of the river, gorgeous Japanese style interior and incredibly good value for money. The communal areas were always kept clean, including the onsen which was very pleasent. The kitchen had everything we needed - we didn't do any complicated cooking but we probably could have if we'd needed. Laundry facilities were handy as we were staying for 6 nights as part of a 2 week trip. The location was handy - a 5-10 minute walk from Ito bus+train station, which was ideal for taking day trips to other locations around Izu. We appreciated the map/list of recommended restaurants in the area and used this several times to eat out.

These are only small gripes that didn't impact the experience much, but... Futon mattresses were a little bit firm for my liking, and I would have benefitted from an extra pillow. Restrictions on laundry facilities were a minor inconvience as we couldn't use them too early in the morning or late in the evening, but it made sense so as not to disturb the other guests with the noise.

Absolutely amazing place, we had a family room with common toilet (multiple cabins and urinals) but I've never encountered anyone there. There was a single person traditional bath just outside our room, it was shared as well but you could easily get a slot. The bath was fantastic, the hot water and traditional experience were something truly unique and my favourite part of the day. We had a family room with the river view. Even when we had to spend one day at the hostel due to the terrible weather it still felt like an adventure due to the outside view. Blooming flowers, birds and river with fish made the rainy day much more bearable. The room itself was very good as well, loved the traditional feel although I had to get used to sleeping without thick mattress. The staff was very helpful any time we had questions or requests.

Although I did not encounter anyone while I was using the toilet space I was slighthly uncomfortable with the urinals opposite of cabins.

Very typical and cosy Riokan, exceptionally well maintained structure with very kind and helpful staff. You can either overnight in the dorms or in private rooms. Public and private Onsen available.

This was my second time here and I dare say I'll be back again. The staff was so helpful. I was able to check out a few minutes earlier than the regular checkout time and leave my luggage, so I was able to catch the bus I needed to get. Thanks a lot! The accomodation was clean and the hot spring baths were good. It's built along a river so it makes for a great view, especially at nighttime when bamboo with carved decorations were lit along the river. It's a 10 minute walk from Ito station with a small shopping restaurant street nearer the station. Also, right nextdoor there's a cultural property, Tokaikan, which was a Japanese inn but has been turned into a museum. (¥200 for tickets). I recommend going in the night during summer when it's a bit cooler.

On the third floor, when you open the door for the toilets you see some urinals on your right and a western toilet with a closed door in front of you. I was fortunate not to walk in on someone using the urinals. But I think that some thought needs to be given in order to prevent an incident.

Loved the atmosphere and architecture of this incredible building. So stunning. Peaceful shared spaces (lounge / dining) overlooking the river. Well-stoked kitchen with all you needed. Laundry easy. And, the onsen. So lucky to have access to the onsen eight at K’s House - clean, very stylish and lovely temperature. Great base for exploring the Izu Peninsula. We rented a car in Itō - parking by K’s House was only 500 yen for 24 hours. Lovely staff who were so helpful with checking out tofu and pottery workshops, and places to try wasabi-don. Their free morning coffee was also a treat.

Nothing - I guess our room was pretty tight for 5 of us and bags but that was minor. The balcony gave a sense of space and the whole place was so amazing that that’s a minor detail.
